Nomura's original vision was to have Final Fantasy XV be a trilogy. And honestly, I would have prefered if FF XV was a trilogy. I would rather have 3 solid games with a definitive beginning, middle and end that flushes out the story and characters than a beyond rushed game that failed horribly to condense 3 games into a single game.
So much crucial information was never said in game but in the fucking guidebook (Like Verstael being Prompto's father and Irfit is the one who is responsible for the Starscourge which caused the World of Ruin ) . This is shit that should have been in the game. And don't even get me started on the underdeveloped characters and characters who literally contribute nothing at all to the story and could be eaisly wriiten out and nothing would change (Fucking Ravus) This story was disjointed, underwhelming and made me realize that this game didn't need to be released in 2016 but rather 2017. It still needs so much fucking work done to it
And for those who don't even know who is Verstael is (he literally just appears in one scene) This is Prompto's father
Isaiah Davis
I'm really interested to compare XV how it currently stands to around the end of 2017 when presumably the patches have come out.
Robert Sanders
>want to know why Gladio left your party and returned with new scars? >want to know how exactly Ignis became blind? >want to know what with Prompto after he fell of the train and more about his bombshell plot twist? >BUY THE DLC FUCKERS I hate Square so fucking much . I hate what this piece of shit company has become
Brandon Peterson
I regret buying this unfinished game. I should have fucking waited until all the patches came out so I could have the complete game
Kevin Williams
It's glaringly obvious Verstael had a bigger role in the game, it was just cut out for Prompto's DLC.
Condensing the story into one game meant they had to remove Kingsglaive and the fall of Niflheim. Leading to ''Final Fantasy XV: Everything happens offscreen''.
Lincoln Cooper
But hey, at least you got to explore a huge open world. Isn't that what you wanted?
Jonathan Turner
>Leading to ''Final Fantasy XV: Everything happens offscreen''. This is so accurate it hurts.
Dominic Rodriguez
Yeah. But at least the wait is actually over for the most part.
What I do want them to do, which will probably never happen, is implement more of the prologue drama/novel into the game to bring Kingsglaive more into the narrative. It seems like waste just to these character who were important to the movie, never show up in the game, aside from Nyx's corpse. And there's other stuff I want in the narrative.
Nicholas Jackson
you would probally be waiting at december 2017 with how they are planning this dlc roadmap
Evan Foster
>BUY THE DLC FOR PARTS OF A GAME THAT SHOULD BE IN THE DISC
this is why i hate dlc its evolved to the point where devs can scam players out their money to cut shit in that should be in the disc already
the fact people gave pic related shit for doing that which caused him to run and hide and think twice about doing it again im surprised no one is doing the same to tabata
Bentley Hill
>Cor got reduced to fucking nothing I'm still mad
James Perry
Just got to the point where Ignis loses his eye sight and it made me sad as fuck. I haven't been saddened like this by game since quite a while.
Asher Wilson
I think it's because people want the game to have more longevity than it currently does and they legit want to know what's going on with those characters. Made 0 fucking sense. He doesn't do shit in Kingsglaive and he didn't do shit in the actual game. Wait until you use him in battle and he's tripping over shit. You'll feel even worse.
Xavier Martinez
Fuck man. He keeps tripping and Prompto picking him up. It's fucking breaking my heart. Also when Noct tells him to get going or keep moving and he says "Am I in your way?" I was literally going to cry.
Alexander Long
I'm six hours in right now and I'm enjoying the game, but it could've been a shit ton better with just a few QoL improvements. Right now the lock-on is a worthless piece of shit in fights with multiple enemies, the car destinations becoming markers that you have to remove manually every single time and not being able to take on multiple hunting quests make the game feel tedious as shit. How did shit like that even pass the quality check is beyond me.
Carson Miller
Yeah, but by the same token Xenosaga should have been it's original 6 part instead of getting canned partway through development of part 2 and rushed with a fucked up part 3. But commercial reality is that it's unfortunately very, very, VERY rare that anyone these days can even plan on a trilogy let alone anything longer. Publishers just don't want to commit to that, it's too ambitious and too long a timescale with too uncertain returns. It's hard to get them to even try something slightly new or different at all.
