1990 is only 3 years away from being 30 years ago.

90's gaming nostalgia in this thread fellas.
...
oh shit
fuck fuck fuck
Can they see me up here?!
that snarky fucking voice
...
technically not 90's, but fuck mang nostalgia pains
90s graphics always make me nostalgic
I don't recognize this, what is it?
This is that scam, typing of the sjw right?
I fucking hate nostalgia meme. Every fucking time someone compares a good 90's game that is actually fun and focuses on gameplay to a modern cinematic experience garbage, there are retards saying "lol it's just nostalgia".
Yeah, sure, everything is nostalgia. Games are just as much fun and are made with just as much love for medium now as in 90s, women aren't more slutty and less competent to be a life-long partners, media aren't more manipulative, Hollywood aren't more stupid and gimmicky, actors are just as good as in the past, same with music and everyone who dares to say that some things were better in the past are nostalgiafags. Right.
Fucking retards
Calm down, I don't feel like that at all. Just wanted to share some childhood memories, you know actual nostalgia, most of the things here are actually still good.
Not really sure what side you stand on with this topic but I still like and play c&c.
Do you know what I am saying?
Jesus fucking christ ol' boy, you've gone and hooked yourself!
get your ass back to bed joel
...
man
I had a copy of encarta 96 around somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find it and get it working
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure, that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse, of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, and I must admit however, such conjecture is futile. Still, questions about whose hands might one day hold my Myst book are unsettling to me. I know my apprehensions might never be allayed... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written.
*bulldozer noise*
The soundtrack to Myst is so fucking good
youtube.com
>people born in 1990 are almost 27
>tfw feel old and I'm 22 about to be 23
I just want to scream
YOU CAN'T CUT BACK ON FUNDING! YOU WILL REGRET THIS!
MAKE A TIME MACHINE
GO TO ATARI IN 1993 AND TELL THEM NOT TO RELEASE THE JAGUAR WITH A CARTRIDGE
TELL THEM TO CHECK THE BUGS IN THE SYSTEM AND RELEASE IT WITH A CD DRIVE AND WITH ALIEN VS PREDATOR AS A PACK IN GAME IN 1994
I fucking saved ATARI and destroyed the evil Japanese monopoly on gaming thus establishing a new era of western gaming
It only gets worse kiddo!
I haven't played Myst since like 1999, what's the best version to go with?
There's a 10th anniversary torrent with Myst, Riven and Myst III; should I go with that?

heres what you need to get through.
1.money
2.hookers
3.and a hobby you enjoy.
save money for an annual trip to get some leg. spend the rest on a hobby thats productive or that you enjoy.
When Timmy still could make engaging games
...
If you go with the torrent, you want to use SCUMMVM to play Myst and Riven, and ResidualVM to play Exile.
Patrician as fuck
Great fucking job, now Kim Jong Un rules the world. SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK WITH TIME?
What the fuck? you can play myst and riven in scummvm?
That's cool as fuck
Don't kid yourself, outside of computers the western gaming scene was pathetic until the japs came in.
Oh shit
long live jools
Don't fuck with my waifu.
>more than half of Sup Forums wasn't born yet when Dr. Brain's Island came out
Kill yourselves.
I was born after Duke3D came out how does that make you feel
Are the Alone in the Dark games any good?
Yup.
scummvm.org
The October 17 update officially added support for Mohawk-based games (which include Myst, Myst Masterpiece, and Riven).
wiki.scummvm.org
wiki.scummvm.org
An additional note: Riven had two different releases: one that came on 5 CDs, and another (as part of the 10th anniversary collection, and thus part of the torrent you were looking at) that came on a DVD. Notably, the DVD version has higher quality, less-compressed images and video.
Yet another note: Exile is completely incompatible with modern systems. Since the rights to Exile and Revelation are owned by Ubisoft (who are doing jack shit with them GIVE CYAN THE RIGHTS YOU LAZY FUCKS REEEEEEEE), they have never been rereleased, and thus ResidualVM is the ONLY way to play Exile. Revelation still works on modern systems though, as far as I'm aware.
Im still playing rainbow six
My very first PC games came from two CDs full of demos (one of it had demos for games published by Apogee).
Blood, Raptor call of the shadows, Zone 66, Mystic Towers, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein 3D, Blake Stone.
I wish I had that CD with me.
Thats great, the SCUMMVM people do stellar work.
Thanks for the info on ResidualVM too, didn't even know that existed.
Now do I have to go fucking around with an XP VM since I'm on linux.
guys i fucking hate adventure games
>phantasmagoria
At least post good games from that time period.
I knew it was modern just by the way it looks so I done a reverse image search and it's an Amiga game that's in development by some hipsters. It just had that "cheap indie" look to it.
My shitty gateway windows 95 machine had captain motherfucking claw and myst pre-installed.
I remember being amazed that you didn't have to type in commands anymore to get shit working. I think I still have my notebook of dos commands lying around somewhere actually
...
looking at it I honestly thought it was canabalt which was a newgrounds game.
I think you need to leave
...
I'm appreciating them more and more as I get older.
I'm 28 now and I only really had monkey island and one of the kings quest games as a kid cause I didn't have a proper internet connection until like 2002 so no pirating; parents hated games too so I couldn't really get anything new.
Play I have no mouth and I must scream. It doesn't have as much bs as some other point and clicks and it's pretty well written
>2010 was 20 years ago

