It's actually over 50% for new publishers on steam. It's the reason why a lot of japanese indie companies into the system by porting old games and giving them for free on steam so valve doesn't buttfuck them with their sales cut on full priced titles.

Steamspy is atleast more reliable than vgchartz since it combs through users steam libraries. Vgchartz does not count digital sales so its very inaccurate for consoles and especially PC.

It's a difference a few hundred thousand in fourty million. The figures that matter are the amount of employees, the development time, the amount of sales on what platforms which are all there. 80% of a game development studios costs are in employee salaries