So I think the sad truth is that unless there is some private richfag patron or something willing to make it happen no matter what devs just cannot indulge in an "original vision" that's too ambitious. They have to come up with something that works within the realm of what they can actually get funded. Like engineering, development is the Art Of The Possible. If the vision gets overly ambitious vs what can realistically get produced and the game suffers as a result, that's the fault of the vision not anyone else.
Lincoln Morgan
>"Am I in your way?" Someone post the webm.
Jonathan Parker
This is the only thing in the entire game that got a reaction out of me. Ignis's eyes are the most important things to him because he is the cook and the driver. Now he has nothing. It was heartbreaking
Aaron Phillips
wonder if XS1 would have done better if it had the visual design of XS3. original one was too key it was off putting even for people who generally like anime same as key stuff. xs3 had best style even if story and such was mediocre.
Bentley Moore
Which one? Yeah and he didn't even need glasses he just wore them to see everything super clear and no he can't see anything.. He hated darkness and now he's surrounded by it..
Parker Myers
Nomura also wanted it to be a musical.
So yeah.
Gabriel Gray
Well he can see light changes, so it's not complete darkness.
>which one The one where Prompto shoots him in the hip.
Wyatt Gomez
Yeah but still. Also Glado's new scars bothered me as well.
Samuel Sanders
can you be gayin FFXV? I only play Rpgs where I can be or at least do gay stuff. I've seen that the final cutscene is a straight wedding... Which is awfully off-putting,can we avoid it?
>Also Glado's new scars bothered me as well. Why? That fact that I replied to this says something about me.
Sebastian Walker
Can I get an actual answer now?
Christian Davis
he looks like one of those edgy emo myspacers from 2005 who listen to naruto sasuke linkin park amvs and rawr on his aim away message
Christopher Williams
Stretch the second act\linear act into two separate acts or drastically reduce the first act to stretch the second one further.
As it is, the pacing is completely bonkers going from funny carefree roadtrip to permanently crippled party member sadfest.
Ideally the free roaming act would be its own game and the game, starting in Altissia, would be XV-2 and you`d have a full-sized Altissia and mid-train + post-train areas that are actual areas and not set pieces for dialogue.
Levi Jenkins
I WANT VERSUS XIII GODDAMMIT
Adrian Ortiz
>camping after Iggy goes blind >reheated canned food and Cup noodles are the only options, and that`s if you kept a pack of noodles the entire game with you.
That was surprisingly heart wrenching.
Cooper Bailey
Because he left off for whatever reason and someone permanently scarred him.
Nolan Gonzalez
Wait, so you dislike the fact that he got more scars? Or you dislike the fact that there was a very obvious gap there? Because if it's the first one, you're gonna gonna hate how he got the scar over his eye.
Noah Reed
can someone fucking answer me so I don't have to make another useless thread: Can you be gain in FFXV and avoid the straight wedding shit?
Jackson Green
>The enemies! Where are they?! >Gladio just going "We... We dealt with it" Ignis did literally nothing to deserve this
Brandon Ward
>be gain SHIT. I mean >be gay
Ethan Cruz
Both but the first one more because he was alone and I couldn't help him. Also it hurts when my bros get hurt. Will I find out about the scar later on?
Fuck man. I don't need these feels
Andrew Martinez
>Can you be gain in FFXV and avoid the straight wedding shit? More like: >afterlife wedding shit
No
Jayden Jackson
You will, in DLC, according to this very board. Apparently everyone will get their own "expansions" to fill in the gaps where they leave.
Jackson Brooks
>Literally nobody gives a single fuck about Luna dying >Everybody is getting sad as fuck about Ignis going blind Tabata really dropped the ball with Luna didn't he?
Ryan Morris
But Ignis and Prompto have not left thus far or they're leaving later on? I'm on Chapter 10
Evan Sanchez
Can you do any gay things? Gay sex and all?
