Why are there so many people on Sup Forums who can't properly identify genres?
I just saw a guy saying (in a now-deleted thread) that Amnesia TDD and AMFP were both walking simulators. Despite TDD being an actual game with several mechanics.
And I've also seen people saying shit like >Button prompts=QTEs >Game has a single 10 seconds cutscene=Cinematic game
So these people would actually consider Broken Sword or Grim Fandango to be walking simulators just because there's no combat?
Why can't they see such a clear difference, seriously.

Man, that's some terrible fucking cover art for The Dark Descent.
Jack Nguyen
its a meme you dip
Jason Morales
>cover art is a meme Ok, you dip.
Carter Gonzalez
a lot closer to being a walking sim than a survival horror game tbqh
Thomas Harris
Blame THQ
Hunter Nguyen
Everything with certain elements is a walking simulator or a movie for Sup Forums nowadays. A game needs to be japanese with waifu characters to be considered a honest video game on here.
Thomas Mitchell
how does it feel to be a retard?
Jeremiah Gonzalez
Honestly. five years ago I would've agreed. I used to consider "walking games" games with little to no combat, bare minimum gamplay and mostly about taking in the atmosphere.
But recently with making games becoming easier and the indie scene growing the term has evolved to it's most literal definition.

I can't even imagine how often over all the years on this board you gave this kind of response. You should learn to deal with your anger issues when you read something you dislike and reconsider your life decisions if this is all you can come up with on here on a regular basis.
Just know that you are the cancer of this board with generic replies like this. Definitely consider to stop posting at all.
Joseph Green
Not an argument.
Hunter Clark
Man you need to let it go, stop sucking TDDs dick. It's a walking sim, get over it.Picking a cog up and putting it in the wall doesn't somehow make it leagues better for "puzzles" or looking around and picking up tinder boxes and oil and using it occasionally isnt "inventory management" there's way more in the game than even the worst player could possibly need. If TDD "mechanics" are such big deals you have super low standards.
Kevin Johnson
Yep, "walking sim" has lost all meaning
A walking sim is a game where you do little more than exploring a virtual world. At most you'll be getting parts of the story by listening or reading notes. Got enemies? Not a walking sim. Got puzzles? Not a walking sim. Can you die? Not a walking sim.
Isaac Moore
Pretty sure that's the US cover art.
The european one is pic related
Jack Clark
The first walking sim.
Juan Robinson
t. guy who's only joy in life is japanese having-friends-simulators
Isaiah Adams
I like this cover. I really like this cover.
Andrew Lee
Yes THQ was the US publisher, and they made the cover without input from the devs.
Hunter Clark
So by that definition TMFP is not a walking sim either. It has enemies and you can die.
Ryan Thomas
Correct. The definition is not "game I didn't like".
John Edwards
>I didn't play the game: The post
Those are actually the "puzzles" (they're not puzzles) from AMFP. TDD has ACTUAL puzzles, the sames you would see on an old school RE or silent hill game.
Adrian Carter
It's much closer to being a walking sim though, the enemies if I'm not mistaken appear only in 3 occasions, 2 of them being in only 1 room.
They removed every mechanic from TDD and didn't replaced them with anything for AMFP

Except that isn't a puzzle? Funny you forgot about this one
