今年はどんな日本のゲームに適度に興奮していますか?

Mostly VNs. I don't really play jap games other than VNs.

RPGOTY

manliest game

That's a good question. I've already played Tales of Berseria and Persona 5. The only ones that I can think of off the top of my head are Trails in the Sky: The 3rd, Zero/Ao no Kiseki, and the Trails of Cold Steels, but those aren't exactly 2017 games (though I guess you could count TiTS The 3rd since it's coming releasing in English this year). Partially interested in Resident Evil 7, but RE hasn't been great in years, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Might play Nier: Automata, the gameplay looks fun. Should play the first game beforehand though.

Oh, I forgot an obvious one. Dragon Quest XI.

I'm excited for Persona 5. I still can't read Japanese so I'm waiting for the translation.

no, nier is silly overhyped.

this is the only thing to look forward too

>Operation babel
>Fate/extella
>Ne No Kami part 2
>my entire backlog
Welp, see you in 2018.

so what are the general impressions on P5 to those who have finished it?

>wanting spoilerfags to spoil the game
Don't you do it!

It's more fun than 3 and 4. Having actual dungeon design again helped a lot. And there's a bunch of little quality of life changes that really add up.

>Japan is the only country in the world that produces good games
How is it even possible?

Well, there are only a few countries that produce enough games to be worth mentioning.

Better gameplay than the last two games; looks nice to boot. Story's pretty dumb like a cross between 3's darker points and 4's general scooby doo vibe but the characters are enjoyable.

Solid 8 out of 10 for me. Would probably be 10 out of 10 if I was a teenager and more into the story. So if you like that kinda stuff you'll probably love it.

Probably because they just ripped off all the old good western devs like Sirtech and then barely changed anything for 20 years.

Well, Experience and Sting manage to give Sirtech a run for its money. But how do you explain Knights of Knightmare or Yggdra Union user?

>適度に
Why only moderately excited?

>then barely changed anything for 20 years.
this is true, but japs know how to make sequels.

For some reason the west can't remake shit.
They're getting better at reboots like in movies, (note I only say better),but they still suck at sequels. Which they kind of force themselves to make. IPs fucking sell.

Haven't played either so I can't comment. I don't think there's anything wrong with copying Sir-tech though. They were a great dev and after 8 failed I think the west more or less abandoned the genre until recently.

新妻LOVELY×CATION

Tasuku is GOD

>Will be the last xcation game

Well at least they brought back the original artist.

Because genuine hype leads to disappointment and sorrow.

When money entered the western dev scene, it perverted it. Games became "designed by committee" instead of having one person with a vision to try and create. A lot of the development choices became "X did that, so lets add that in" and the games became more and more similar until you got what you have today.

nier is getting overhyped because of toobie but its still gonna be a good game.

That's true, but money didn't ruin the Japanese dev scene. That's probably because they're willing to put money behind auteurs, which is something american companies could do if they wanted. Asscreed number newest probably made more than let it die though, so what are you gonna do except kill casuals

yeah but jap publishers are retarded with the way they hire. Not only that Jap devs with experience are rare as fuck, so they keep the same shitty developers working on the same game no matter how many failures they make.

I mean fuck look at square.
How does Taro still have a job.
Sure nier 1 might have sold well but how the fuck did drakengard get 3 games.
