Come home Wurm man.

>What is Wurm Unlimited?

A one time buy to play version of Wurm without the monthly premium cost and other restrictions that were previously behind a paywall. There's also private servers.

>What is Wurm?

Wurm is a true sandbox game where players can do anything from mining, free-building milking cows, terraforming, to pvp.

Wurm also has a player driven economy as well as player driven politics between kingdoms and their respective kings.

Shit is your server still alive? I thought you died when your gf made you shut it down?

We're on a new server, living in a hobo cave but we're scouting for deed locations new we have sick cash.

...

Let me guess... Dungeons were not implemented yet right? Mobs still don't drop any worthwhile loot right?

Certain mobs have always dropped worthwhile loot. Hell, on this server if you found and killed a christmas elf there was a silver coin on the corpse.

>supporting turbojew
fantard

even minecraft better than this old buggy un optimized shit.
you are shill or huge shit eating faggot, op

>minecraft
>better

yep, fantard, even mineshit better than this antique turd

So what makes this game better than all those other sandbox, build your own place, kind of games?

I'm sorry that you subhumans think this way.

Actual sense of progression, you have to work for what you want, you can play while doing other shit on a second monitor. There's a load of other things, it's been a Sup Forums favourite for years.

It's a game that sticks with you for a long time when you play with others. I started playing the Online version around 2012 and bought Unlimited right as it came out.

...

is the xp gain higher on that server? default xp gain is cancer

It's default but it hardly matters, the server has the curve enabled.

WU... could use some cookingupdate soon, so some more WO for me untill it hits WU.

I'm fairly sure WU has everthing WO has currently

This isn't even Life is Feudal, nigguh.

>tfw bought wurm half a year ago but haven't touched it

It looks way too daunting.

>Life is Feudal
lmao
Join us, we've got a few new players. Once you have some friendly people to chat with, you learn the game very fast. Come join us, we're happy to help.

Sadly not atm, rifts are still missing (and runes with it) and the cooking update also, but that one should be out for WU "soon".

Some clever modding could compensate for the runes tho, but I havent seen a mod copying the rift system.

Well now Rolf isn't part of the game it seems updates are happening faster, so it should be very soon with any luck. I hope to see you on Unlimited with us soon.

Could someone explain the difference between WU and WO? I've never played either. I guess they have slightly different features, but what is the high-level difference? Steam says that WO is "standalone".

I mean Steam says WU is standalone.

You pay a monthly sub fee for Wurm Online, with Unlimited you buy it once and can play on private, tweakable servers. It seems Online gets the updates first, but Unlimited gets them not long after.

WU is more of an "offline" Wurm (no prem to pay, no limits), you can host your own servers, make money out of them by selling items/coin/prem or just make it free for all (which most WU-servers do, they usually just have a small donation-shop).

Some features from WO are missing in WU (like the rifts and cooking update I talked about earlier) but they will release it for WU eventually.

For WU you can also set what skillgain-rates/actiontimers you want on your server, you can generate your own maps as big/small as you want (some tools for map generation are on the WO forum).

(nvm the graphics in the picture I posted, have my settings extremely low so I can have multiple chars online whit this old computer)

What if I'm not interested in PVP? Are there other servers with reasonable population that are close to the experience of WO, without mechanics/content/EXP tweaks?

The servers without PVP are usually pretty shit. The server we're currently on has a curve for skill gain so you can be competitive a lot faster, while servers that don't have PVP don't so grinding takes a lot longer. Current sever seems very peaceful for the most part however, and you don't have to take part in raids if you don't want to.

I'd rather have the actual game's EXP gain mechanics. What makes the PVE servers shit - the grinding? I don't mind grinding. EverQuest is my favorite MMO.

You wont find many without exp/timer tweaks online, since that's usually the main thing people complain about when playing WO, that everything goes to slow.

Myself I play on Sklotopolis every now and then, a big relaxed server, with usually allot of people online depending on your timezone

The actual games EXP mechanics get tedius and boring honest, a lot of the game is based on timers. The curve does drop off so it's not some sort of massive crutch, and it still takes time to get to a decent level. There is a lot to train and level in Wurm. Playing since 2012 and I've still never gotten 90 skill in anything.

I guess Wurm isn't for me then, I don't want to pay a monthly sub for the main game and I don't want to play a server with EZ mode EXP gain.

Never forget the old models
Like I said, it's not close to "EX mode EXP"

Rest in peace old goblin model...

Well, lots of other WU severs out there, just rank em by playercount (those usually have the most players, tho some have bots logged on to give an artificial playercount), some are extremely EZ-mode, others are very close to WO in terms of the horrible grind. (the one I mentioned is somewhere in between, the start is made somewhat easier to get people going, but to be really good in something takes a bit longer, still nothing like the grind it takes for WO tho, but it still gives a certain feel of achievement)

Honestly I just want more Euro players on this server currently, the skill gain is average Epic levels so it's not horrible grind, just the right amount.

I cannot discourage people from playing this game enough.

If you have even a modicum of brain power, buy a book instead.

Please.

True, it eats your life away...

Tried the game out, and it suffers from the problem all these sandbox games suffer from. You have no objective and no motivation to do anything.

I played it, spend fucking forever hitting trees and rocks until I finally had everything to make a house. I spent ages making the house and then I found myself asking "so now what?".

And that is how I'd sum up the entire game. "So now what?"
It's basically a graphical chat room that is a serious chore to play. Has the most unintuitive UI to ever exist and the game it's self is so slow, cumbersome and grindy to play.

