>posts Amiga

I lol'd

that's the joke

how you got that mouse connected on the pic tho

Amiga WAS PC gaming in the mid to late 1980s

Show some respect

at that time by PC you usually meant IBM PC tho, no?
Amiga was Amiga. Same with Atari. Lines of computers.
Correct me if I'm wrong tho.
I know nothing about old PCs aside from what I watched online.

Everyone repeat the PS4 gaming mantra after me:
.
.
.

Many games weren't released on PC until the 486 era

Some franchises you may of being as being PC classics started on Amiga & Atari ST

At least you can play games on it

nah, I know. Watched too many videos about that stuff. I wish I had one, but kidna too expensive to ship them here.

I was mostly asking if "PC" abbreviation was mostly reffering to IBM PC or Amiga/Atari used it too?

>PS4
>Games

If the annual Playstation network shutdown isn't in progress.

>PC
>Functional

>He seriously thinks games don't crash on PS4 / Xbox One / Wii U

Have you played them?

Nah, I'm just mad I wasted 2k on this shit computer and hardly anything works on it. I've consulted every forum, fix, and word of advice just to encounter the same issues with another game.

>900p at 20 fps is "functional" for console gamers

The Amiga era wasn't bad

About 6 years of not needing upgrade hardware

Easier to use than Windows, so normies would be interacting with games via a keyboard

Solid 2D performance, enough 3D grunt for flight sims

Nice bright punchy graphics on a CRT

>things that user made up for a thread
At least I hope you aren't that inept.

Yeah, people typically use "PC" to describe IBM PC's and their clones. I mean it's a pointless distinction since there's no reason Apple, Commodore, Sinclair and Atari products wouldn't be "personal computers" but whatever, the name just stuck.

Everyone repeat the Nintendo gaming mantra after me

"Mama mia, this is diarrhea!"

Game publishers printed "PC DVD" on the boxes, when they meant "Windows Computer".
So the correct term would be "WC".
That stuff has nothing to do with the IBM PC design anymore.

Stop lying to yourself, you know building a PC is a huge scam.

Yeah, the Amiga 500 was great for games, and the graphic were better than MS-DOS/Windows games until the 486 era with VGA.

Amiga 1200 was a nice machine that didn't get supported as Commodore waited too long to release it and didn't know what the fuck they were doing at that point. They also should have supported a controller with more than one button at this point.

My "journey" through gaming was TI-99/4A -> Commodore 64 -> Amiga 500 -> Amiga 1200 -> PS1 -> PS2 -> PS3 -> PS4 with some MS-DOS/Windows games sometimes after the 1200 proved useless.

Was the Atari ST better than the Amiga?

kek

>Was the Atari ST better than the Amiga?
Of course, GEM is superior to AmigaOS and the ST has native MIDI and a better monitor.
Perfect for music production and other serious work.

I had an Amiga, my friend had an ST. The discs were single sided on the ST, so could only hold half the info that an Amiga disc could.

Games were fairly comparable for ones released on both systems. I think Atari only had 16 colors on screen while Amiga could do 32. I could be wrong about the Atari specs though.

obviously it doesn't meant shit today
it meant shit back in the day

Amiga was an impressive computer for the time, but the Commodore still had the most amazingly varied and high quality library I've ever seen in a console or computer.

>I am too stupid to put Legos together so it's stupid and a scam.
Sure user.

But Legos are fun to put together
Putting together a computer is just a chore you have to go through to get to the fun part.

"PC" nowadays is exclusively chink shit, which barely works.
Shit like AMD GPUs killing motherboards while drawing to much power through the PCIe connector.
Chinks, who forget VRM cooling causing house fires.
Chink drivers stopping fans and killing GPUs.
Happens all the time.

>exclusively Chink shit
If you buy cheap Chink shit
>AMD
that's a good one user.

If your gonna be such a cry baby about plugging things in then that's your problem. Even my 12 year old nephew built his own functional machine user, but his IQ isn't in the low teens, so I guess just get a pre built or ya know, quit bitching.

post best amiga music, fags

>Defending current chinese pc parts
Yeah no, I don't like bad hardware, consoles are becoming more reliable.

you know the PS4 is just an AMD APU with some SOCs bolted on to handle everything that the APU doesn't do right

I am, probably going to be one of the smarter decisions I've made. I can't believe you build your own garbage machines. Have fun playing games that just crash and freeze.

