Just beat The Journey for the first time last night.
Is The Answer worth playing through?
Just beat The Journey for the first time last night.
Is The Answer worth playing through?
no
just watch it on youtube
No.
The Answer is better than The Journey.
Dont let the P3 Portable idiots tell you its bad.
Its a grind, but its great.
Go for it, you have no trouble eating shit anyway.
The answe is terribles.
You guys always complain about Marie's s-link and her gay ass dungeon, but it's totally okay when Aigis does it.
>manchild is the only reasonable one
>muh waifu gets the fool and turns immortal
Out of character and gross..
no, move on
Does it shit on The Journey's ending?
>Does it shit on The Journey's ending?
Yes it does.
Just out of curiosity OP, how did you feel about the game as a whole? Favorite characters? Favorite parts of the story? Favorite music? Thoughts on the ending?
Asking because it's usually rare to find someone who's gone through it blind nowadays.
This. Also, it's totally worth it just for Metis alone.
It's worth at least trying so you get a feel for it. It's a lot more difficult than the base game. You have no access to the Compendium and you only get warp points after you beat a boss. Enemies generally have skills that offset their weaknesses (like an enemy weak to Garu skills may have Evade Wind or something).
I personally enjoyed it and ended up with stronger personae than I had during The Journey.
So I new absolutely nothing about the game or SMT in general, picked this and 4 up because I heard a lot of good things about 5. So I was completely blind going through.
Absolutely fucking loved the game, the aesthetic and tone of the game was amazing.
>Favorite characters
Mitsuru and Akihiko, although I really started to like Junpei and Aigis towards the end when they're arcs starting to pick up some steam.
>Favorite parts of the story
The part when Aigis confronted Ryoji on the bridge and you find out everything that happened before that led up to the events of the game and what was to come.
>Favorite music

>Thoughts on the ending
Perfect way to end it which is why I'm hesitant to play The Answer because it seems like it was just tacked on for the sake of it.
The Answer is a grindfest, make no mistake. But it's a good grindfest. You can feasibly grind all the way to where you can solo the final boss with just Aigis, and win. I did it at level 96, with only 3 Chewing Souls and 1 Soma left. Felt really good.
Did you cry?
>You can feasibly grind all the way to where you can solo the final boss with just Aigis
That sounds awful.
So Aigis is the character you play as for it?
Does she still only have one Persona?
No, she gets the special snowflake powers.
A lot.
Also general question, when Nyx was saying all those things before switching Arcana were those suppose to relate to the "realization" each person had in the respective social link for that Arcana?
Forgot to say in my post, but you really should emulate SMT Nocturne, and Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, in that order.
It's actually really cool, with the atmosphere in the fight.
Just play it, don't worry.
Probably. Either than or it's relevant to the Tarot itself. It sounds really cool either way, with that voice filter.
First of all, unless you REALLY need dat story, avoid Answer. It's pretty fucking lame storywise. Literally a filler plot.
Also GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU GET SPOILED FOR PERSONA 4 AND YOU FIND OUT THAT THE KILLER IS WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL READING FOR, GET OUT OF THE THREAD ASAP
I played The Journey months ago and just played The Answer a few days ago. It really isn't worth it unless you really, really liked the dungeon crawling. I like dungeon crawling too, but not in Persona 3 and 4's dungeons.
>Almost entirely dungeon crawling
>5 minutes of story at the end of a dungeon
>More dungeon crawling
>Enemies often evade attacks they're weak too because fuck you.
>No Persona compendium
>Most of the playtime will be grinding
No social links either, and most people who like Persona 3+ seem to like those. Most of the story is right at the end, and it's not particularly good either. I can see why everyone hated Yukari after The Answer, even if her actions were understandable.
I would say to just go watch the answer online since its will take a lot more time than its worth to play. And it helps explain any questions you may have had in The Journey
Yes I was going to play those games, along with Persona 4.
About how long is Persona 4? 3 took me 99 hours but you can subtract a few hours from me leaving the room and just leaving my PS2 running.
Also forgot to include this song: youtube.com
The Answer is a tedious grindfest that isn't worth it. Just watch it on Youtube.
>Memories of the city
>That atmosphere during the last month
>All your friends are determinated to fight even if the dead its certain
The last part of P3 does things to my heart
>Memories of the City
My. Fucking. Nigga.
About the same amount of time, give or take. People nowadays hate P4 though because over the years Atlus has milked the fuck out of it to hell and back. Just a fair warning, that's all.
The choice on whether to go through The Answer or not is up to you.
Also do what says and get the fuck out before you get spoiled that you really need to get out before you get spoiled for real.
