From what I remember the story is shit, the visuals are nice, and the gameplay was decent.
I only got as far to the place were there's 3 goats, and you feed paper to one of them, I stopped playing on the same spot twice, I couldn't bring myself to give the game a 3rd chance.

I've never played it. My friend said it was shit, though.

Up to that point I had never not finished a game I bought. I bought this fucking piece of shit and Blue Dragon at the same time.

Couldn't play Blue Dragon more than 3 hours, was bored out of my fucking mind. Which was fucking disappointing as I loved Chrono Trigger which gave me high hopes for the Toriyama + Sakaguchi combo.

It's not a dank meme and you FFX babies bother the fuck out of me trying to defend it. You can justify it however you want by saying they were forcing the voice actors to match the japanese lip sync: in the end it is still very very bad. Doesn't matter the reason, it is trash.

It was alright. Story is kind of dumb and there's a literal 10 minutes death scene but gameplay is fun and Polka is cute.

Also, music is nice.

Except so far the only arguments you've tried to put up are examples of very few instances and claiming it's all unnatural and shit without providing any real examples to this. I just took out random scenes of FFX and all of the VA sounds fine. The only real jarring bit are the somewhat long pauses during dialogue but that's not VA problem.

I remember enjoying it until I got to the last save point in the game, then I went into the TRI-ACE SEKRIT BONUS DUNGEON and when I had to get like 9billion shekels to get a piece of some bitch's heart and I stopped

so then like 2 years later I return to it and, after the most painfully easy final boss fight in the history of painfully easy final boss fights, I get this absurd series of cutscenes that make no fucking sense and then the game is telling me that I can make a difference in the world

Honestly, the entire series is shitty. Even the first few Star Ocean games.

Pretty much this. The game was playable for the interesting combat system alone, but the dub was atrocious and the story made little sense

It's a great JRPG compared to most of them, thanks to its combat system. It's also extremely polished compared to a lot of shitty JRPGs out there that feature generic modeling and gameplay, and the art direction is very good.

My issues with it were the Chopin bits being somewhat disconnected and jarring, and the limited enemy variety. Of course, each enemy is basically two in one, so that's probably why. The whole Chopin thing isn't worked in very well, but the fantasy story works fine since it generally focuses on the fantasy world issues.

That's pretty early on since the combat hasn't opened up by then. It gets a lot more interesting with the sped up battle system, harmony chains (that are admittedly overpowered) and the enemies start hurting a lot, too. Plus you get more characters (i.e., not Beat).

The voices are generally good (in Japanese, dub is always shit). Allegretto is probably my favorite because Void Edge.

This game seriously suffered from the "I can't fix my model's arms clipping through their clothes so I'm just going to make them stand like scarecrows" syndrome.

99% of rpgs have shitty stories. A good story by videogame standards is still a bad story. If an rpg has bad gameplay, it's a bad game.

How good is the Atelier series? Keep in mind I can tolerate a lot of weeb if the gameplay's good, currently playing Tokyo Mirage mostly for the combat/progression mechanics and it's pretty good.

It isn't poorly written. You just have to read all the material such as the manga and novels.
