What's so bad about DOOM multiplayer? It literally looks, plays and feels the same as the single player. Why are they creating this narrative that the multiplayer is worse than cancer? To me, it's as "bad" as the single player, they're literally the same and use the same assets for the same effect.

Yeah I dont get why its bad either. It isnt artificially slowed down or anything so I dont understand whats so bad about it other than one hit weapons but thats kind of DOOMs and Quakes shtick.
I don't think its bad at all, really. Its nothing amazing, but I've been having fun with it.
I played the other day, too slow for me, I'm thinking I'm going to try a custom next time someone's online with base speed up to 150% and more in-air control
Basically, it isn't Quake but it's close enough to make me want to play it like Quake

I think the MP was trash because the DLCs split the community, the loadouts were just yawnworthy, and it was really unbalanced with RNG demons or some shit.
doom deathmath was never the strong point of the series, coop is where it's at. but nope they haven't even bothered to add that.
the only replayable thing in nudoom is level editor and it sucks big balls. and instead of trying to fix it they just churn out more call of duty tier multiplayer dlc
sidestep/backpedal is slower than moving forward while in sp they have the same speed

sp does resemble the classic once in a blue moon, multi doesnt at all.
Not at all, I don't know what it is with DooM 2016 but it feels slow, it's not just the base movement, it's the general pacing of the multiplayer, maybe it's all the non-arena elements but something makes it slow.
Even Halo 5 feels like it has a much better pacing
Could all those things be adjusted for in the options for a custom?

finding health is a dumb mechanic. I don't care if it's in old games. You should be able to get at least a killing spree, but no after one fight you spend 20 seconds to get health, you get into another fight you're already gimped and "outplayed" because you had no health.

but there is no duel mode in nu doom multi so you find resources or you get killed by a fresh spawn waiting with a shotgun around the next corner. there are no weapons to find either so you dont have to stop them from taking it.

DOOM campaign was absolutely fan-fucking-tastic and almost everything I wanted but feared to hope for because I was sure it'd be shit.
DOOM MP made me wish I was just playing Quake instead.
So I did.
Doom4 mp feels like it was just a bullet point or tech demo or something. Pacing is all weird, level design doesn't really work etc. I dunno it's strange it's not exactly BAD per se right? But it's just, bland I guess. "OK, so we can shoot each other here? Right. Ok, guess that works." Feels like "we need competitive MP on the box checklist" from the higher ups but devs were smart and just put every bit of actual love and polish in the SP.
They should have just not even bothered and instead invested in making a coop mode instead to leverage the sp campaign even harder. THAT would have been fun. And probably less dev effort too.

Either put more health in the levels or have enemies drop health/ammo on death without these stupid kill animations.
Enemies drop health when your health is low, so actually the best strategy is to kill a group of enemies from far away at low health so they all drop a bunch, then go collect it all
It's totally gaming the system though and more of an obtuse abusing of the system than actually clever and useful design, which the game IS lacking
