It will score averagely, like mild-6s or middle 7s

It will score averagely, like mild-6s or middle 7s.

yeah probably
i'll still end up enjoying it

So?
When does it come out again?

Depends on how many stages are in the game.

I can see Taxman and co making a full Sonic 5 after Mania.

>implying scores matter
I'm buying it anyway.

whatever e-celeb reviewer shit you watch that reviews with scores such as 'Mild 6' or 'Middle 7' needs to be hung gtfo

I'd rather have a Sonic 4 remake. It really deserves one.
Call it Sonic 4 and Knuckles.

>nu-Sonic
>average
sounds bout right

...

Why not spend the resources a new, potentially better game instead of trying to salvage a bad one that nobody likes

>the game sonic fans waited for since s3&k
>the game their excited for the most
>scores more 6s/7s at best

I doubt it, but then again the media has a hateboner for Sonic

>wont be able to buy this game on steam in fear of being called an autist
will still torrent though

>oh noez what will my steam friends say about me :((((((((((((((((((((
>cancer frog
Kill yourself.

GUYS IAM A CLASSICFAG! LOVE ME!

>pirating the game that might put the franchise back on the right track and needs the most support
it's almost like you want Sonic to go to shit again

I predict an 77-85 on metacritic.

if i can find a drm free version i wont mind paying for it desu

>7/10
>too gamey

Are you okay user?

this image is cancerous but only because its bashing on sonic at its peak, it was AFTER the adventure era that the games went to shit

People sure love to bait, when it comes to the series. don't they?

i think this game looks fine, but so does Project 2017

>adventure games
>the peak
I loved them when I was younger and I don't hate them or even dislike them but 2 and 3 were still better by a good margin.

I foresee 8's and 9's.
Regardless, I'll enjoy it.

The adventure games are clunky junk with literally nothing remarkable about them.
Name one thing they excel at, remember that Metal Gear Solid had fully voiced characters well before.

>sega tries to do things right
>faggots still complain

Soinc haters are getting more cancerous than the retarded sonic fanbase desu

If Sonic 4 can pull low 70s on Metacritic I think it won't be too hard for a game by Stealth and Taxman to hit high 80s at least. Tee Lopes soundtrack is gonna be great too

Shut the fuck up. Sonic games were never that good

Pretty sure Project Sonic 2017 will reaffirm that.

I want to buy another 3D boost game but sega seems to have no interest in making 3D games anymore

I'll get project 2017 when it's in the bargain bin I guess, there's really nothing in this series anymore for me 2bh

This, 7 is the best sonic could hope to achieve and theres been plenty of 7/10 sonics

But Sonic 3 & Knuckles is easily a 8.5/10 game at the very least

Fuck the scores
I only want it to be good

Not with all the trash levels it isnt

Fuck that game and all the dipshits who put it on a pedestal

Of course it will, it doesn't have a "deep, narrative plot", fifty hours of cut scenes, "visceral combat" or a facebook function.

Fuck I hate normie gamers of today.

What about the other sonic game that was annouced? The 3d one?

>"modern" and classic sonic
>3d

nope

>Of course it will, it doesn't have a "deep, narrative plot", fifty hours of cut scenes, "visceral combat" or a facebook function.
>Fuck I hate normie gamers of today.

user I think you've spent too much time on Sup Forums. Doom is doing really well among people's game of the year choosings

Also Overwatch is casual trash

...

Sega should sell the IP to capcom or nintendo

>PC version of the Collector''s Edition isn't available in Europe
It's like they don't even want my money.

I want another game with the budget, story, and locations of unleashed but without the werehog or a modified version of him

Sega should just off Iizuka, problem solved

>or Nintendo
Fuck off.

You already got your nintendo sonic games. Sonic colors and lost world. And they were fucking trash

Fuck off nigger, sega is the only one that can make sonic feel cool

If it were Nintendo kiss the chances of something like Mania ever happening goodbye.