The worst part though is how little content it has. Games been around for over 10 years and not only does it have a tiny amount of content, most of the content it has is redundant.
I was mining and found an emerald and was like "yeah this will be used for something sweet". It has no use. From there I looked at things like silver and gold and jewelry in general. None of it has any use.
I remember finding wheat, rye and barley and thinking maybe they'll all have different uses. They don't. Three items (four actually) that are all the same. Same applies to all meats, all fish, all vegetables, herbs and so on. They all get cooked into a variety of food items that again are all basically the exact same thing with a different name.

The game is full of items that do nothing, and even more items that are all the same except with different names.

For a game that has been around for so long to have these kinds of issues (and more), I find unacceptable.

>pay 12 bucks to grind
Sorry, I already "play" runescape

I can see why you're disliking the game but I won't exactly agree with you fully. Issue with the game is, playing solo is ass. It's not fun at all. You've got to be part of a team on a PVP server to really enjoy what the game has to offer.

Emeralds are very handy actually, for a priest or trading. Priests are another reason to be part of a group that plays the game, as different kingdoms have different benefits. Once you're part of a group you can have your place and role, and train yourself in that skill. Once everyone has trained and gotten good gear, you can then PVP or explore the other options the game has.

Join 2017, everything has a use, al the things you mentioned even have multiple uses.

True tho, that Wurm is a "so now what" game, but if you have a longer attention span then a 5 year old, then the sky is the limit.
You just set your own goals, create a village, terraform a mountain flat, build huge bridges connecting islands, go around hunting unqiues, skill up accounts to sell for hard cash (recently one sold for 3500euros, thats right threethousandfivehundred), become a masterblacksmith and sell tools/weapons to other people for ingame coin (which you could sell for reallife money if you want), build massive armadas, plant huge orchards, dredge oceanfloors, learn all 500+ cooking recipes, collect rift materials to craft powerfull runes, ...

As long as you have imagination and set yourself goals, you will stop saying "so now what" and start saying "crap, another thing for my to-do-list".

No use explaining this to you tho, seen guys like you come and go the last 8 years way to much, just putting the info out here for others who think this might be something for them, wether you join OP's server, or play WO, or just mess around on your own (offline)server, is all the same for me.

Any proof for that sale? Surely that can't be right

The fuck is this ?

Very old account called "Dadd" with insane skills, went up for auction and got private bids up to 3000+, but eventually it sold to a group of players who are going to share the account on the WO pvp server (no public logs of that, but the pvp on wurm consists of people with some healthy wallets and time on their hands).

Wurm is crazy in that way, a good priest account can sell for 200-300euros easely (and has done so many times in the past), hell, even normal drake armour sets go for 60euros, and scale armour sets for 200.

Dev's and creator allow all trade for reallife money, Rolf says "you grinded for it, its yours to earn money from it", one of the very little mMO's out there who actually allows irl sales of ingame items (all at the sellers own risk offcourse, dev's/creator dont help when a deal goes wrong and you loose stuff, unless it gets really ugly and hits code-club itself, which has happend last year).

Is it possible to build a snowman ?

The release of multistory buildings, many years ago, had pretty interesting bugs you could play with to make some abstract houses

You can, with a bit of charcoal and a snowy grass tile. (only in winter season tho)

Really ? Fucking nice.

...

Screenshot from 2010, dont know if they got an update in model yet (most models got updates, but the ones you only see a few times a year still lack behind, like santa, snowman, easter bunny, ...), winter is just over in WO atm so no option for me to make a new one

The server we're currently playing on has one at spawn

[email protected]

>hits code-club itself, which has happend last year
do tell

Cool ,looks like it got some improvement.

How many Wurm threads do you think you've made in the past year user? It's time to give up, $30 is too high of an asking price for a community to ever form outside of these sales and the graphics and controls make it far too risky

I've only made three personally, and the threads usually bring a player or two.

A guy, went and bought allot of stuff from other players for real life money, inlcuding accounts.

He also bought gold and premium time from the offcial Code-Club store to play wurm.

After a while, suddenly he started disputing every purchase he made on paypal for wurm , those disputes included the gold/prem time he bought from the official wurm shop to.

So yeah, lots of people lost allot of money overthat, went on for a very long time to try and solve it. Paypal going left and right and eventually went with the credit card company and said all disputes where allowed, so the fella got his money back, but the ones he bought stuff from got scammed big time.

Head GM actually made a post on the wurm forums about it a few weeks ago, saying they were able to recover lots of the bought items and are doing there best to give everything back to the original owners who got scammed (but added again, that this is a one-time-only favor, just because of the scope of the scam which included code-club as a victim to).

did he get banned

Yup, never seen so many dev's/gm's spending so many time on a case before in Wurm.

All accounts (and stuff on them) were put under lockdown when many reports started flooding the forum about this fella. His main got banned, and accounts he bought are with the original owners again if I remember correctly.

Screen of the post made last month from head GM.

>still sub based.
Lame, i would jump in right away if it was 1-time buy as well.

>didn't read
Wurm Unlimited IS a one time buy

But arent you guys on normal wurm?

Online is sub, Unlimited is game only.

Oh onlimited is 1 time only play online?

No, we're on Unlimited. It's finally your time to jump into the game

I would but Haven and Hearth has a world reset in 5 days, that's a big adventure.

Yup, on steam.
store.steampowered.com/app/366220/

1 time pay, yup, allot of public servers online to play it on, inlcuding OP's pvp-server.

(with WU you can simply make your own offline server to for the real hermit experience offcourse)

Bought it, just got paid.

Installing and all that, but be warned, im terrible at videogames, so might need a bit of help.

Server?

I love shit like H&H, Salem and Wurm but I get burned up too fast. After a month or so I hit a wall where the game becomes just a repetitive grinder.
