About to play this, what should I expect?

About to play this, what should I expect?

You should expect that MY OL' INN IS AS CLEAN AS AN ELVEN ARSE

overrated shit

HURR I SERVE THE BURNING FISTS

You must gather your party before venturing forth.

Not even a little fun?

lol
the sequel is better, the NPC's in it actually have a personality and banter.

Got it during the sale too. Wanted to try a bard, but everything I read says they're shit.

>Walking through a forest: the game
>the worst pathfinding ever encountered in a game

It's great.

It's a surprisingly good game, but the fact you can use Baldur's Gate 2 class kits means you can break the game completely from the start. Always try to dual-class or multiclass so you can actually get good advantages; single classes are weak. If you play a human, get a strong class kit and then dual-class later on so you're not absolute trash. Always dual-class or multi-class into a caster class, because Baldur's Gate 2 almost requires magic to be successful. If you play evil, don't let your reputation drop below 6, otherwise your neutral characters start bitching, and Jaheira is pretty fucking good. Also, if you play evil, make sure that you make your OWN character a thief in some form of fashion, because evil parties are short on rogues on the second game.

Get the mod that gives your companions banter.

>NPC
NPC means Non-playable character you dong

EE edition is trash, pirate The Original Saga and use a mod like BGT and maybe the NPC mod.

Even then, 1 is profoundly mediocre. It at least introduces the characters, and you feel more invested/get cool stuff to carry over to BG2 if you play it through.

Don't listen to faggots, 2 is one of the best RPGs ever made.

EE used to be a far superior version, until the dlc patch that is.
What the fuck were they thinking with the UI/Map changes holy shit.
>have character page open
>go to click on journal
>nothing happens
>have to close character page then click on journal to read it
>journal is now a fucking mess with information missing entirely
Thanks Beamdog.

No, it never was. The Original Saga without beamdog's """improvements""" and with a good widescreen patch is far superior. They fucked up the graphics so hard.

Why the fuck do you want to be a bard you fucking fag

how should I refer to my party members then?

Thanks for the walkthrough. Now I don't have to think for myself!

How did they fuck up the graphics?

Nah, the original EE improvements were great.
And what do you mean they fucked up the graphics?
I mean sure past the dlc patch they certainly did but prior to that it was fine.

BG is free and open and has creative monsters and scenarios

BG2 is linear shit and it's more tolkien-esque and generic. BG2 is popular because it has waifus and because normies couldn't deal with low level D&D rolls

>BG2
>Linear
You haven't played it have you?
BG1 is my favourite game but holy shit you're talking out of your bottom.

It's much more linear than the first game

Everything is linear once you depart for Spellhold. And before that it's still linear as shit, it just lets you do the option linear dungeons in any order you wish

Boo is top tier

You must gather your part before venturing forth

This is bait

Well first, the changes actually broke the fucking game.

Second, Beamdog somehow fucked up and couldn't match fonts correctly, they fucked the UI up, as you said fucked it up more with patches and they removed Original Saga from GOG to push their shit.

No, it's not. Bioware's version is perfectly acceptable, balanced correctly, and doesn't have Beamdog's oh so shitty party member additions.

Party members maybe?

They changed the pixel scaling and added outlines in SoD patch so character models looked really out of place. Took them a few months to add an option to change it back the way it was.

Nothing wrong with the graphics now if you just go to the options but for a time it was an issue.
