Seriously it looks pretty boring to be honest

I liked it

The coop is pretty fun but repeditiv
Still finished it in coop

It's meh as fuck. It's better mechanically and the parkour elements are nice but it's just not very interesting. Story, characters, sidequests are all shit. Just free roaming around is about the only enjoyable thing but the location isn't very interesting either do that gets dull fast.

Not a grind fest. The game leans more towards action and less RPG than Dead Island does. The skills you learn are really useful and you'll level up fast enough just doing side quests. You won't have to kill 10,000 zombies just to grind levels out.

Plus the gameplay is fun and you can just have a jolly zombie killing time. Unlike in Dead Island which was just annoying to play.

You don't have to grind and the game is better if you don't. I made the mistake the first time of playing it like a survival horror. On my second playthrough I just went crazy using the best weapons all the time and running from mission to mission and it was way more fun that way.

I saw people doing really autistic things in the game, like sliding back and forth inside a pipe at night for 10 minutes to grind XP, but there's no point in doing that.

It's fun. Don't let these assholes tell you that it isn't just because they decided to play the game by running against a wall or climbing a wall over and over. Play through the game normally and you won't need any grind.

Aside from that, It has a new area added and that one is more open and has vehicles. That's the real fun part.

Story is shit, but the rest, best game of 2015 hands down. (Expansion included)

Some of the best first person melee in any game in a while. More so vs. Zombies because the impacts feet great. Also dropkicking a zombie off a roof has yet to not get a chuckle out of me. I love how the guns actually fucking WORK unlike Dead Island.

I was co-oping with a buddy and he was a higher level then me at the time. Showed up to a crate I was trying to secure, fighting all those human henchmen, my buddy just walked up and fucking blasted them all with one shot.

Then the parkour just happens to be Mirrors Edge tier of fun, maybe a bit slower.

Honestly it's an 7-8/10 just for the gameplay and co-op. To me all the story shit and quests are just filler for running around with my friends and all three of us kicking a zombie to death in a corner.

This. The story can be blah for the most part, though there are some pretty good moments... That are usually ruined by shitty video-gamey shit like forced cutscenes where you do some super awesome shit, and the whole arena nonsense. That was just tedium, but the cutscene was nice. Escaping is easier than level one of crash bandicoot, so I don't even know why they put that in there.

Don't play it on hard, or it will be a total grind fest.
The story is shit, the characters are cliches.
The graphics are beautiful and parkouring about slicing up zombies is fun-as-fuck
It really becomes fun when you get the zip-line
Hard just makes zombies take more hits and means you are plagued by runners.
>I have just purchased the DLC

Playing on hard, not the hardest here...
Should I turn it down really? I feel like I would get something for a newgame+ if I beat it on hard.
Is it really just damage sponge and more runners?

I'm replaying it on hard for the achievement (because I am a total idiot) and am not enjoying it as much. I would rather kill 10 easy zombies and keep the game flowing rather than have to swipe at 1 zombie 10 times and feel 'powerful'.

On normal difficulty, the runners only come at you if you are noise but on hard, you can't get the fuckers off your back.

And the human opponents who can block bullets. But i digress. For all it's flaws Dying Light is fun and looks great. (apart from the prank exploding zombies which look too similar to the normal ones, especially if you are running about fast-as-fuck swiping at everything and don't notice one until you already whacked it and now you're dead)

It's just a prank, bro.

Seriously though, turning it down will eliminate Raises guys from being able to block 30 flaming stars in a row?

I found it really fun. Good combat and not really grindy.

No, just throw petrol bombs and shoot the cunts.

Some of the skills are a hinderance, I found.

>grapple, adds a pointless 'quick time' element
>the one which makes you jump at a wall, turn around and leap to your death. Never worked out what this was meant to be useful for.

I don't have the damn mats for petrol most of the time. I'm not a hoarder.

on hardest mode the zombies end up getting one shotted anyway.

I had absolutely no issue beating the game fromn level 1 on the hardest setting on first playthrough.

If it had been any easier it wouldnt have been engaging to play.

b.b.but Dying Light is literally 'hoarding - the game'.

In the Hard difficulty, at level 12, it takes almost a whole purple weapons worth of durability to kill one regular zombie, headstrikes only.
How did you deal with that?

Rage, usually.
>Come to think of it, I don't think I ever stopped playing DL by thinking 'oh, well enough gaming for now'. I always end the game by rage-quitting.

Youre supposed to grapple and kick and headstomp them. Think fancy footwork and less barbarian.

But I am only level 12.
I don't have half of that shit.
You said you had no hard time from level 1.

Grapple is op as fuck. You can toss human melees and fuck up runners.