If Nintendo owned Sonic:
>Mania never happens
>Taxman never gets hired to work at SEGA
>Sonic Twitter would be no fun allowed
>Sonic Utopia gets canned
>Sonic Amateur Games Expo wouldn't exist because Nintendo would bring down the banhammer on them if they tried, so no fangames period
>characters go from having too much personality to having none at all

Arin get out

>Sonic Amateur Games Expo wouldn't exist because Nintendo would bring down the banhammer on them if they tried,
>implying Nintendo Community Fangames Convention hasn't been running since 2007

Will this be getting a Switch port as well?

It's digital only so it probably will if the Switch is getting downloadable games. I can't see why it wouldn't, and they'll probably announce it at the Switch event.

>Implying it's going to last much longer with Nintendo's current stance on fangames

All hope died with Iwata

It could score with a 1/10 everywhere and I'd still be more than confident I'd enjoy it, it just looks so fucking fun to me.

Pretty much this. Who gives a fuck about review scores anymore? That goes even double for Sonic games, I'm not gonna say there aren't bad ones but the media definitely has a bias against the series. It's their dedicated punching bag, why would I want their opinion?

Can't wait to play as Knuckles.

I'm doing it because Taxman and the other guys he has on board are elitist retards. They can go fuck themselves for all I care.

They are elitist, but they have the chops to back it up, and that's all I care about.

They can sneer down the other Sonic games I like all they want since they're catering to a type of Sonic I also love but has been dead for a while.

If Nintendo owned Sonic it would actually be seen as a respectable franchise instead of being the MLP of video games.

It will score 9/10s, but we know how worthless the scale is

The only guy who acts elitist is Stealth. Taxman is very down to earth.

Respectable to the general public but to fans, it'd be dead inside. The 3D Mario game on the Switch is the last chance for the Mario franchise to actually have something wonderful between all the stale NSMB copy paste and Paper Mario being literally spat on.

>pros: great sprites, great gameplay, great soundtrack, great indie game
>cons: short, you can end it in a hour. same old stages back. No online. pricey
>7/10

IGN gets paid to hate sonic. Never take anything those cunts say seriously.

>elitist retards

So you're pirating it because of the reason that the game's gonna be good?

>short, you can end it in a hour

Whitehead has described Mania as "bigger than Generations" so I have high hopes for game length

The only really bad things about 4 was the god fucking awful physics and episode format.
Fix that shit and the game wouldn't be complete trash.

It will proably be good, at the very least it will be enjoyable like the Genesis games. But I'm not giving my money to guys who think they are holier than thou and think they know more than the people who originally worked on the franchise for over 20 years.

I'm gonna need a citation on that shit. They've been very happy that Sega gave them this opportunity from everything i've seen.

>think they know more than the people who originally worked on the franchise for over 20 years.

But Iizuka's been keeping the series in the shitter for years

this reads like a fucking politically correct Sup Forums review.

Sonic Team desperately wants to do something other than a vanilla speed platformer but lack the cajones to not put Sonic's name on something for sales (this could also be a shareholder or SEGA nut stomping too though). I just want Sonic games to be Sonic games and the gimmicks can go to new or existing Sonic Team IPs. Like another fucking Billy Hatcher, right SEGA?

I was just thinking like them
>bigger than generations
I don't know if it meant overall with the missions or just stages. Just stages the game was pretty short, but still fun to replay it

Not quite, Graphics would have been rated as 2 due to being "lazy pixel work".

The reason Sonic Team doesn't make new IPs anymore is because Yuji Naka was the one that constantly wanted to make him. But now he's gone and current Sonic Team just continuously pumps out Sonic games instead because that's all they know.

I quit caring about reviews for Sonic games after IGN's Sonic Unleashed review. I'm going to do myself a favour and enjoy Sonic Mania without reading a review written by someone who grew up with Mario, and most likely starred on that one infamous episode of Game Scoop.

I feel like the backlash IGN got from that Game Scoop video will ensure at least an 8. Look at their Fire & Ice review.

This game is going to be featured on Game Grumps, isn't it?

