How the fuck did Valve get away with this? This was the only community award category that was coordinated en masse so theres no way the other award categories could have been picked over it. Seriously Valve is just being jerks to their loyal fans at this point. All they have to say is whether HL3 is currently in development or its cancelled. How hard can it be? For crying out loud it's almost been a decade since episode 2 released and people are still anticipating a follow up to it.

valve makes a lot of money with cs:go and dota. like... a lot of fucking money.
>How the fuck did Valve get away with this?
Here's a hint: what are you going to do about it?
>Skyrim wins "test of time"
modern PC gaming is fucking embarrassing
Screw you Gabe! How about you try and say that to my face instead of snickering behind a computer screen.
Maybe nobody cares about HL3 anymore. I'd believe it.
I haven't bought a game on steam for 4 years and I don't plan to
I think everyone is losing interest. Its just such a shitty way to see a beloved franchise die out.
Theyve basically stated that a Half-Life sequel isn't coming out at this point because no one is working on it when there are things like VR, steam machines and eSport titles to put resources into.
Valve are also a private company and therefore they can do whatever the fuck they please without shareholders at their balls, and their "cabal" system of allowing people to take part in whatever projects are happening in the company means that if there isn't enough interest in Episode 3 then no one will work on it.
This is why I hate Dota2 faggots, they bled any integrity out of valve.
>esport garbage killed one of the most important franchises in video game history
Holy shit.
Would you rather have it die after HL3 comes out and turns out to be a big fat turd?
Valve is swimming in money and giving away absurd amounts to idiots with no lives. There is literally no excuse.
Half life, one of the most beloved video games in the world cemented Valve as who they are today, and they can't even muster a few million dollars to give it a proper sendoff.
Theyre just as cancerous as Blizzard nowadays.
Valve definitely isn't the same anymore. I'm sure a lot of the talented people that made up Valve originally have moved on because they saw how Valve has changed into a money-grabbing, soulless company. Hell we know that the writer and music composer for Half-life has left. That there should indicate the fate of Half-life.
Valve shot themselves in the foot by not biting the bullet and getting Episode 3 done.
Now they have to deal with all the baggage from the Half-Life 2 storyline instead of having something fresh and exciting for Half-Life 3.
>one of the most important franchises in video game history
GABENFAGS ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN THIS.
>coordinated en masse
I browse this trash daily and never saw any 'mass coordination' about this. Hell, not even anything on Twitter and similar stuff, and I follow a bunch of Valvedrones and related accounts. You're really overestimating the amount of people willing to meme with you on Sup Forums and leddit.
I actually would because at the very least it would conclude the game on the cliffhanger that we were left with on episode 2.
HL3 is NEVER coming out. Face it. The expectations have grown to absolute ridiculous levels at this point and it's all healthy PR for Valve. They will never be able to meet these expectations and should HL3 fail, as it inevitable would, they would lose out on the PR potential that the idea of a future HL3 brings.
Hey, it allows people to fap and go on an EPIK(tm) mountain climbing adventure.
its not that they don't want to spend the money on it. i'm sure there are project files that are rotting away on the valve network drives because everyone employed at valve wants a piece of the VR pie.
if you read their stupid employee handbook, its pretty much as follows:
>heeeyyyy welcome to valve!
>we got free food in the cafeteria but most of it is eaten by gabe before 9 so hurry up
>we also got a massage parlor and a psychologist because i guess software/hardware development is traumatizing??
>also you can work on whatever you want! we don't have managers to keep you shitheads in check and we believe employees work better when theyre doing what they love, so forget silly old half life or maintaining TF2, youre welcome to just squeeze yourself into the VR team and do whatever you want!
so yeah. nobody at valve actually wants to make games, and gabe just sort of let it turn into a hardware/Steam only shop because thats what the majority of his employees wanted. some employees feel a sense of responsibility or get hassled by robin walker or something and visit TF2 once in a while, but half-ass it obviously (see: matchmaking update). I'm betting IceFrog has his own clique of boys he brought on so thats how Dota 2 is mostly covered. And CSGO isn't actually valve anymore, just Hidden Path.
Regardless, I DO think Half Life 3 will come out eventually. I always thought Half Life was Valve's personal tech demo then flagship series. Half Life 2 came out along with Source Engine so I think when they release a fully featured Source 2, they will also figure out a way to make a working, playable full FPS game out of VR. What better way to push the Vive and Source 2's VR features, other then making one of the most overhyped games in history compatible with it? Made ya think

This is a good article on gabe saying between the lines "Dota 2 is making us so much money that Half-Life is a fart in the wind".
If VR gains real success then I can only hope 10 years from now we get "The VR Box" which includes a counter strike, L4D, Portal and HL sequel all VR exclusive.
Valve knows it doesn't deserve a sequel.
>Implying Valve would make HL3 in a world where there are communities like this shithole that want every game to be the next tortanic regardless of quality
I wouldn't make it either for you faggots desu.
I remember hearing that their employer peer review system (because no managers) went sideways because it caused employees to focus more on short-term cashgrabs (like that gem auction thing and virtually every microtransaction system in CS:GO) because it'd get them rated higher in the peer reviews. Also that it caused some employees to form cliques where they'd just rate each other.
