Capcom had an open RE7 experience about a month ago in downtown LA. First 4-5 hrs were available to explore and do whatever the fuck you want. Was able to attend, being fortunate enough to tag along with a friend who happens to be a staff writer over at gamingbolt.

Games legit and people are going to lose their shit the day it releases. No one left unimpressed.

RE7 is nothing like outlast though, except the first person view

Having actually played, I can tell you that's not true. Games got the backtracking/map memorization, items, save rooms and difficulty of the first game.

Only difference is a first person view. Which, from what I experienced, was much more scary and immersive with how good this new engine looks.

I bought the collection on Steam and I want to know if I should emulate the first 3 games first to understand the story, or if I can just go straight into RE4 and catch up later. Any advice from longtime fans of the game? I've never played them

That's how the demo has been for me. I've replayed it at least 5 times now.

I've only played bits and pieces of each Resident Evil. Is there a video that sums up the events well?

I know nothing about RE7 and I'm gonna keep it that way. I got it pre ordered and I'm super hyped. But on the topic of good year for games, we get 5 great titles in the first two months of next year.

Resident Evil 7, Yakuza 0, Tales of Berseria, Nioh, and For Honor. Things are looking good.

I personally hate the first person view, and the controls in general are pretty janky.

Having said that, the atmospher is pretty solid(Not as good as REmake or RE2 in my opinion), but I was hoping something more along the lines of REmake, RE2, or RE4 with more of a horror focus.

I'll buy it either way. I'm just not excited at all for the first person perspective.

The only thing we know about the virus in RE7 is that it has a mold/bug theme and the Bakers seem to be its equivalent of tyrants.

RE6 is about a T-rex mothman disguised as a senator recreating his blob monster waifu with a new virus that she then releases which makes a bunch of zombies, and then it also makes zombies-plagas hybrid things that know how to use guns. Also, Not-Nemesis tries to take Sherry, who's g-virus infection gave her dat ass, from Wesker's tryhard bastard son.

Those were actual full game stories taking place in the same place with two characters who interacted on the same related events with the same gameplay and enemies. Re6 was a terribly uneven mess that wanted to try and be everything all in one game. It couldn't make up it's fucking mind. There's a difference between 2s approach to alternative views of a story and 6s approach.

This demo came out months ago. Why is has it been shilled so hard on Sup Forums lately? Is it cause it's less than a month till release?

Every RE can be described like that with a generalization.

It got updated a few weeks ago, and it's about twice as big as it was on release.

First release of the demo was unfinished to make people lose their shit playing it for secrets, final version came out this month, and then was released a little later for PC/Xbone, so now everyone had a chance to play it.

I'm kind of excited sort of. I'm not a huge resident evil fan but I'm playing REmake at the moment and it's fucking fantastic. I've only played RE4-RE6 and I'm not sure Capcom can bring back REmake's atmosphere after experiencing those.

What update? I redownloaded it and the only difference I saw was there was a quick glimpse of a ghost on the stairs and once you get control of the character after being knocked out, a guy walks by. But nothing in the gameplay itself

A door that was locked in the first demo is now unlocked, and there are new endings. Give it a new playthrough, you won't regret it. Just don't let anyone here spoil what happens for you before you do.

I'm glad capcom has shown so little so we can be genuinely surprised at how much shit is gonna go on.

Still, would've done them wonders to show guns being used in the reveal trailer to avoid the Outlast/PT clone accusations and the game being VR was a bad sign at first that the game was just a gimmick using a RE name then we got confirmation the game will be 8-12 hours long. I'm quite giddy for it.