The game really is pretty tedious until you unlock a few skills. Head stomp is most important because that is how you will dispatch 95% of zombies.

Zip line is fun apart from those times when you are 'too tired' to use it, for plot reasons.

I know all this. Answer my fucking question, cunt.

One of the best video-game experience i had the last year.

It's pretty good, bought it during Halloween sale and played it for a week straight.

Solo but still managed to complete it. Then I got invaded by hunter who had 1000 hours in it so I stopped playing.

You didn't ask a question, you made a statement, dear boy.

On lower levels, I played safe, kept to high ground, did a lot of looting and made sure I had plenty weapons to throw. I also helped to try and find lone zombies to slice up to improve my skills.

It's more enjoyable than Dead Island.

Fun game but God there are a lot of stupid things about it, like zombies teleporting you into their stupid MASH X TO ESCAPE things, or how they will literally spawn right behind you and fuck you over in some areas

This is a question, M'Lady.

mod your weapons. charging helps. kicking them off roofs helps. everything is mostly useless except for backpack slots and melee skills. Aiming is important in this game. Headshots and some of the skills around them can break limbs or knock them down or stun them in place. Spikes are your friend.

I played through it twice with friends and did a nightmare melee weapon playthrough myself. I enjoyed it.
My friends prefered easy mode to just gib everything like killing floor.
Nightmare is more of a positioning and stealth game.
I actually found it too easy and often grinded legendary levels just to up the zombies dmg and health.
Guns make the game ez mode in normal but make like 6 runners attack you simultaneously in nightmare +.

The fastest way to grind is to go to the turtle market and grab the supply drops from the electric room and run out and back in.
If you dont want to grind just do the quarantine zones cause they are fairly fun mini-missions.
Then the next best thing is do whatever youre going to do, but do it at night for 2x exp (just force it night using a bed. Hope you can run fast.) Then the next best thing is to pick up air drops.

Yeah the quick escape skill is probably the most important one in the game cause of that shit.

The combat can be really fun, just avoid the pitfall of choosing any of the 'harder' difficulties because all it does is turn the enemies into un-fun damage sponges. Yeah the game's harder, but the gameplay really suffers. Just play on normal for the best experience.

webm related, imagine this for every single enemy in the game except most will be even worse

Which sucks because the Hunter segments were fun as FUCK back when the game released. Now everybody is leveled to hell and has these OP combinations that newer players just haven't the slightest chance to defend against. You're always in over your head whenever you queue for the multiplayer no matter if you're hunter or runner.

The reason it did little damage in that clip is because you are doing it wrong.

You missed like 3 of the headshot attacks when you had stamina then all of the other hits are without stamina, so they only do like 30% of the weapons damage while you drain the weapons durability.

Maybe, I just happened to have that clip; but the amount of hits it took to kill a regular zombie, even when purely hitting the head was just too much. I played through the whole game once just fine on the normal difficulty, so the difference between the amount of hits required really surprised me. Not just that, but the amount of hits required seemed really inconsistent. In this webm the damage needed is pretty reasonable, but I've had zombies take 14 hits to the head with an epic, level-appropriate baseball bat while other times I've killed them in 3-5 hits. It just makes the game tedious and unpredictable imho, but that's just me

I've played through it twice, last playtrough clocking in at 48 hours, The Following included.

I'm extremely sad about the story and character department. I love how absolutely DARK the ending is for Crane, and what it means for his friends and Harran in general. The main quest is dull, often nonsensical and moves way too fast. The deaths barely have an impact and you don't get to see the characters too much at all. It could have been one of my all time favorite games if the story was better. Now its just kind of.... there.

The gameplay however, is excellent in my opinion. Sure it has some issues like bad hitboxes and such, but otherwise it is extremely satisfying and fast paced, especially at night time.
The exploration is fun and often even worth it for better weapons.

I also had an idea for a permadeath run on Nightmare difficulty, but it always ends up with me getting bored of the early game. The game takes its time to really get going, what with your skills and the like.

I would give it a nice 7.5/10
Don't pay more than 30euros though for the enhanced edition, and you won't be disappointed.

>not having the stomp skill
step up your game friend.

There's definitely sweetspots to cut off limbs or heads I noticed.

I barely use the stomp skill because its fucking boring. It's one of those skills that circumvents all the fun gameplay

> game is about finding and customizing crazy weapons, like flaming electrified katanas / axes / swords / whatever
> get a skill that is faster and more effective than anything else in the game
> the most optimal way to play the game is to grapple every single enemy into a wall and stomp on their heads, avoiding the need for any combat other than baiting an attack for the grapple

The dropkick is pretty sweet though
