Are females still 50% of gamers?
Are females still 50% of gamers?
no
Your mom is 50% of your genetics fag.
Without defining what gamers means you cannot have an answer. The 50% statistic was found using a definition that includes anyone that fancies any type of video game at all. Including those who play mobile games. This statistic would be different if you used a different definition of gamers.

Is Farmville still a "game"?
>50%
NEWSFLASH: PLAYING FREEMIMUM MOBILE TRASH OR FACEBOOK "GAMES" WHILE SITTING YOUR FAT NASTY ASS ON NATHAN'S DICK WHILE WAITING FOR CHAD'S CHECKS TO BE CASHED, BLOGGING ABOUT YOUR NEW SHOES YOU BOUGHT WITH ARTHUR'S MONEY, SIPPING FROM YOUR BITCH CUP WHILE TAKING SELFIES IN THE FAT CHICK ANGLE COMPLAINING ABOUT FEMINISM TO MARTIN, DOUBLE JOBBING JAMAL AND RASHID WHILE LUIZ IS POUNDING YOUR GROSS ASS CUNT NEGLECTING YOUR TENTH INTERRACIAL KID AND PLAYING THE VICTIM WHEN HE SCREAMS AT YOU FOR BEING A TERRIBLE HUMAN BEING DOES NOT MAKE YOU A GAMER
> still
I wish people would stop using retarded made up words like "gamer".
only if you count playing shit on a phone as gaming.
Also, fuck you captcha, a bunch of breadsticks next to a dish or marinara is not a pizza
Us gamers, huh? How do you show your gamer pride, friend? Do you wear subtle gamer clothing like this?
People say we don't have a life, but we have many!
never were
everyone who owns a smartphone can be considered a "gamer" nowadays, so in that sense yes they are.
Yeah, right.
If I hop online on any of the popular AAA games like Call of Duty, GTA, Battlefield etc, 95% of the time there won't be a single woman on there.
Mobile gaming doesn't count as gaming, the only reason its considered gaming is so that people can say "hurr women play games too"
not reallly, who ever made this statistic up uses anything and anyone who downloads these games. Most of the time it's mothers download free shit to keep their kids quiet. There are female gamers just not as large as most people say.
Hahaha holy shit
Why not? Why is their arbitrary time waster better than yours?
If anything maybe you could embrace the idea because anytime someone bitches about the idea of girls need to be catered to and allowed into the gamerspace just use that bullshit statistic and say it's already happened. Females have their own games that market and appeal to them and it's a massive chunk of the industry. Making their goal already accomplished.
No. Its SJW bullshit
>still
were they ever?
...
Noice.
Not after gamergate theyre not.....
not him but would you call a person a chess fan when all they play is checkers, and even then occasionally plays them?
Or would you call a person an alcoholic if they only drank light beer and only at parties?
Or call a person a movie buff when all they see is Disney movies?
you
top kek
To be a chess player you need to play chess. Checkers isn't Chess in any capacity and their similarities are pretty superficial. Vidya is just digital games period.
Alcoholism requires an addiction. You could be the heaviest of drinkers and if you know how to hold your shit down you're not really an alcoholic.
Movie buff is a somewhat decent analogy.
But ultimately this stat is about buyers, not devoted hobbyists or whatever you want to call them. Someone could buy shit on consoles and PC but isn't that devoted past casual shit.
Nope.
Back in 2014 no, because all they played was garbage like Angry Birds and League of Legends. Now even Sup Forums wrongfully considers """games""" like Overwatch and Hearthstone to be actual video games, despite them being on the same level as the aforementioned garbage, so I guess women make up 50% of gamers for real now.
go out sometimes
Why do you care? Play video games.
They call themselves gamers after playing shitty phone games and stuff. All these "girl gamers" on youtube are laughable.
>To be a chess player you need to play chess. Checkers isn't Chess in any capacity and their similarities are pretty superficial. Vidya is just digital games period.
why not? you have a checkered board and two sides and pieces to move, they don't have the same rules but they are made out of the same stuff.
Now use your point about checkers on phone video games.
Pretty much if you demean something in its basic form you can argue that MS Paint is a video game. But
You are right that it depends on consumer reports.
Most women like I said buy this stuff for their kids.
They are not a part of core market and so irrelevant, basically what said but less /r9k/.
The thing that triggers people and kinda should is that big companies orient themselves towards girls and it's pretty much the same thing as if victoria secret oriented themselves towards guys who like to put on panties and bra on themselves and masturbate at themselves in the mirror. It is a market but not significant enough to center your vision around.
At least link statistic, faggot.
Actually just over 50% since we inherit our mother's mitochondrial DNA.
To be able to call yourself a chess player -or anything else- you have to occupy most of your spare time doing that. otherwise you are someone who just likes chess.
Two people playing postal chess with a move every week aren't chess players
Some kid who plays chess at the school chess club 1 day a week for an hour isn't a chess player.
A Chess player is someone who keeps up with and watches the grandmasters, goes to chess parks and chess cafes on most days, works out strategies and genuinely has interest on playing it alot.
