Heavy metal did it better

nine lives of fritz the cat game when?

Man Wizards was such a unique but weird movie

dwarves are small

guns don't care if you're big or small

Tell that to Japs.

Arcanum is the only game where this was done well.

To further reinforce the Elves V. Dwarves thing. Dwarves wield firearms, preferably the loud and inaccurate ones that dole out lots of collateral damage. While Elves use quiet, accurate longbows.

Guns help inferior races feel better about themselves.

Because bows are for feggets.

lmao look at these elf loving faggots

they are miners, they have easy access to ingredients for gunpowder and metal to make guns

>Dwarves
>Innacurate
Found the elf.

This. It seems to be an extension of their industrial abilities in mining and smithing.

"I'm glad you changed your last name, you son of a bitch"

>check out my amazing taste in animation gize!

no-one cares that you know what Wizards or Heavy Metal are

I'M GLAD YOU CHANGED YOUR NAME YOU SON OF A BITCH

>check out this insecurity.

That's not a dwarf

The only thing Heavy Metal had going for it was the Moebius artstyle and Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Group and Cheap Trick doing the soundtrack, the rest of the film is just one big incoherent mess.

That and they removed the best scene

Blackwolf did nothing wrong

fight me faggots

Blackwolf is genuinely cool villian.

>IT'S DONE.
>We will live in the good lands, my son will grow where there isn't death in the very waters we drink, or the air we breathe.
>The key to creating hysteria. Fear. Godsssss!

>Rock and Rule >>>> Heavy metal

Has there ever been a better climax in kino?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt1FrOSYJ4g

That movie was really fucking weird. Apparently it's because it went through development hell as the director was almost never there.

>Rock & Rule
my fucking nigger

>tfw I haven't worked on restoring the Original Version of this since last year

Ralph Bakshi made some legit Cartoon kino

>Antagonist Mokk actually succeeds in bringing forth the demon
>It fails and people know it destroys shit and what he's doing
>They let him fucking do it again

Fun fact:

It's different in the Original Canadian release, He never did brings the demon up because of a power failure which blows up Carnegie Hall, for some reason they changed it for the US version going as far as editing in footage from the end of the movie and a live-action explosion.

But that was the version I watched. But I guess if it failed then nobody actually saw it. I don't know, the movie was a pretty typical 80's trip.

The OG version was only released as a VHSrip, the US cut was the one released theatrically with the new voice for Omar, several alternate scenes and cut-down sections

Also, despite being on a VHS tape, the Canadian version sounds better than the USrelease which is on Blu-ray

Well I don't know shit then. This movie has a weird history behind it, it's intriguing.

I've read many behind-the-scenes stories on it, so much that the Wikipedia article is pathetic in comparison, the fact that they have ''This is the plot of the Canadian Version'' in the Plot section and insist on editing out any references of Zip being alive in the end (something that happens in the Original Version) makes me think that the mods for that article are idiots.

tl;dr: They started doing this movie in 1979 intending it as a kids film, but the subject matter got more and more complex, character designs less cartoony, animation more realistic and complex, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry and Cheap Trick did the soundtrack, UA went down-under which meant they had to release it through Orion Pictures, an MGM brand who ordered the film to be re-cut and re-dubbed with a more known actor, something went awry in the mixing department and messed up the film's score.

Film premiered in 30 theathers in Chicago, the crew went around town promoting the film in schools, renting a bus with a Rock & Rule banner, because MGM did dick-fuck to promote the film, even though the Comic adaptation Marvel did sold quite well, and the musicians that worked on the film talked about it quite extensively.

The film would then be sold in bootlegs and studio-made copies in the mid 80's until a Fire destroyed all prints they had in stock, the blu-ray restoration had to use a copy of the US release, even though the focus faded quite a bit towards the end, even though a full Workprint with much better quality exists.

Because his mom taught him a trick?

And to illustrate the difference between the Workprint and Blu-Ray restoration

Above is the Blu-ray, below is the Workprint

imgur.com/a/icabc

Fuck, why do blu-ray people do this?

They have short stubby arms that prevent them from using bows effectively.

Avatar isn't a dwarf he's an elf.

And he's not supposed to use guns

thanks for spoiling the twist to everyone, faggot

blu ray looks better

Coal mine fires/explosions are serious business. You would want to know everything there is about airborne fine powders and combustibles in enclosed spaces.
A cannon is basically that, in a more controlled and smaller package.

> accidentally create firearms when trying to stop people dying in mines
there will never be a game with a backstory that uses this

What a horribly tortured existence.

