Attila total war impressions

I am a long term total war player, playing mostly MTW2, empire and Shogun 2 and I finally decided to buy Attila after much skepticism.

My initial reaction is that there is a fuckton of menus and shit thrown all over the place. I can't move units without generals? Wtf! My first battle, UI is horrible, feels more clutered than Shogun 2 and Medieval 2, I felt like I coulnd't see anything. Yes I know you can minimize them but I want to see my unit stats while not completely hiding the battle. The battle felt extremely quick, terrain was bland and barren on quality graphics and I had a hard time keeping track of my troops, everything was just shades of brown

So am I too harsh? Should I play more to have a better opinion? I don't want to go past 2 hours in order to ask a refund

> I can't move units without generals? Wtf!
this is probably to keep you from abusing the Ai with the way the map works. it was too easy to block off the ai with like 1-2 units.

I would play it some more to get used to it. I really didnt like the way the new map worked at first either.

Its garbage dude, and its fans have become the most annoying and cancerous fanbase out of all the TW games.

most of the things you're criticizing were introduced to the series with Rome 2 and they haven't removed them since
It's literally a direct improvement over Rome 2 and it's better than Warhammer

Are the new features cool once you get into? I'm not some dumb fuck but holy shit it's a completely different beast from Shogun 2. I found Shogun 2 UI simple, art design was great, map were not as detailed but it was so much easier of keeping track of everything. And that's coming from someone who had no interest in japanese history.

Is it just me that can't transition or is it truly a clusterfuck?

it takes a lot of getting used to, at the very least
they put in a lot of retarded ideas with R2 and the later games suffer because of it

I don't know what to tell you other than you'll have to get used to it if you want to play it

I jumped right into Atilla and had no problem with the UI probably just the transition

Playing a horde or perma-migratory barbarian faction and razing the world is the best part of Attila. Just pirate it so you don't go over two hours if you're so unsure.

Attila is my second favorite after Medieval 2.

You should just refund it if you are scared to play over 2 hours

>and its fans have become the most annoying and cancerous fanbase out of all the TW games.
Nope, that's still M2fags.

How are battles? Would going to Rome 2 be a significant downgrade?

Dead wrong. Warhammer is a pile of irredeemable trash and the fans are human garbage. Far, far worse than any other game in the series.

Not our fault M2 is still the best ;)

It's not even better than M1 but nice try :^)

To be honest, I thought M2 fans were over exagerrating about how good it was but the pace of battle in Attila felt... wrong. Maybe total was has just evolved in a way that older total war fans cannot appreciate?

I actually still love the original medieval. It has a certain vibe none of the other games have. I think it captured the mood better than any game in the series. It's also still a good game

Is the dlc worth buying?

yeah battles got quicker.

Look up the differences between the engine used for Rome and M2 and warscape, which they had used for everything since Rome w

Shoulda bought Warhammer instead, it's much better.

Fuck off. You're only saying it's bad because it's a fantasy setting. Got any proof that you actually played it?

Fuck no, they have long surpassed them in terms of sheer cancerous behavior and obnoxionsess. This isn't debatable.

I agree. M2TW is still a lot better than most modern TW games.

Now the only one I might be willing to give a try to is Warhammer.

But I got burned by Shogun 2 and Rome 2 so I'm hesitant

If you don't like either of those then you wont like Warhammer.

Aaaaand the human filth that are warhammer fans have arrived have fun with your 5 minute "battles" and "seiges"

Big no battles in warhammer are over before you know it especially if you didn't like those games

Warhammer? More like Autoresolvehammer, LOL

Warammer is more streamlined and dumbed down than both of those games.

I agree with you completely. My biggest regret with this game is playing more than two hours so I can`t refund it.

Well shit. Thanks anons, guess you guys saved me some money

>Fuck no, they have long surpassed them in terms of sheer cancerous behavior and obnoxionsess. This isn't debatable.
Yes it is. They're getting up there but it'll take a lot to dethrone rabid M2fags as the most obnoxious autists out there.

I played Attila during the free weekend and I fucking loathed it even more than vanilla Rome 2. I guess it doesn't help the time period its set in is boring as fuck.

Warhammer worth buying? 50ish syrup dollars

>time period its set in is boring as fuck.
subjective. i personally loved burning rome to the ground

kurea hasumi

Should have tried charlieman

Med2 fags hardly even exist anymore, its the exact same case with the shitposters that complain about sonyggers. They're the only ones left that actively shit up the boars, it doesn't matter how terrible the previous group was if they're not there to do ot anymore.

>not defending Civilization

>tfw M2fag

I will never give up my fight

Yeah I know its subjective. Thats why WHATS THE BEST TOTAL WAR?! always just boils down to people saying the game set during their favourite period of history.

>WRE
>Civilized

For M2 yes but Shogun 2 and FotS that's not true, the level of polish, simple yet effective combat

attila battles are extremely fast too you tard.

130 hours in it here.

Most played game of 2016 so far. Really fun. DLC is pretty damn jewy though, but King and The Warlord is probably the best of the lot. Even then, you can pick and choose what you want, but its still pricy. I think it's a lot of fun, but it's not without some serious flaws that I hope will be improved in the future. OST is mediocre, magic is kinda shit.
