Thiaf is the worst. Thief 3 just isn't as good as the first two due to much smaller levels thanks to being made with consoles in mind.

thifourf is far away the worst and one of the worst games in general of all time.

just play the dark project/gold and metal age and when your done mod the shit out of them and play them again.

It was bad on release due to consolization, it's good now. Get the Sneaky Upgrade pack and it's legit great. Worthy to be alongside 1 and 2.

At release the levels were smaller and cut up with load zones. Lots of things removed. There are still no Rope Arrows or Swimming though.

The mid-level transition have been removed. It's a good game, not great, and not as good as the first two, but it's worth playing, even as your first Thief

It was very much a game of the early 2000s in the same mould as Deus Ex Invisible war. That is to say consolised and with much smaller load zones than players of the previous games were used to. It's still worth your time and is definitely a true Thief game. Also the worst Theif game is ThAif. It goes T2 > T1 > DS > T4 imo.

Thi4f dethroned Deadly Shadows as 'Worst Thief' by quite a large margin now.

Probably not the first guy to tell you this, but you should really give T1/T2 a shot.

Thief 3 was my first one too, you should really play the other ones they're great.

some people didn't prefer the transition from sort of mission based to exploratory mmo style city where you can hang out and shit.

I actually played the first one until the mines level and then stopped for some reason. I'm thinking of starting it again, but are there any mods I should use aside from tfix?

Sneaky update or some shit, look up in the trough the looking glass forums. There's also some good graphics/sound mods.

Keep in mind that some levels aren't quite meant to be played very sneakily, like the catacombs.

The mines are pretty good, leaning forward is overpowered as hell, use in moderation

well it was the worst but not anymore
the main complaint is that the levels aren't as expansive as the originals and split into several smaller areas per level, back in the day this was a big problem because it took so long to load deus ex 2 had the same problem (same engine UE2)
