Both are really good. I prefer the feel of the DS4 in my hands but I've went through 3 of them due the R2 trigger breaking. The xbone controller is still really great and I've had no problems with my launch one for whatever it's worth.

The d-pad argument is literally the only thing people have against the 360 controller. You play platformers just fucking fine with it, what a non-argument. The only problem you might have is when you need precise d-pad movement for fighting games combos. Even then you can just get a controller with a custom d-pad. Other than that it is the best controller ever made.

I used to love Xbox controllers hands down just because of the way they fit in your hands, and the controls didn't feel too loose. I hated PS3 controllers because of this, too light, controls too loose, and it felt like was gonna break it just by picking it up. I don't understand what it is with PS4 controllers though. They feel nice and comfortable in my hands, and it's much more sturdier than the PS3 controllers, yet they still follow the typical Play Station controller concept.

I never understood the random hate on the touch pad. It works just like it should and it's basically a multifunction select button, many games make good use of it by letting you scroll through maps.
Even when you use it on pc it's miles better cause you can use it as a fucking mouse which is great for games with not very good gamepad support, risk of rain would be a prime example of this, the menus can't be navigated with a controller but playing the game without one is retarded.

I'd appreciate this controller more if the D pad didn't look like shit.

On the PS4 proper it's quite literally a useless gimmick hamfistedly shoehorned in (mostly in exclusives)
Yes you can say pan or zoom the map in some games but at least in my experience it's much easier to just use the analogs/triggers for that purpose

Take let it die for example, I can not think of a way for the mushroom menu to work better in any way or form without the trackpad.
Bloodborne, dark souls and many other games tend to split it up by having different functions when clicking the left or right side of the touch pad.
Calling it a useless gimmick is plain wrong, once again, it doesn't take anything away, it only adds options.
The main reason why everyone's fucking complaining is most likely cause microsoft didn't put it in their controller making most multiplats neglect the capabilities.

It's a lot better than it looks, it's 8 way and it feels better than the dualshock one.

It's great so far, still have to set it up though. The analog sensitivity is so high you can almost regard it a trackpad, no movement needed. Triggers feel strange though, they're heavy and bulky, I'll probably remap those to the macro buttons on the back for games that make heavy use of L2 and R2.
