Hi guys, I've got a PSVR and a PS4 but there's quite a bunch of VR stuff I wanna try out that's only on PC and I there are now drivers that let PSVR be compatible with PC. I kinda have a budget of $1000 AUD, will that be enough to get me a PC capable of running VR games? I don't need it to be running at the highest graphical settings, just enough for it to be capable of running smoothly. $1000 AUD is only around $700 USD.
Cheap VR capable PC
an i5, gtx 970 and 8gb ram.

Why?
I enjoy vr on the console and there's a lot more shit on the pc and I could use the pc for other games as well so why not
'Why not?' is not an excuse unless Mommy and Daddy are paying for it, kiddo ;)
all I currently have is a shitty laptop that's only capable of handling spreadsheets and some internet. always wanted to get into PC gaming, and I thought, why not have it vr capable while we're at it?
not worth it atm unless you also buy vive
Can't afford to spend money on a vive if I'm gonna be on vacation this year. Isn't an oculus half the price?
same price if you count the controllers and an extra sensor
>Judging other people for what they spend their money on
Fuck off bitch.
Do I really need that sensor, though?
Most decent PC VR games require you to be at least standing and moving/turning around to a certain extent, not sitting down in front of one (notoriously shitty jittery light-based) tracking point which is what PSVR is designed for. I'm sure you technically can get PSVR to work as a proof of concept, but even the Vive is fairly finicky on its own. Even with a careful setup, you'll get random drifting controls and nauseous viewpoint spazzing-out occasionally. Janky PSVR tracking hacked on top of that sounds like a disaster. I can't even imagine how those wands could work, the difference in the physical controls and the in-game representation would be frustratingly confusing. Maybe I could be wrong, but that's my gut feeling.
t. Vive owner
AFAIK the Oculus touch control package comes with the second sensor, you can buy a third one for better tracking but apparently the two will work if carefully set up. Otherwise you'll just have the Oculus headset and a gamepad.
People report you need 3rd one for somewhat decent roomscale tracking.
I tried a Vive for 5 minutes. It was REALLY cool and good but I actually went to the toilet and vomit due to nausea. getting nauseated to the point of vomiting within 5 minutes is the worst motion sickness I've had in my life. I don't think VR will work for everyone.
Only the people with the most strong stomachs might be able to actually game for more than half an hour on those things
Yeah, I've had 15 minutes hands on with the vive so I don't know how long I'd last with that, but I can last around 45 with the PSVR.
What a lightweight. Protip, it's not in having a strong stomach but good hand-eye coordination and the ability to concentrate.
Thanks for not judging, goy.
only right wing sjws hate based Soros
>based Soros
How's the pay? I'd love to quit my job and do this all day.
not that guy but I'm actually a jew and Soros is a big personal inspiration.
Don't believe everything you hear about Jews. I don't blame you though. If I didn't have personal experience with Jews all my life myself I would've also believed Sup Forums.

PSVR isn't that great on PC
