Fuck blizzardshit, this here's a man's RTS
fuck off plebs
...
Rise of Nations is my personal all time favorite
>Nations are similar enough that you can instantly play as any nation, but different enough that each one takes time to master
>Almost all but a handful are useful and have their own set of great units, abilities, etc. (the dutch and a few other factions are just garbage)
>The 4x/RTS blend works really well
>Wars scale up in a fun and thematic way that really makes you feel like a civilization moving through time
>End game techs prevent stalemates.
it's wonderful. i go back to it often.
My first RTS, still my favorite along with SupCom and C&C Generals
red alert 2 is my personal favorite. I'm not saying it's technically the best, or super competitive, but it just all comes together perfectly for my tastes.
never played homeworld, should i check out the remastered collection?
Age of Empires II
Thank you based Nutra-Grain CDs
definitely
it's one of the best sci-fi stories ever told in a RTS as well
Metal Fatigue
my nigger
Yes, the only downside is it doesn't have Cataclysm
ITT PLEBS
you guys are alright
dont go to Sup Forums tomorrow
DID SOMEONE SAY RTS
Not the best but very underappreciated imo
that one

KAKA KAKA KAKA

Pic not related
I only had that game as a kid and could never beat it past level 3 or something.
Was it hard or I'm just a shitter?
Holy shit I played a demo of this so long ago and could never find out what it was.
Thank you.
it is that hard
level 3 is alright, but i think the 7th is where it gets hardcore, as youre in the middle of two different camps who try to shit all over you and can destroy you very easily
you should reinstall it user
I could never get fast enough to play against other people in RTS games, but I still really liked WC3.
TAKA! Man I miss Bullfrog ;_;
isn't this more of a god game?
...
you are the shaman that leads the people, and control everything so i'd say it fits
i liked war3
RTS?
does this count
probably not really
excellent game heavily underrated
you're right. it's been years
>remember Commandos being hard as fuck
>reinstall
>completely breeze through it with no problem
huh
>tfw nobody else here played this
bullshit
what about the sequel
or the third one with goddamn time limits
Is Yuri the most OP and broken faction in any RTS ever?
I loved it graphics. It had a sort of "encyclopedia with drawing" style to it. Only wish there were some more civs.
hm, I was only ever into bw and war3 mostly for dota, but I watched the ESL coverage of Ting's Invitational this year and was pretty impressed; think it's probably better than dota
>Prism Tank
Nah.
I could never made it past that level where the sea level was rising and you had to move your tribe before drowning.
No, it's an RTS in the strict sense of the word. You manually select which buildings you want and if you want your basic indians to become specialized indians. The only thing you don't really control is resource gathering and indian spawning. The powers are no different from WC3 hero skills
No.
Agreed. Had a lot of fun with this one, shame how hard it bombed.
Total Annihilation.
The ending to the Core Contingency is maybe the best ever.
Fight a galaxy spanning war.
Start to lose the war.
Develop a plant to implode the galaxy to destroy your enemy.
not him but Com2 is much easier than 1 since most of the guys can do many things
if its the one im thinking about, its kinda okay after the beginning, you just move a bit and summon angel of death at the end which makes you win immediately
Too bad that the expansion fucked things up making the gringos the most OP civ in the game.
Also disliked that you couldn't build walls. I remember I had a friend who only played AoE2 and I showed RoN to him and we played a couple of matches, I always destroyed him because you simply can't defend your borders effectively without walls.
And end game is just plain broken nigga. Almost infinite and instantaneous resource gathering, immediate unit creation and nuke shield.
It was basically legit cheat codes.
>watching them drop the ball with planetary annihilation
how did they fuck up so bad?
Commandos would be more like RTT, although even that it's not a pure example because Commandos and games like it were their own thing. Some weird puzzle/stealth/RTT hybrid.
>mayans in AOE 2
close but no cigar my friend
Is that that lovecraftian cowboy game?
I unironically believe that CoH1 is the best RTS ever made. The amount of depth that game had was incredible and how everything functioned properly despite sounding OP as shit.
It's basically dawn of war 1.5, they successfully implemented all of those mini tactical elements from DoW and mixed them with base building
>fellow desperados bro
There are dozens of us!
Where the fuck can I buy C&C Generals?
>Is that that lovecraftian cowboy game?
you're probably thinking about hard west
What was added since the release ? From what I remember, the heavy cruiser were OP as fuck and the frigates useless
SO WHAT IS BEST Sup Forums:
>no base building, handful of units, more tactical than strategic
>simple base, no research, no upkeep
>simple base with customization
>complex base, simple research
>complex base, complex research
All of it. I see no reason to limit myself to only one type.
gookclick
armchair strategists are a riot because they don't do anything competitive enough to be rigorously evaluated
Dota 2
How is that game anyway? Never got around to playing it.
>no base building, handful of units, more tactical than strategic
damn that game was gory
No, Tyber Zahn in EaW is
Why are expansion pack factions always the most broken. Are devs just lazy by this point and don't properly playtest?
Supreme Commander (+Forged Alliance +FAForever)
I think there even were some FAF bros over here.
In Rise of nations thrones and patriots it was basically impossible to beat the americans if they reached the final age because they had a fuckload of exclusive final age units that were 10 times more effective than anything anyone else had. The marines were the better standard infantry unit in the game, and I believe that they also had some ridiculously op stealth bomber
This one.