>Gods
Le edge

The fuck do you think?

At this point just ignore them.

I mean does it even fucking matter if it is?

Hey I'm trig'd
I'm not so trig'd
And you're a cis pig

>worse than 06!

That review still makes me seethe in anger to this day

Never trusted reviews again after that, im glad journalists are getting fucked up and starving out in the streets. Fuck them

>Arin tries to hate it with every fiber of his being for stupid, contrived reasons
>Dan will follow Arin's opinion like the Yes Man he is but will occasionally let it slip that he secretly thinks it looks great

>Being on Nintendo consoles means it's made by Nintendo
>sega is the only one that can make sonic feel cool
Really makes you think

Wasn't there a rumor that Nintendo actually did help out with Lost World's development? I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to keep that under wraps after it bombed so Nintendo doesn't lose face.

Well, at least its not Sonic Boom.

Rumors are just rumors, it's in the air but I don't think that was the case, it was an alright game

the bad things about 4 are the awful stages more than anything else, S4's level design is hot garbage
imagine all a game made of the bad stages from Advance 3 and Sonic Rush

the physics are nearly identical to Sonic Rush, except you don't have boost (although, that probably makes a world of difference, it doesn't matter that Sonic's air acceleration and deceleration are completely fucked because you're always being pushed forward in Rush -- but the stage layouts are also generally conducive to always pushing forward in that game, unlike S4)

man, naka was a hack
but he was a talented hack (Billy Hatcher and Rodea's Wii version are clear examples)

fuck me, I can see this happening

it's Sega's own fault for going from 2001-2008 without making a great Sonic game, and in particular, for releasing Shadow and Sonic '06, which were so bad that they pretty much overrode anything good the media had to say about the series

and it doesn't help that you have people who've gone their entire lives without playing Sonic and then they hear about shit like Shadow and '06 and they wonder how the fuck the series was good

>muh steem friendz
you're already an autist, lol

Man, I've always loved the SA2 art for everyone. It's slightly retarded (look at Eggman's "hip" pose), but it's stylish as fuck.

they're fun games, but far from the peak, they've got too many problems for that

No, it was insultingly bad. Its the worst controlling sonic to date, the controls are for the first time a mess since adventure 2, the levels are a clusterfuck, the parkour mechanic is useless since theres hidden springs everywhere, the art is ugly, the story is cringe, and the music is distinctly un sonic like and tries to copy mario way to hard

The game is a disaster

>no N3DS port
>even after Renegade Kid flat out asked Sega he'd do it as long as they'd give him the A-OK

it's entirely possible
but not certain in the slightest

mind you, there's no real reason for it not to happen other than Taxman's and co not having a Switch dev unit, unlike Sega and Sonic Team proper

Autistic > Soulless

At least the Sonic series is fun to look at, user.

If it was as "by-the-books" as Super Mario, it would not be as fun.

it's Mario Galaxy with worse stages and controls, it's far from an total disaster
it's jut not good

and there have been Sonic games with worse controls after SA2 (you know, Shadow, '06, arguably the boost games because Sonic handles like a fucking sack of bricks with a jet engine strapped to it -- but the boost games are at least properly designed around that fact, so it's tolerable)

I won't care unless they port it to the Saturn.

>the music
Fuck you. Tomoyo Ohtani is awesome. Lost World had a great soundtrack.

He's half-right though. There are great tracks in Lost World like Frozen Factory 1 and the final boss theme but then you get songs like the Tropical Coast tracks that sound like they belong in a Mario game, not Sonic.

Sonic can't be "by the books" because they haven't even figured out how to consistently make Sonic good.

Why exactly is that bad though? Even with Colors they were clearly going for the orchestra style similar to Galaxy.

What songs in Colors follow an orchestra style besides the final boss theme, which was modeled after 06 and Unleashed's final boss themes?

The main theme.
Just because they're all not orchestrated doesn't mean anything though. Galaxy had plenty of non-orchestrated songs as do Colors and Lost World.

What about the M&L series?
