Dude, you lost. Get over it.
Lol I'm crying.
Megadrive you colonial peasant.
Is Sega still better? how does their current console and handheld compare to Wii U and 3DS?
>Phantasy Star is better than Final Fantasy
Perhaps, but the SNES had more than just FF. The Genesis hardly got any decent RPGs apart from that, unless you include the Sega CD.
>Castlevania Bloodlines is better than Super Castlevania 4
True
musha is better than super aleste
thunder force IV is better than phalanx
street fighter ce is better than snes SF2 turbo
monsterworld IV is better than mario
the fucking list goes on and on, FUCK YOUR SUPA NINTENDAO
Can blast processing pull off F-Zero?
Genesis had no mode 7. Its fastest games couldn't even compare.
>he got a mere Megadrive
>not a Super Mega Drive 3
the royalty is talking
>he fell for the blast processing meme
Mode 7 wasn't a big deal. Genesis could do a lot of other graphical effects SNES couldn't.
Why is Tectoy still whoring out Segaclones in Hueland?
Because they've been making Sega games since the 90s.
I know, but haven't most of BRs moved onto newer consoles at this point?
About equal.
Don't forget its god-tier YM2612 sound chip
it is an old pic.
>Sonic is better than Mario
No
>Streets of Rage is better than Final Fight
SoR 2 is the best of the 6, but FF is better overall
>Phantasy Star is better than Final Fantasy
Not the SNES ones
>Ristar is better than Kirby
No
>Gunstar Heroes is better than Contra
YES.
>Castlevania Bloodlines is better than Super Castlevania 4
Yes.
>Aladdin on Genesis is better than Aladdin on SNES
Agreed, but very subjective
>Genesis got blast processing
Meme marketing at it's finest.
>>Aladdin on Genesis is better than Aladdin on SNES
this one is actually true, though
At least SEGA tried new ideas and came out with new franchises.
>Meme marketing at it's finest.
Blast Processing may had been a buzzword, but the Genesis did have a faster CPU than the Super NES.
No it couldn't. Show me a Genesis game with a rotating background like Super Castlevania IV or games with 3D polygons implemented like Star Fox or MMX2 and 3, which used the SFX chip.
Mode 7 isn't the only thing Genesis lacks. SNES stomps it out on a pure technical level, and this is apparent if you look at a sheet of the specs side by side. The only thing Genesis excels at is having a slightly higher MHz processing rate and that's why "blast processing" is a meme.
Didn't vectorman have some of these elements
>>Sonic is better than Mario
Both are classics equal to each other.
>>Streets of Rage is better than Final Fight
I'll give you this one
>>Phantasy Star is better than Final Fantasy
Also this one
>>Ristar is better than Kirby
You shut your whore mouth
>>Gunstar Heroes is better than Contra
Agreed wholeheartedly
>>Castlevania Bloodlines is better than Super Castlevania 4
Never played either, I should though
>>Aladdin on Genesis is better than Aladdin on SNES
It makes more sense to use swords than apples, I agree.
>>Genesis got blast processing
No, what the Genesis had was a better processor.
Not that I can recall, though Vectorman had impressive sprite work. It was just a decent game at best, though, which was the unfortunate thing about the Genesis. Plenty of decent games worth a play, but SNES managed to procure the timeless superstar hits. Golden Axe and Phantasy Star, as fantasy titles, are not as marketable as Zelda and Final Fantasy for instance.
YOU HAVE IN A COMMA FOR QUITE SOMETIME
YES YES
YOU MUST BE WONDERING HOW MUCH
I'M AFRAID
IT'S HAD BEEN
9 YEARS
Holy fuck, I can't stop laughing.
GENESIS HAS THE SUPERIOR VERSION OF BATTLETOADS!
NINTENYEAROLDS BTFO!
Does Genesis has Super Metroid? DK trilogy? Megaman X trilogy? FF trilogy? Chrono Trigger? Super Mario All Stars?
It was a pretty casualized port, since they based it on the Famicom version and not the NES one.
>rotating background
it's more common than you'd expect, see the boat stage in Streets of Rage 2 or the vs. Orange fight in Gunstar Heroes
it cheats, but fuck it, this is on a home machine released in 1988 with a VDP that doesn't have too many special features
also, webm related uses it when leaning into turns
>games with 3D polygons
Virtua Racing draws more polygons at a higher and more consistent framerate than any of the SuperFX games.
really, if Sega wasn't faffing around with the 32X, they'd probably have made more games with the Sega Virtua Processor
also, Kawasaki Superbike Challenge is a fairly solid polygonal racer on a stock Genesis with no expansion chips -- it cheats here and there for speed reasons, but it does proper 3D polygon drawing, see the webm
The added CPU heft makes any kind of software-based special effects go from painfully slow to manageable.