Brody Morales
One of the bros > any other character. No matter what No sex scenes at all. No gay shit either
Parker Lee
Gladio's DLC will explictly cover his absence. And Gilgamesh will make an appearance. Considering how Gladio has the new scar on his face and chest along with smaller ones on his arms, it must have been a hell of a fight. >according to this very board This is something stated by Square. Prompto will have an absence in Chapter 12/13. Ignis' will probably cover how he went blind in Altissa.
Gabriel Campbell
>going in to threads about a game you haven't finished yet hopefully you won't cry WAAAAAHHH MUH SPOILZ
Alexander Gonzalez
Ignis leaves with the rest of the party when he goes blind but he doesn`t leave after that.
Prompto leaves and stays gone for a considerable time but he may not be doing much in his gone time so I don`t know.
Ryan Morgan
Why the fuck would you think that you be able to do this? That's why nobody answered this dumbass question the first time.
Matthew Wood
I see. Thank you. I'm already hurt by Ignis' condition.
Connor Roberts
>Both but the first one more because he was alone and I couldn't help him. Gladio's very tough, he can handle himself. He was willing to take a hit for Noctis and if you give him a shield and unlock some of his Ascension nodes, he'll run in and block hits for you.
Easton Gray
Wait, if Ignis is blind, how the fuck did he cook the final meal and know exactly where to guide Noctis during Irfit's attack? Was this an oversight by the developers?
Joshua White
> He thinks I know shit about final fantasy What you think i am? A weeb?
Liam Ortiz
Yeah I know but it still hurt when you see them in pain or something
Anthony Harris
Should I stop playing when I reached chapter 13 to wait for the patch?
Owen Perez
They say in Chapter 14 that he climates himself to his blindness, and it's implied that he can see changes in light. A lot of people who are considered blind don't see 100% darkness. Damn, you're gonna feel something during Prompto's section. Or if you unlocked his hotel conversation. Just finish it now, that's not gonna be out for a while. And you'll be able to say that you finished it in it's original shitty incarnation.
Luke Flores
I unlocked the special scene with Prompto and Noctis and it was indeed sad. I wish that Noctis was more compassionate with Prompto about it. I'll try to finish it asap then.
Jack White
If you chose the right responses he was.
Eli Brooks
NOOOCCCTTTT
Hudson Reyes
I chose the right ones ans Prompto was happy and glad that he talked to me about it etc etc but still would have rathered Noctis showing more emotions about it.
Also is there any way to increase photo storage limits?
Easton Morgan
No, 150 is the max.
Colton Reed
>leviathan battle >suddenly DBZ and discount bayonetta flying section >then Ignis becomes the Cooler Ignis What the fuck is this game?
Robert Lee
...
Brandon Robinson
>It's another "VesusXIII fags let their delusions run ahead of reality" thread
Andrew Flores
Go finishing stuffing your face Plumpto.
Daniel Butler
FUUUUUUU-SION HAAAA
Zachary Hill
Why does every character care so much about Jared?
Samuel Morris
World of Ruin could be an whole game by itself, revisiting the whole map and seeing the effects of the eternal night could be interesting. Maybe an Iris and Cor buddy cop game.
Josiah Smith
>it's another "XV fanboys who can't handle legit criticism and only want their game to be circlejerked" post
Gavin Lee
Gladio caring so much made sense seeing as he was the Amicitia family butler. Everyone else, not so much.
Grayson Sanchez
>3 character DLCs with obvious locations in the plot >one unnamed "Expansion Pack"
Do you think Square will pull another FFXIII-2 and drop a "to be continued" on that last DLC?
While taking care of Ardyn (who also took care of the Empire for you) is plenty for one game, what's there to say Bahamut is done fucking over Eos? If Shiva could still manifest in the real world after dying what's stopping Ifrit from manufacturing a new plague?
Jason Thompson
Pure fucking suffering after chapter 10
Isaac Russell
>Nomura's original vision was to have Final Fantasy XV be a trilogy. ***XIII
Landon Foster
The last xpac is the Comrades dlc, whic supposedly adds a bunch of playable characters and a multiplayer mode.