Aye

>Not gaming on an IBM 5100

Pleasantly surprised that this is a compilation of good real game music and not just a bunch of trashy chip tunes, thanks.

>If you buy cheap Chink shit
IBM doesn't make PCs anymore. Especially not inside America.

It's okay user, I understand. Some people are just aren't smart enough to figure out how to put components together or use google. That's why there are companies that capitalize on the intellectually challenged people like you, charge a fee and build a PC for you. I personally have no issues with machines I build myself. You do you though.

Japanese PS4 works unlike Chink shit.

>any time anything that requires a slight amount of CPU power, the fan kicks into overdrive and sounds like a jet engine.

thanks PC gaming

thanks a lot

shouldn't you be going back to CERN, titor ps you're a faggot

PC IS FINISHED

>Some people are just aren't smart enough to figure out how to put components together or use google.
These people are called chinks and they make parts for gaming PCs.
I mean seriously: How can you forget the VRM cooling? Or draw 90 W through a PCIe connector?

If 15-25 fps is considered "working"...then yeah, sure.

>AMD system
>not chink shit
>AMD CONSOLE especially

Thanks user, I feel better taking the high road on this one. have fun lying to yourself about your trash machine. When you have someone on steam support tell you "Some games just don't work for certain builds, sorry!" it's time buy something else

The hardware works and doesn't cause house fires. If western gamedevs suck at using it, it's their fault.

Get an aftermarket cooler or go into the BIOS and adjust your fan curve.

>be using pre-built dell from 2007
>only upgrade was two more sticks of ddr2 1 gigabyte RAM and a $70 video card
>could play New Vegas at 1080p with mods
>felt good
>most other games crashed
>brother gives me his old rig
>it's about 800% better than my old setup
>can now crash game-from-2016.exe
feels good

post more old setups

Inside a PS4 you find parts you will never get for PC ever:
youtube.com/watch?v=euBlNq5kda0

>The hardware works
Until it doesn't. Are people on Sup Forums really this underage that no one remembers the RRoD? or all the consoles with faulty disc drives? Remember how the Jaguar didn't have cover for the cartridge slot so if it got dirty you were fucked? Consoles have a long history of being cheap, shit hardware.

let's just agree that both PC and Console are both garbage ways to play games.

like this?

listen
some consoles are shit, not all consoles are shit
but PCs have always been PCs, there's no PC2, no Personal Computer CubeCast, it's just PC, so when one PC has an issue, it's issues with PCs

yeah nigga, fuck shitposters

That means you have bad air flow and it's nobody's fault but your own for sloppy cable arrangement or picking parts that don't create a streamlined path for air to flow over your high-temp components efficiently. You're probably creating eddies around hot spots or even blocking air flow entirely somewhere in your case with suboptimal component layout.

How do you pronounce .exe?

executable

You may be retarded, user. I even taught my mom how to put one together.

dot ee ex ee

>you'll never have sexy Sharp PC

It's just one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard on this board, that consoles are made with reliable parts. Part of the reason they're so cheap is because they're mass produced by companies like Foxconn using cheap hardware. There have been so many high profile issues with consoles in the past that you would have to be a literal child to think consoles typically have higher than average quality hardware.

>DOS
>MS Windows/DirectX versions
>Linux
>OS2

>install ms dos 6.22 - 3 floppies
>install cd rom floppy
>install sb16 driver
>install windows 98 - 1 hour
>install vga card driver - not even 3d
>install office 97
>fuck up my pc immediately with a virused floppy and repeat everything

>but PCs have always been PCs, there's no PC2, no Personal Computer CubeCast, it's just PC, so when one PC has an issue, it's issues with PCs
It's an issue with PCs you put together yourself, because all the parts you can buy are chink garbage. Literal trash which barely works.
>You may be retarded, user. I even taught my mom how to put one together.
It's doesn't matter who puts together chink feces, it's still feces.
LEGO is quality product, gaming PC components are trash.

No the vast majority of STs shipped with 720kb double sided drives

>Was the Atari ST better than the Amiga?