Got this game from Humble. No nostalgia because I never played it in the '90s, but it's a nice change of pace of you're tired of modern games.
damn these commercials are amazing,
>implying girls go to the arcade
damn, i havent thought about this for 25 years.
To all my retrodudes, I would strongly recommend using linux.
It's surprisingly much easier to run shit in linux then it is trying to run an old windows game on win 7+.
Arch and gentoo especially, since it's really easy to get the latest versions of emulators/whatever programs you might need.
haven't you seen the commercials
they do
Gabriel Knight is my homeboy.
Got a 386 for Xmas of '91. This was the 2nd game I got for it. First was Police Quest 3.
...
nice i think we still had a 286 when we first got civ.
who remember this? then Cyan went quiet and made that shit mmo and then got a kickstarter and made that alien game
>1990 is only 3 years away from being 30 years ago.
>tfw turning 40 in 3 years
>kissless
>virgin
Help.
Phantasmagoria was my fucking jam as a kid.
>setting for gore on
>got stuck? can ask a creepy floating skull for cryptic hints
>fmv fun
>slow build then everybody fucking dies
>some plot points and deaths are only discovered if you take the wrong path
Game probably has aged like milk, but as a kid it was lots of fun.
do you at least have your own house
I l o v e d this game. Cherished it.
The first game I ever played was Megaman 2. I couldn't get far of course, I was like 4 and my dad couldn't even beat the damn game.
He eventually got a Gameboy and got my Kirby Dream Land. I felt so damn proud for beating that game.
I still have the original cartridge but I guess the internal battery is dead or something because I usually can't make it past Castle Lololo before the game shuts off.
Hard to believe nowadays that Capcom used to make fighting games other that Street Fighter.
this is actually the best game ever made
>Capcom
>Making games
???
No lie, most of my social skills came from 90s games. I learned how to ask good questions from adventure games, how to work through problems in life, and how to have light banter. I am highly respected and loved by the people I work with (I'm a well paid manager) in large part because I absorbed things.
To keep it on topic my favs include: all Sierra adventures like Gabriel Knight, Space Quest, and LSL along with the Jedi Knight games and Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, and Curse of MI.
It's a shame Telltale shit is considered adventure these days. They are awful and don't deserve the pedigree.
truly the peak of retsupurae.
>talkin' shit about Uru
the platforming puzzles were horrible, I'll give you that
I used to play this, what was it called ?
PUT YOUR 3D GLASSES ON
right in the notalgia
>virgins over 30
why even live you are already damned
man, encarta was the shit
Capcom's art back in the day was legit. Everything Bengus did around the mid to late 90s makes me rock hard. The folks doing the art for Mega Man X and Legends had somewhat different styles, yet were clearly on the same page.
Forgot my picture. Shame that Star Gladiator was kind of unremarkable (even if enjoyable), and also a shame that SFEX just made everyone decide that Capcom couldn't into 3D fighters, despite Plasma Sword and both Rival Schools being awesome
Meant to say
>Shame that Star Gladiator was kind of unremarkable (even if enjoyable) and thus the sequel was overlooked
Guess I'm getting a bit tired
I miss the 90's and early 200's so much, everything was amazing and awesome.

>1990 is only 3 years away from being 30 years ago.
Somehow that makes me feel older than when I actually turned 30 myself. Your age feels somewhat divorced from reality, but when you hear shit like "1990 was 30 years ago" it has more weight since you remember 1990 being the future.
kissless VIRGIN??? the fuck dude
there are girls out there who are as insecure and shy AS YOU. if you stay in your house and never go out you will never meet them
if you get your ass out and go to college or barcades you can meet these people and fuck them and have relationships
good thing I learned that when I was in my early 20s(23 to be exact I am 27 today)!!!!
also if you are home all the time at least do some push ups and sit ups or something,
...
OH FUCK I REMEMBER THAT, OH FUCK
