Sam Lake is really talented I think. I've liked all of his games but all of them have also had pretty much the same problems in them. Well Quantum Break was the only one with performance issues but otherwise his games have HUGE amount of style over substance and he purposefully puts his idols and references on a pedestal. I know he does it on purpose but it tend to be distracting at points if something is inspired by Stephen King and he chooses to do it by actually stating it out in-game by mentioning Stephen King.
The games do also have amazing atmosphere, intelligence and actual substance and subtext. Quantum Break especially with all of its problems does have one of the best time travelling storylines I've seen in a game. Gameplay was shit though. Really looking forward to the next game, "Project 7".