Likewise; A gamer is someone who spends near all of their time playing games, doesn't have to be mlg pro, doesn't have to be a streamer, just has to spend near all of their spare time playing games.
Playing candy crush or farmville on the bus to work 5 mornings of every week doesn't make you a gamer, playing overwatch with your friends 1 day a week doesn't make you a gamer
Owning a shit ton of expensive merch doesn't make you a gamer.
Simply having an interest in the topic doesn't make you a proper part of it, you have to actually be involved and involved deeply.
It's not a good thing to be classed as a gamer.
...
yes thank you for fixing my analogy.
Well, the statistic was created to explain that women *would* be open to games, and that most video games fail to market to a very large potential demographic.
Some people think it means 50 percent of steam users are women. Wrong. Some people think it means girls only play mobile games. Also wrong. In reality, it means that women are open to games as a concept, but are often alienated from mainstream gaming products, and remain uninitiated, especially from AAA games.
Not females, but fe(male)s.
>SJW
Not exactly, but not too far away. Companies want to increase their profits, so they look everywhere. Historically, the female demographic hasn't been very interested in their products. (products: violent, action filled games that appeal to men)
They notice the blue haired fat dyke in the corner screaming about masculinity so fragile and the reason women don't buy games is because Lara Croft has a big bust and they think, HEY let's try this for a while, wouldn't hurt right? Maybe there is something to this stuff the landwhale is spewing.
So they do. And as a result, you get nu-lara and the rest.
I wish people wouldn't be as triggered by it, it's there for a reason because it works, it's an efficient way of describing someone, you know more or less what you are getting. Other mediums are by definition different so the terms associated with their enthusiasts differ also so you can't fall back on the comparisons to "book worms" "movie buffs". Many people ride motorcycles yet you know exactly what is meant by the term "biker" and your own embarrassment surrounding the term wont change it.
They never were 50%. It's fake news that the media shilled.
When you put it up against real demographics by companies like Nintendo, they find that it's over 90% male.
>it's there for a reason because it works
Yeah, to describe empty-headed retards like you who define themselves by their entertainment of choice.
Hey guys, who else here is a movier, or a booker?
So what about the dudes that stick to only playing Call of Duty or sticking to only sports games or MOBAS?
I can't for the life of me find anyone IRL who's interest in vidya going past that point, even the dudes. You rarely find someone who takes a genuine interest in vidya past that narrow interest.
>actually caring about this
Sure, I consider myself an avid reader.
>good looking man turns into a good looking female
how
110% of gamers are females
>just market to a demographic that "could" be into games but probably won't be
>alienate the consumers at your base
Yeah sounds like a great business strategy
The problem isn't really if they are worthy of being a called of "gamer" but the idea some people have that "50% of gamers are female therefor all games should start taking steps to appeal more to them" when in reality those women are only playing a specific subset in the first place.
>implying there aren't already terms for those
I mean if you're going to be retarded just let everyone know before you post.
You sound like an obnoxious bitch to be around. Do you throw a fit too when some says they're a jogger or a biker too?
>Hey guys, who else here is a movier, or a booker?
Movie buff and book worm, what distinction do you garner from someone who describes themselves as such? don't get hung up on any hint of pretentiousness given most people who sink a lot of time into movies and books will say something along the lines of "Yeah im a bit of a movie buff or book worm" given that any other description will be long winded and ironically pretentious "Yeah I would say I watch and analyze film/literature more than the average person".
When it comes to "gamer", you know that someone who describes themselves as such has at least a minimum amount of interest in the medium and sinks a non trivial amount of time into them, especially in their free time, you know instantly that hearing this word means the person is almost certainly not someone who only plays tetris or candycrush during their commute and has basically no knowledge of gaming outside of "the kids love Call of Duty nowadays".
I understand the reservations surrounding defining your whole identity around being a "gamer" but in most circumstances it's entirely appropriate.
You're right, I should tailor my 50 million project to a market group that has up til now shown no interest in such a thing. This will certainly work out for me.
>cinephiles and bookworms don't exist
Except they do, user. They do exist.
Honest question Sup Forums, does anyone actually unironically call themselves "gamer". I feel like the only one that use that term are from journos, but they aren't exactly relevant anymore.
Because the sense he's good looking is pretty transferrable.
He's a slim dude with a soft face and pretty eyes who became a slim woman with a soft face and pretty eyes. It's not like he was Joe Magsniello or some guy who looked good because he was masculine.
I call myself a person who plays games quite often in my free time and im interested in the medium as a whole.
Or I could just call myself a gamer and let those that are so hung up on the baggage surrounding the word spaz out in the corner spouting
>I AM NOT DEFINED BY GAMEZ, I AM COOL AND INDEPENDENT
What will so-called Gamers do when mobile games reach a threshold where they're free to play services exceed those of console or PC sales? What happens when it becomes the new core markets
>when mobile games reach a threshold where they're free to play services exceed those of console or PC sales? What happens when it becomes the new core markets
that's already the case user
Statistics based on respondents should be banned
t. Ass blasted gaymer mad he shares his hobby with candy crush addicts