The Amiga was better but similar to today, the ST "held back" the Amiga version, so in the event the difference wasn't great. The Atari had rock solid MIDI capability and found its way into many music studios.

Atari users had Cubase. :^)

>so when one PC has an issue, it's issues with PCs
That doesn't even make any sense. Look at the VRM issue with EVGA FTW cards, the issue was with EVGA themselves cheaping out on not providing proper cooling. It wasn't Nvidia's fault (they made the GPU, EVGA made the card) it wasn't Microsoft's fault, just EVGA. They even owned up to it and offered to fix it with either a BIOS update or by providing thermal pads, and if your card failed obviously you could get it replaced. So how is this a PC issue?

This is because mix and match IBM clone garbage ruined the computer market.
This kind of problem wasn't nearly as prevalent with computers before that.

>ruined
aka popularized.
any popular system would have some sort of issues.

mine was a pentium 1 233mhz with no 3d support , it was an ibm clone and a real mess

>This is because mix and match IBM clone garbage ruined the computer market.
>This kind of problem wasn't nearly as prevalent with computers before that.
Exactly.
Building your own computer doesn't mean you design a case and board layout and give it to Foxconn for manufacturing.
It means you pick up components from the Shenzen electronics garbage dump and try putting them together to get HUEG clunky box full of garbage.
Unlike LEGOs, which are precision parts (less than 0.1mm tolerance, otherwise they don't fit together), that chink stuff barely works and produces numerous incompatibilities and crashes.

>use google
Chinks cannot use Google.

Can you just let us know if you were
>a) shilling consoles
>b) shilling prebuilt PCs
>c) just plain shitposting

The Amiga/ST era was better than the Steam gaming PC era

The only thing it lacked was online multiplayer

- better adventure games like Monkey Island
- more simulation games
- strategy games like Sim City & Civilization but without today's bloat
- much much better platformers
- arcade coin op conversions
- much better music. Way better music
- no updates, the games shipped finished
- plentiful couch multiplayer / party games

Why does Sup Forums attract the most autistic people on the planet? Here we have some guy raging over chinks and whining that hardware is all faulty every other post. Yesterday there was some guy raiding every PC thread saying Nvidia was killing PC and PC gaming would never become good until Nvidia was bankrupt. Then of course there was the guy a week or two ago that kept going on and on about how Steam was evil and needed to be destroyed and how digital downloads were evil. Like what is wrong with these people, where you just say the same thing over and over again regardless of whether people are paying attention to you or not?

>Why does Sup Forums attract the most autistic people on the planet?
Yeah, how could that be?
Literal autists!
On Sup Forums!
Maybe, YOU are wrong here?
Don't you have GF to attend to on NYE?

how new?

better color palletes. Nothing beats those limited but expressive colors.

>Here we have some guy raging over chinks and whining that hardware is all faulty every other post.
That's me.
>Yesterday there was some guy raiding every PC thread saying Nvidia was killing PC and PC gaming would never become good until Nvidia was bankrupt.
That was me, too.
>Then of course there was the guy a week or two ago that kept going on and on about how Steam was evil and needed to be destroyed and how digital downloads were evil.
That was me again.
>Like what is wrong with these people, where you just say the same thing over and over again regardless of whether people are paying attention to you or not?
You know, you are replying to one single person on Sup Forums, who creates all the posts you read. There is nobody else here (except shills maybe).
Just you and me. And I know exactly who you are.
You will waste your entire 2017 talking with just one autist on an anonymous image board. How does this make you feel?

Sorry, too old for this shit.

How would the world have been different if the NES was released as a computer, like they originally intended? Would it have fared better in Europe had it been released as a Microcomputer?

エグゼ

probably nothing different, cause it wouldn't affect Japan

I would've loved an NES homecomputer with Family Basic and the tape deck.

The NES' biggest (and actually only) competitor in Japan was the MSX2, a computer. They even released a keyboard for the Famicom, with basic computer-like capabilities. It might be hard to believe, but there was a time when PC gaming in Japan was actually a thing; the death of Japanese PC gaming is a relatively new thing.

I know about MSX, but it kinda died not cause consoles, but cause IBM taking over.