I hope you're right man. I really want to believe that Valve has a trick up their sleeve. It's just if they have been working on the game then how can you spend a decade and nothing to show for it? I get they may have scrapped builds for the game and gone through numerous revisions but again, how can you waste 10 years and not find something that works as being a worthy successor to the franchise.
Wow, it's almost like any sort of organization without a clear hierarchy is doomed to either failure or complete stagnation.
I want to say your right but i played 40 hours over the last week.
>2007
What is this game? Why is it called "Episode 2"?
sane post user. god bless you.
>whether HL3 is currently in development or its cancelled
You dont seriously believe that HL3 is in developpement do you ?
Valve is just a cash-grabbing machine at this point.
It's better if 3 never comes out, it will be disappointing no matter what.
One of the main designer also left to work on dishonored (ever wondered why the towns looks so much like city 17 in dishonored ?)
this is the correct answer
Well that explains that half-life vibe I got from Dishonored. I guess at the very least, the talent that made half-life great will move on and continue to do creative things.
I'm betting the half-life movie will be the follow up people have been waiting for.
i just want valve to make games again, doesn't have to be HL
Valve destroyed the platform they used to make buy2play games for.
I was sure that HL3 was going to be VR launch title and that will break every record on the planet.
They made a mistake not doing this.
Now Im not sure that they will ever make it.
>destroyed
steam makes more money and has more users now than it ever has, stop being a retard
>Valve are also a private company and therefore they can do whatever the fuck
This is what a cuckold looks like
I agree it is horeshit considering AoE2 was on there so it should had won by default.
But go to the awardpage and look at the Steam user review for each game, then come back here and act surprised of the result.
>obverse something factual
>hurr u cuk lmoa
fuck off retard
>none of my picks nominated or awarded
ghey
Yeah but that fat fuck Jim told me that 40% of the games that are on steam were released this year and you can bet most of those games were early access or shitty unity asset flip games. Valves quality control on the steam marketplace has gone down the shitter.
Skyrim is over 5 years old and no game has come even close to topping it.
Face it, Skyrim deserved to win.
They don't want HL3 because if it's bad, it will be hard for them to save face for their "little" digital business.
Like the EU huh. valve have become the jews.
they ignored it because if the award went through everyone would be like holy shit hl3 confirmed
I sincerely believe they've had HL3 in constant development since HL2 shipped, first as the part of 'HL2: Aftermath' which became called 'Episode 3', then as "Half-Life 3" proper after some time. I think they've come very close to announcing it many times up to ~2012/13, at which time they actually did, finally, put it in an indefinite hiatus due to a variety of other projects they had going which they saw as sure to positively impact its quality (ie. VR).
It re-entered active development just a few years later in 2015, intended ship in that year. Then in 2016. Now we're in 2017 and presumably it is intended to ship this year.
>he's so autistic that he can't read between the lines and realize that half life is dead
Unfortunately it's probably cheaper to give professional ASSFAGGOT players a couple million dollar prizes than it is to fund a new game.
But why even bother with Source 2? That's the question.
Didnt think much of the nominations, the actual victors were horseshit though
Every valve game won, motherfucking skyrim won, can people even read the fucking award name? It's not even a fucking old game.
What the fuck.
That's what
>destroying the platform
means, you idiot.
Steam makes money, but nobody else can. PC can't support buy2play games anymore. Console ports have to get paid by nVidia or they don't come. Console gamers have to financially support PC multiplats, or they never start to exist.
Because "this was the only one that was coordinated en masse" was also what all the other ones being coordinated thought.
Fuck, I'm not sure I even saw this one being tub-thumped on here, despite all the others I noticed. Maybe you were just literally the only shitter doing it.
This. Absolutely disgusting a 6 year old game gets a "Test of Time" award.
That shit should be reserved for games, at MINIMUM, 10 years old.
Not a full HL3 or Ep3 but HLVR will be announced at GDC this year. Protag is not Gordon.
Cap this post.
valve didn't take a single category
hello retard
Why do people still care about HL3? It's never happening, Valve is not a game developer anymore.
Portal 2, CSGO and L4D2 each won a category.
>LFD2
Don't start playing the retard card when you're carrying one yourself.
>game that deserves a sequel
>nominating anything but Ricochet
I just want to know WHY it never happened. The dev commentaries in Episode 1 and 2 always refer to it being a three part series, with Episode 3 seemingly just around the corner. I really think there was some colossal, embarrassing fuck-up at Valve, and they've kept it a secret for the past decade, hoping people would just forget about Half Life.
I bet you feel real stupid right about now.
pity he went on to make a shitty excuse for a stealth game like dishonored
I guess you haven't played HL2 then. The ending was a cliffhanger so there you go.
Look, keeping the fan-base in some sort of limbo about HL3 is their master plan.
People will jump at any hint of HL3 and that's exactly what Valve wants. Because if they come out and tell "We are not making HL3", people would immediately criticise their shady business practices much more heavily then before, and it would surely hurt them in a very bad way, forever. When people still keep a glimmer of hope, they won't criticise Valve because they are being manipulated into thinking what Valve wants them to think.
Break free, people. Valve has to burn.
>Popular game gets a lot of votes
W H O
K N E W
If you put the vote on consoles the result would be the same
We must break free from the conditioning folks! The evil globalist Valve corporation has a stranglehold on this nation!
