Here's the stuff that should be being said or asked instead of whether or not something is art: What does it make you think about?

Fuck off already.

I like the game but kill yourself

>Do a thing where you have no choice
>You is baddie all along :o

WOW WHAT A THINKER 10/10

I don't think the game is spectacular but it does have some merit I suppose.

not him but made me re-evaluate why i try to help people without being asked

An edgy view to the foreign involvement in the ME

It was absolute shit. Shooters have always been my favourite genre. This isn't quite the bottom of the barrel but there's no reason for anyone to touch it, really.

There you go. People are too hung up on whether or not something is "art." Video games aren't alone in this, moviegoers, book readers, comic book readers, music lovers, all of it. Concerned with elevating whatever thing's status to art instead of asking themselves what it actually makes them think about. Video games are definitely the most vocal about it I mean jesus christ TLOU was pathetic. "Gaming's citizen Kane moment."

>god, white phosphorus sure is horrifying right team?
>10 min later
>oh god we need to wipe out this camp with this conveniently placed WP grenade launcher!
>but captain can't we just run in and shoot like we have been doing this whole game?
>nnnnnnnnooooooogghhhhh and I won't just destroy the tanks either, I won't let you leave the screen until everyone is dead!
>oh noo we accidentely destroyed a refugee shelter
>bad! BAD player!
also, pretty strange that a refugee shelter was the most guarded location in the game. I barely even saw a tank outside of this chapter

>bad! BAD player!

The only people who think the game is criticizing the player is...I'm not sure exactly. I'm not even sure where this came from.

>The US military does not condone the killing of unarmed combatants. But this isn't real, so why should you care?
seems pretty indisputable to me

...

What's indisputable about that? If anything, it's a statement of fact. If we're talking about loading screens, there's also:

>You are still a good person

good job cherry picking the only "friendly" qoute in that whole list
but considering the tone of all the other lines, that one's obviously sarcastic

>that one's obviously sarcastic

Obviously? It only appears at the end of the game, accompanying Walker with his hands outstretched. Did you even play the game? Why are we having such a stupid conversation? Am I to assume you think the game blames the player for the arbitrary choices it presents and that the game isn't just a big pretty rendition of Heart Of Darkness/Apocalypse Now aimed at asking questions like why do people enjoy violent video games and being the hero? Do you actually want to discuss this game?

>How many Americans have you killed today?
>If you were a better person, you wouldn't be here.
>This is all your fault.
>Do you feel like a hero yet?
>To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless
all in the loading screens, who address the player as proven here
these aren't just questions, it's literally berating the player
how can you deny what's right in front of you?

>To kill for entertainment is harmless
Ok you convinced me.

>To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless
>To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless
>To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless
>To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless
>To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless

Did that part fly over your head? Goddamn. You're ignoring the actual INTERESTING part of the discussion in favor of this tripe. I'll point it to you directly: Why do you play violent video games?

really pickles your cucumber

Question how much of a faggot you are?

>taking the quote literally again
yeah, why ARE we still having this discussion?

and I don't actively seek out violent games. I play games from manhunt to kirby's dreamland. If a mechanic requires you to kill people so be it. I don't get a kick from killing video game characters or whateve
actually, I never play these military shooters, so I guess whatever message this tryhard pretentious shitty game is trying to push doesn't apply to me

>so I guess whatever message this tryhard pretentious shitty game is trying to push doesn't apply to me

Stop thinking that it has a message, stop thinking that whatever the fuck of anything has a message and just ask yourself questions about it that can lead you to a conclusion.

>and I don't actively seek out violent games. I play games from manhunt to kirby's dreamland. If a mechanic requires you to kill people so be it. I don't get a kick from killing video game characters or whateve actually,

So why do other people play violent video games do you think? Is it wrong that we use media that allows us to be a hero as escapism?

Have y'all ever considered the loading screen text might have literally just been there to rub your neurons, boil your spaghetti, chinscratch your emoji, subtitle your anime, etc and don't really mean anything unless you think they do

>The weak should fear the strong. What do you fear?

What did spec ops the line mean by this

>Stop thinking that it has a message
>now about that message...

>So why do other people play violent video games do you think?
for fun, don't want to think or focus too much about a game's mechanics, so just shooting things is perfect
to let off some steam
because they have shit taste

>Is it wrong that we use media that allows us to be a hero as escapism?
no? everyone uses some form of escapism anyway so I don't see what the problem is

>now about that message...

You misunderstand. Stop thinking in terms of "this piece of media has a message and I have found it. It's right here. It's [dumb] (or [great])." Ask yourself questions about it. I don't blame you, or anyone else for thinking like that. Western english classes teach us to think like that i.e. WHAT DOES THE GREEN LIGHT MEAN IN THE GREAT GATSBY?!

Another example is No Country For Old Men. A film about a lot of things, but one of the things is about an old sheriff realizing the world has always been shit and it's not just him getting older. What does that mean to you, does it affect you? Does it affect your friends? I'm not actually asking you, I'm saying that this is how people should view media.

>for fun, don't want to think or focus too much about a game's mechanics, so just shooting things is perfect
>to let off some steam
>because they have shit taste

All valid reasons.

>no? everyone uses some form of escapism anyway so I don't see what the problem is

Agreed. Effectively this discussion is over. But western english teaches us that we HAVE to come up with an ultimate conclusion.

the ultimate conclusion is that I'm right

...

They did that on purpose. So you feel annoyed at having no choice, just like Walker.
And I can see it worked.

Thats a false equivalence if I've ever seen one.

>game is shit, and it irritates people
>SO CLEVER
Kill yourself.

It was guarded because they knew you and the fun were coming to kill everyone there. Or that's what they thought and you proved them right.

Either way, I thought that part was more a jab at games like cod that have you as an ac130 gunner removed from the reality of what something like that actually does. They literally use video games to recruit and train drone pilots these days.

>fun
FBI. Fuck mobile posting.

I'm not sure how it is. Man's mad he has no choice, as was intended.
Do you also get mad when a mystery tricks you into thinking something that's incorrect? Did the ending of Watchmen piss you off?

Having no choice in killing a lot of innocent people is completely different from being stuck with a shitty game.
In other words, it's shit and you are a retard.

You can stop playing if it really makes you that uncomfortable.

101 on arguing, at least come up with an argument. Why is it shit?

I'll even help you.
-gameplay is mediocre
-Squad mates are stupid.seems common with any game with team AI
-The guns make no sense there
-The squad doesn't make sense, as they'd never send a three man team
-The first conflict isn't that well made, and comes across as forced
-CIA part was a bit predictable. Though honestly not terribly written.

These are arguments. And given its biggest offense is mediocre shooter gameplay, it's not actually a terrible game since it for exactly the standard. Which could even be part of its reflection of shooters.

>killing sandniggers
>made me question myself

Made me kek tbqh

Don't fall for the shilling.

Makes those brain cells work extra hard

>nuke this area because we force you to
>you monster, how dare you!
The hilarious thing is that there are no people there if you check before launching the phosphorus. The game not only tries to blame you without giving you the slightest choice in the matter, but also forces your character to be an utter idiot.