Cameron Barnes
Muscle memory, sensation (Ifrit was probably several hundred degrees without any flames and made the air respectively hotter), Ichi the Killer type shit
Benjamin Kelly
Who the fuck was Jared?
Jayden Reyes
Talcott's grandpa, aka Mr. dies offscreen and was never relevant BUT WE WILL (FAIL) TO AVENGE YOU
Charles Foster
FFXIII wasn't originally meant as a trilogy considering XIII-2 had to retcon the ending of the first one to make any sense.
Sebastian Perry
The old guy who got killed/Talcott's grandfather. He' was Gladio and Iris' butler.
Parker Allen
>Nomura's original vision was to have Final Fantasy XV be a trilogy. And honestly, I would have prefered if FF XV was a trilogy
You wanted XIII all over again which was meant to include much of what this game became?
Jace Fisher
Holy shit that guy was Jared? He was only on screen for like two scenes. Why in the fuck should we even give the slightest shit about him? The game did a terrible job of establishing his character
Christian Sullivan
I can understand why Gladio was sad over Jared's death. May be they were friends or something (offscreen). But his reaction after bossfight with Ravus was completely out of place.
Robert Cruz
Yeah, it did that for a lot of the characters.
Oliver Cox
Just stop already, Versus is dead and nothing will ever bring it back. We got what we got. Lets look in the future and just hope VIIR will be good and once again restore Final Fantasy power and prestige.
Nolan Jones
>once again restore Final Fantasy power and prestige. this will never happen
Nolan Fisher
Someone described this as the MGS5 of Final Fantasy. Is that accurate?
Julian Cruz
I dunno. Feels like the same people who are saying those things would have been good are the same that would complaining: they make good IDEAS, but the execution would need to be damn near perfect, and Square are rarely perfect.
Oliver Morales
Why did they make a trilogy out of the one game that didn't deserve any sequels at all?
Mason Miller
MGSV is half of the game. FFXV is finished game with tons of plotholes, missing scenes and wasted characters.
Bentley Young
someone needs to gamebreak so this guy dosent pick you up and try to explore to lestallum to see if iris and cidneys 10 year models are there or something
Hunter Butler
FF as more of a story even if most of it isnt told to you directly, MGSV is just a series of unrelated events happening.
William Butler
easily the best part of the game outside the final cutscene with everyone at camp. You could feel the emotion. It was great.
Jason Parker
Okay a couple more questions. Maybe I didn't pay attention enough during the story but who exactly is Monica and her relationship to the group? And who's that guy with the glasses that never says anything he is just sorta there? (He's the guy that's in Talcott's house by the lighthouse). He pops up with the group from time to time but I don't even know his name. Did I seriously not pay attention at all during the story and missed out on key characters or did the game not explain it properly?
Josiah Perez
Because XIV made them lose money and XIII didn't sell enough to compesate the amount they wasted on it. So making XIII-2 with a low budget and content that was mostly cut from the original was a smart move to make more money without having to invest too much.
Elijah Bennett
>Nomura and Kojima are best friends >Both got fucked over hard by their companies and their games went to total shit without them
You can't make this up.
Leo Johnson
Monica is part of the Crownsguard. Last time I checked Crownsguard are the people who are around the king/royal family and act as a sort of entourage/bodyguards? I don't remember being explained that well.
>He pops up with the group from time to time but I don't even know his name. Did I seriously not pay attention at all during the story and missed out on key characters or did the game not explain it properly? Dustin? No, you didn't miss anything. He literally does nothing besides escort Iris, if I remember right. He's probably Crownsguard too.
Mason Cox
You know how with MGSV basically everything shown in the trailers was what you got and nothing else, it's the opposite with FFXV where you will find maybe 10% of all trailer footage in the actual game
William Johnson
Oh his name is Dustin? Does he ever talk? I don't even think I heard him speak
Jeremiah Roberts
Don't worry, knowing squenix writing 101, he'll get his sight back back be it on sequel, drama cd or novel.
Robert Cruz
Not to my memory.
Angel Brown
This game needed fucking datalongs like in FF 13. So much shit goes on offscreen and you are left so fucking lost and confused.
