I don't play captain's edition, what am I looking at here?

Don't make me tell you again
spot the newfriend
>Fly to an area
>Your ship is invaded, you lost a crew member, everything is on fire now, and all your weapons were stolen. Also the bandits decided to silence you so you are in a fight starting now.
This is fair and fun, I enjoy games that do this.
Aww, do you need your bottle?
>Take bottle
>Do not take bottle
>both options are a 75% rng chance to aggro a pirate ship.
why
Mantis refugee and engi cruiser.
Fuck everything.
>hull breach
>fire
>invaded
>crew mind controlled
"I love autistic rng" - the game
>One of the only roguelike games ever made to not have a "guaranteed good thing drop" anywhere in the entire game on any area.
>Boss is a literal gear checklist of "did you get these items?"
>the "your shields or engines are disabled" event can happen at the beginning of the game
>mfw getting it 3rd jump
I've only beat it 4 times
The multiplayer mod for this game is a huge pain in the ass to get working, but when you get a group its tons of fun
I love stealth cruisers.
I'm not even being ironic, over one fourth of my runs have been done in stealth cruisers.
no, I don't like suffering. it just looks cool. A type gives you nice weapons, B type gives you a big beam, C type gives you a fancy drone
of course you won't have enough scrap to augment it well for the final battle in hard, but that's the part of the fun!
I've only beaten FTL once, on Easy, in Slug C.
Should I give Captain's Edition a go?
CE has much more RNG, but if you want to have sex with your crew members then go ahead
Even more RNG than the original? Does it just have you roll dice for encounters and play a round of riichi mahjong vs the rebel flagship?
I would suggest that you should try it after you get a win on normal. by the time you do so you would have gotten hang of the base game, so when you jump in you won't be too shaken by the all new stuff being thrown at you(and you can get to throw at others).
alternatively play the fuck out of the base game until you get all the ships, do a save wipe, do it again, and then play it. by the time you do this it becomes a chore more than a challenge. this takes about 100+ hours, which is roughly 50~200(maybe even 500) games, depending on how gud you are at this game.I did that myself.
Well if you do something to negatively effect your crews morality (not all ships are like this) every time you encounter a rebel ship there is a chance one of your own will kill one of your crew members and join the rebels
I thought this game was cool but it actually requires you to have very specific setups to actually beat the last boss
It appears like 70% of weapons, abilities etc. are just to annoy the player when the enemy uses it and a hindrance when they are item drops for the player because they don't fit into "how to beat the boss" formula
>Here an EMP field constantly booting off your engine
>Oh the enemy send a boarding drone
>Oh and your ship is on fire why not
>Oh and here is a pirate ship with hacking device that target your shield
>Oh and they use shrapnel
>Hey, but at least you got a lanius crew member!
This. The RNG killed this for me.
FTL final boss feels sane after trying this one out.
specifically, slug and rock, and lanius to a lesser degree. I believe some ships with pirate origins do have similar effects, but never played around much because they're all subpar.
stealth ships however are a completely different story.
missiles. like in other games, when the enemy can bring out consumables that has a big effect at the cost of limitations, it gets incredibly frustrating because the player is one, while the enemy isn't.
>hull breach
>fire
>invaded
not a problem if you have standard crew.
>crew mind controlled
you don't have mind controll yourself, or not even a hacking system?
eh. you can farm a long time in this game, unlike ftl. And the fact that the MCV's weapons can attack the final boss helps as well.
What is this? Not regular FTL, right?
None of that can happen all at once solely because of RNG. This game isn't even hard, please don't tell me you had any trouble with it.
although it wouldn't count, it's possible in CE.
artillery lasers are not so fun when you are on the receiving end.
>farm a long time
That might be my issue with the game.
While the little buggies are great to order and ramming an enemy with dual chainsaws is fun, it just doesn't have the same draw as FTL.
Or maybe I can't get autistic enough about it like I did with FTL on release.
That's enough whining for one FTL thread. Git gud , faggots.
thing is, it SERVERELY lacks contents compared to FTL.
I mean, it's an okay game since the system is there and it works. However it did in fact lack a good number of encounters until they added new ones some time after the release. And it still feels like it due to how long you can play a single run in this game.
But in Convoy's defense, the sheer content FTL bring on the table, along with the large captain's edition, it's the FTL that's out of the norm. It's THE first successful kickstarter game for a reason.
when you compare your average Hersheys chocolate bar to a Gigantic Ferrero Rocher valentine day package obviously the former will look worse than the latter.
FTL Multiplayer game when?
>Git gud , faggots.
seriously. I bet these guys don't even have 100+ hours of playtime.
impossible due to how game is made.
along with how to deal with pausing. suggestions were made, like in a way how BFG:A does it, but doesn't look like there's going to be one anytime soon.
Adapt and overcome mother fucker
There is something similar called Tachyon. Its a stand alone game with FTLs assets and mechanics
>All these shitters
Neo-Sup Forums everyone.
shit, meant to quote looks like homeworld at a glance. is it good?
>
Sup Forums was never 'gud'.
>is it good
Its over complicated for the sake of being overcomplicated. Playing it solo is nearly impossible, but if you can get a group of friends to play it then give it a try. Its free anyway
You now realize that FTL is a game about working for the evil empire and that's why you lose so often
not like the rebels are much better.
just because they have a point doesn't justify them 'liberating' human colonies and wiping out aliums. even those poor engies!
Fuck this game. I just had a run where I got killer augments and weapons and a ton of scrap, then got marooned in a culdesac of the map before the rebels caught up to me and no stores to repair my hull.
Git gud
Megatron?
>stealth cruiser
>modules but no weapons in the stores except one with a heavy laser at the start
>get murdered at the last stand because dual laser, heavy laser and mini beam
Git gud
tips fedora
That's what i said to your mom in bed last night.