The Answer is so good soundtrackwise so I say you play it just because of that. Sure you could google the songs but they sound 100x times better in context
Because of the revamped gameplay it's either far shorter or far longer depending on if you enjoy grinding or not.
get Golden at all costs. P4 vanilla is good, but Golden is vastly superior.
Third, See
Shh we won't tell him about Nanako[\spoiler] 's murderous tendencies
Same, whenever I hear Memories of You I tear up and I beat the game less than 24 hours ago.
Alright well sounds like its pretty rare to go unspoiled for these games now a days so I'm out of here.
I'll leave you with this: youtube.com
This Heartful cry is just too good

I also finished Persona 3 recently, a month ago in fact.
I loved the game's message but unfortunately the pace hindered my enjoyment a bit.
I know what they were going for because they wanted you to feel empathy and make you go through the same mental process as the MC but as a game this can become tiring.
Junpei has to be one of my favorite characters ever and I actually miss him, like he was a good friend. Thats how well that character was developed.
I got spoiled most of the story 2 months in, so unfortunately most of the times I was waiting for things to happen and it become a bit shitty, so I think if I had gone into the game blind I'd love the hell out of this game, more than I do now.
Anyways, Story is great, characters are great, gameplay is very basic and only in Monad was I enjoying it really and that only lasted like 2 hours.
The social links were great and now I understand Waifu fags thanks to Aigis.
I'll never forget this game, its something that sticks to you for life I think.
Needless to say I cried at the ending, but what hit really close to home was Akinari's mother speech.
That made me cry for like 10 mins straight due to personal reasons.
P3 is a great experience, if it was more streamlined it would be great.
Its also one of the few games that had me either on the verge of crying or smilling through most of the dialogue.
With that said, I'll never play the game again, because I feel that that is the message of the game, enjoy shit while you can.
Man I dunno. I have a love-hate opinion about The Answer.
On one hand, it has new good music, the sadder atmosphere of December, some character development/moments (I find Junpei pretty based here) and interesting boss fights if you bother to grind Metis.
On the other, it drags a lot since you can't do anything BUT go to the dungeon (and the good boss fight are in the very end), some characters will annoy you (Yukari will problably test your patience) and the conclusion might disapoint you, for better or for worse.
If you care and have time, go for it. I started appreciating Aigis a bit more because of it.
bump
Memories of the city and the dorm version of Living with determination made the last month amazing to me. It was made heavier because while I was playing it I was still coming out of a pretty severe depression where I suffered greatly from death anxiety (or "thanatophobia" fittingly enough).
>cant listen without this without feeling a huge void inside me
youtube.com
This and Dearly Beloved will always hurt me.
I liked it just because I hated the normal dorm music.
it's worth it just for this song youtube.com
I think the music itself and especially the base line are really good, but the lyrics ruin it.
The music is fine, yeah, but the singer and lyrics are really annoying.
Memories of you is the better song, but Brand new days gives me a feeling of Nostalgia and sadness that i can't explain
This. It sucks.
Post YFW
...
I was mostly confused because people had told me he turns into a door and it didn't happen.
I played #FE and loved the combat and heard it used the SMT combat system.
So far im playing Nocturne and I got Digital Devil Saga lined up. What should i play after those? Do the playstation 1 games hold up any?
Also i may have entered the series the wrong way and spoiled myself. I hear those are the exceptions for using a 3rd person view during combat and that the rest of the series is all just portraits instead of cool 3d models?
>mfw no face
I was feeling bad, speechless, no face really, I was just *being*.
Reminder he did nothing wrong.
I liked his jokes
No. I liked Metis and she kicked serious ass but the actual plot and ending are fucking so not worth it.
they're good, you'll be fine and adapt.
I'LL NEVER LEAVE YOUUU
>The Answer has been out for this long
>people still saying it sucks
It's fine, OP. Most of the people who don't like it, don't like it because of no Social Links.
At the end of the day, it's canon, so it's worth it if you care about the story.
How the fuck do I beat pic related user.
by believing in yourself.
Try finding good demons with nice buffing and debuffing skills.
Its really important to lower his accuracy/damage and to buff your evasion and buff yourself.
Its a battle of patience, thats how I remember it.
I remember this scene fucking me up when I saw it for the first time. Makes me wish the anime was similar to this style, I know it's weird, but it has its charm.
The Answer really had some good moments.
Based Shinji.
I was surprised when I beat him on my first try. Not sure why people say he's so hard, unless it's from the people who were new to Megami Tensei when they played SMT III. I had played Persona 1-4 and SMT I and II before I played SMT III, mostly back to back too.
I wish I could forget this game and re-experience it all over again.
Me too.
Ken is the worst member of the party.
And Shinji still took a bullet for him, pretty based of Shinji if you ask me.
