Are the Remakes fun?

I'm thinking about nabbing the remakes. Are they actually fun, or do people like them just for the nostalgia? Just looking for an unbiased perspective.

Theres only one remake. The rest are "Remasters" outside of Re 5 there's nothing new but 60fps.

reremaster 1 is so-so, it really depends if you're into that kind of gameplay. (burn zombies, open doors, find item to solve dumb puzzle) Basically I can see why people enjoy it but it felt like a waste of time in general.

I'm referring specifically to:
Resident Evil Remake
&
Resident Evil 0 Remake

Remake/remaster, whatever.

this guy nails it

it's fun in 45 minute doses

It is because of the ancient game mechanics?

The remaster of REmake and Zero move all smooth now when you run. I think you can have the classic clunky movement too if you want.

Zero was never remade, it's just the original Zero and the Remaster.

But yes, they are both really good. The base games are the best Resident Evils because of some of the best and tightest game desing out there, especially Remake. Zero has some really annoying problems about the inventory system but you WILL learn to live with it cause underneath the game is amazing and Rebecca is objectively best girl. The biggest reason for people hating on Zero is the fact that it came out at the worst time for RE and it has clouded people for years. I hated it too before because I had JUST played through all the old Resident Evils and kind of wished for the formula and playstyle to change finally. But if you just play it now after some time, it will feel god damn refreshing and it has some of the best moments of RE. It's also a bit more to the campy, self-aware, b-horror caricature style that made most RE games good. Remake is the only good RE that is NOT intentionally campy. You have to understand this genre to get these games. They are scary and funny by design.

The remasters are well made. Remake-Remaster is a bit flunky but Zero was Remade MASTERFULLY, there's zero problems with it. Both are a good way to experience them on pc.

That's everything there is to know and nothing else is to be said.

Don't bother playing them if you're gonna be a faggot about tank controls.
LITERALLY git gud.

What does that mean? Classic clunky movement?

You moved all stiff like a tank and had to push a button to run but now you can just tilt the stick and move around better.

Wouldn't analog stick movement get fucked by the fixed camera angles?

It's Devil May Cry-tier. The guy you're talking to is a complete casual.

it's a bit like playing a dvd menu

The mansion area in RE1 fucking sucks. Once you get out of the arbitrary key house the puzzles become more fun and you start getting more fun weapons.

It's good if you can get it for like $5-10.

It works well, if you keep the analog at one direction, it will not change when the camera changes. But it will fuck up if you tilt it at all after that. It takes getting used to.

DO NOT play with just the new movement type. The analog will move you in the modern, smooth 3D way and the arrows will use tank controls like normal. You use the tank controls for tactical zombie evasion and to get past the camera angles and you use the analog for normal movement and for quick zombie evasion. You will learn it pretty quickly and smoothly change between the analog and the arrows and it feels _awesome_ and needs a bit of skill.

...what?

Do you actually get to kill shit, or is it run from everything because you're helpless and then run errands to solve a puzzle?

Ugh! That sounds fucking annoying. Why couldn't they remake it with RE4/RE5 or even RE6 controls?

Resident Evil 0's remaster is just that, a remaster.

Resident Evil's remaster is a remaster of an actual remake.

You can play it with the original controls or then new controls. RE4 has tank controls, it's the EXACT same control scheme as all the Resident Evils before it except for third person shooting. RE5 style wouldn't fit REmake cause that's just how the game is designed and it works really well.

What I proposed is a way to play the game so that you need skill by jumping smoothly between control schemes and when you learn how to do it, it feels good and is not annoying at all.

In the mansion portion there's a bit of running to conserve ammo but once you get past the "lmao collect all these keys to unlock these random doors!" you get more weapons and ammo to do a bunch of killing.

Make no mistake though the shooting is pretty fucking awful.

You don't /thread your own post faggot. Grow up.

Inventory system is horrible

BSAA Jill is fucking hot. That along makes the game worth it. Not even kidding.

I was as well until I read that RE7 VR is exclusive to PSVR for 1 year - now f 'em, they don't get my money.

>The mansion area in RE1 fucking sucks.

It's the best part you tripple ngiger.

>it really depends if you're into that kind of gameplay
>kill enemies, explore, solve puzzles
>I can see why people enjoy it but it felt like a waste of time in general

You just described every video game ever

Welcome to the future, oldfart. Now we can do all the things you dreamt of in your past.

My friend really wants to play 7 as his first RE even though I keep telling him to fuck off and play REmake instead.
He keeps complaining about the tank controls. He's not even a normie, so I don't see why he can't just get used to them.
What do you guys think? He wants to go to the midnight launch with me and my brother, too.

sounds like a douche you should drop

I played the game last month. It was pretty nice actually. I was impressed of some stuff that you don't see in modern games. Definately way better than any modern horror game I've tried.

The only thing to get used to was how shooting works, otherwise it didn't feel outdated.

However, I started to lose interest after the mansion part. Dunno if I'm gonna continue it.

Play it with him. It's really fun together. And tank controls are objectively good. It's just about the design of the game. Like, if someone said ohh fuck I'm not gonna play this 2D-side-scroller because I can't play it with 3D-controls, you'd think that person was mentally challenged. It's just about getting used to it and accepting the type of game. No one who ever played REmake has said they didn't like it because of the tank controls. There will be other things that not everyone will like, but the controls are really solid. 2-3 hours and he will not complain about them anymore and will be fully immersed. Just play with him to help him over the curve.

I got it last year for plus and it was by far my favorite game that I played last year

but I would play it on pc if you have the option for costume mods