Blackwolf was the good guy.

>put in charge of a bunch of lazy mutants who don't know how to fight
>reveals them the SECRET OF WAR
>turns them into the master race
>conquers everyone else
>gets shot by his cheating brother

RIP in peace, Blackwolf

The Workprint was released as a bonus on the official Blu-Ray release of the film, and they used it to illustrate how different the film ''evolved'' up until the Final Cut, so much that they only included the Intro and the last 12 Minutes.

What they don't know is that despite being in mono and having a handful of scenes incomplete, they literally have a primary source to make a full restoration of the Canadian Cut.

Look at the lines on the characters, the Workprint is clearly sharper and has a better grasp on the colors, while the Blu-Ray is grainy, blurry and the colors are muted all through out.

Don't forget the sound, I could do an entire video comparing the sound quality between both cuts.

I actually have to go now, would it be too much to ask to keep this thread alive until I'm back? I could storytime the Marvel Comic adaptation when I'm back

metalworks (shells) and mining (gunpowder)

It could be worse.

Didn't upload the image for some reason.

The elves deserved to lose.

The only thing they had going for them was that big-titted bimbo.

All the rest were smug-looking faggots.
Also it was really annoying to see them turn Necron 99 into a complete pussy.

Forgot to mention

The blu-ray was made from several different prints of the US release, since all the original elements are lost, while the Workprint follows the original Canadian Cut more closely, for example, there's this scene in the climax where the girl character, Angel sings to the Demon and when Omar, the male character joins in the Demon cringes, in the original Canadian Version it's just a single shot, while in the US release they inserted a close-up of Omar in the middle of the scene, not to mention all different kinds of cuts and continuity that differ between versions.

>Heavy metal
>Better than anything.

This was deliberate.

I don't know what the fuck is going on at Disney that they cut the balls out of their old movies and make them pussy-pristine sterile-looking garbage.

I was actually amazed that they kept the film grain in their restoration of Fantasia.

It would fit with the TTG episodic style pretty well, huh?

...

you're wrong

They do it to homogenize them with their current pussy-pristine sterile-looking garbage.

I would legit kill for a decent video game that has faithful Ian Miller aesthetics.

Now I got to track it down.

Because he should have killed you when he had the chance you son of a bitch

I'm curious if the canadian version could be found on kisscartoon or something. I doubt this thread will be up if you'll be gone for more than a few hours. I'm gonna make a thread on Sup Forums to mirror this one later in the evening.

>that moment his glove finger went under the architecture
takes me back
>fires a shot
>theres blood
>hes clearly in a state of shock
>shoots again
this was brutal even for this time

Got a link to your project?

i did senpai, blu ray looks better

nah

wrong

Here ya go: youtube.com/watch?v=p4OJl6gujCw

>Everyone works their asses off except the people in charge.

Summation of the animation industry.

i saw that issue with the cel layering too

I always wanted to see this movie when I was younger and only ever got the chance to see it recently. I had no idea what it was or about but remembered the cover for years.

I was drinking when I watched it, and it did not live up to what I had imagined it was about. Still a good movie.

My dad and his friend saw this instead of Star Wars. How cool is that?

please tell me that image is bullshit.

eh
p cool

now is this the american cut or the canadian version we keep hearing about.

Your dad has cool taste.

Is a download of the Wizards movie difficult to find? I only ask because "Wizards" is such a vague search term that I can only imagine I'd find shitloads of unrelated queries.

I think the message was that the guy's singing was so terrible it repulsed the demon.

You are a hack, ginger rat

You can find it on tpb with no issue

Oh shit you're right.

Disregard that post I suck cocks

Because they want to hype up a "remastered" release but they don't want to actually bother remastering it, so they slap a shitty filter on and advertise it as a "remaster"

the link has been dead for weeks now. What is the working mirror now?

>not FBI, honest

It was on Netflix and YouTube, although I haven't checked in a long while.

nah

Tell that to Samuel Colt

Guns do care if you're big or small because of the kick they have.

That should be the canadian version. Easiest way to tell is the opening scroll which starts off by talking about Mok's plans and his satanic performance, compared to the American version which implies the movie takes place after the human apocalypse, and the characters are all mutated cats and dogs.

The american version is on youtube as well to compare.

Does a collection of still images, recolored stock footage from the 30's and about 50 cells of actual animation count as a movie? I've seen PowerPoint presentations with more unique frames.

That said it's pretty unique.

Tell that to the worlds greatest handgun, the Colt Single Action Army

Six shots, more than enough to kill anything that moves