webm is running in Turbo mode, which simply adjusts the FOV and draws the player bike smaller so it has to fill less since this is all CPU
it's a standard feature in the game (and with Turbo mode off, the framerate is still playable, if a little low)
if there's one thing I wish the Genesis didn't fuck up on, it's the 9-bit RGB system palette
and Sega realized they fucked up, since three years after the Genesis' release, the Game Gear comes out with a 12-bit RGB system palette
considering the immediate competition for the first two years of the machine's life was the NES, Sega did damn good
List of good games on Mega Drive (not counting arcade ports/multiplats):
Sonic 2, Sonic 3+K, Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star IV, Streets of Rage series, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Rocket Knight Adventures, Comix Zone, Shining Force II, Alien Soldier
List of good games on the SNES (not counting arcade ports/multiplats):
Super Mario World, A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario Kart, Secret of Mana, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, Super Mario All-Stars, Mega Man X-X3, Final Fantasy IV/VI, F-Zero, ActRaiser, Super Castlevania IV, Kirby Super Star, Super Punch-Out!!, Secret of Evermore, Illusion of Gaia, Wild Guns, Terranigma, Demon's Crest
Oh yeah and all the arcade ports were better on Super Nintendo besides Mortal Kombat, which was a shit fighting game and always will be.
Fuck Mega Drive, SNES for life.
Same tired Nintendo franchises and weeaboo trash.
SEGA came up with original ideas.
Man, those Genesis games were great, so why the fuck did half of them never get ported or put in a collection?
No Gunstar Heroes, no Bloodlines, no RKA and definitely no Alien Soldier. God dammit, Sega.
SNES is the best console of all time and has the best library, too.
yeah nah
Yes, SEGA coming out with bangers like Altered Beast and fucking Alex Kidd. Where's Altered Beast and Alex Kidd now? Oh wait that's right, they're all dead and Sonic's a husk because nobody actually wanted to play that shit and you were stuck with whatever you got under the tree that year. I sure enjoy a dirty brown fart emitter for my sound chip as well!
You wrote so much shit but none of it helps your case. Holy shit.
friendly reminder you're 2 decades late and nobody cares about ancient console wars
>No it couldn't. Show me a Genesis game with a rotating background like Super Castlevania IV or games with 3D polygons implemented like Star Fox or MMX2 and 3, which used the SFX chip.
Uh.
So...
Vectorman had a rotating background.
Genesis was capable of 3D polygons without additional chips.
And they even have StarFox running on a Genesis nowadays without additional chips.
You're an idiot.
I'm talking during the Genesis days your sperg.
They had stuff like toe jam and earl,Ecco the dolphin, comix zone, the ooze, etc
All Nintendo uses nowadays is Mario, Zelda,Pokémon and Kirby...and
>SNES stomps it out on a pure technical level, and this is apparent if you look at a sheet of the specs side by side. The only thing Genesis excels at is having a slightly higher MHz processing rate and that's why "blast processing" is a meme.
This is a meme.
I'm sick and fucking tired of people saying SNES stomps Genesis on a technical level.
It doesn't.
SNES had more colors. Wow. Holy shit. Colors.
The Genesis' processor far outstripped the SNES. In those days, a faster processor meant larger sprites, more sprites on screen, higher resolution, and no slowdown.
The SNES had a slow ass processor and it limited the entire library.
I'm all for saying the SNES was a superior console, but stop fucking memeing about the hardware. Genesis didn't aim for having the most colors because in 1989 tons of color wasn't even a big issue on television sets of the time.
Sue's was more capable, but due to the cartridge format games could have on board chips that handleday things like 3d rendering. Star Fox is a common example, with its superFX chip. Virtua Racing on the Genesis is similar. SNES ultimately was prettier because the greater pallet and sound capabilities.
the real failing of the Genesis is that all of Sega's arcade mega-hits from back in the day required ridiculously powerful scaling hardware machines (the Y-Board that Galaxy Force II runs on has THREE 68k CPUs clocked at fucking 12 MHz, with a whole second board for the graphics unit)
like, you couldn't bring home good versions of After Burner or OutRun or Galaxy Force II or any of the System 32 games, and it's not like Sega hadn't been doing sprite scaling stuff since like 1982
and then the ridiculously dumb bit is that the Sega CD actually can make an attempt at doing these games justice, since it has scaling and rotation hardware (that also lets you do scaled sprites and not just background layers)
but they fucked up and promoted FMV bullshit instead
>hurr, I'm retarded
tl;dr:
>has background rotation
>better 3d performance, even without expansions
neck yourself
>Streets of Rage is better than Final Fight
You shut your whore mouth.
>SNES stomps it on a technical level
The Genesis could display 2-3 times the amount of sprites and independently scrolling 2D planes than the SNES.
All due to it's faster processor.
The SNES could scale objects with mode 7 and could display like 2-3 times the amount of colors.
You decide what you like more.
Final fight is a port of an arcade game.
Nintendrones think it's one of their own.
The Super Nintendo was definitely the superior gaming console of it's generation.
But I really do wish the memes would stop about how much more technically superior the SNES was than the Genesis.
The SNES was the better gaming console, with superior games, but it was not superior hardware.
You are about 25 years late with this thread. Apply yourself.
They're still clinging onto the PS2. They're the reason there were FIFA games on the PS2 as late as 2014.
But it was also on Sega CD.
>No
>Yes
>Yes
>No
>No but Vectorman is
>Yes
>unsure
>Yes
Looks like a slight victory for Genesis
How's paying tax money so some old slut of a queen can sit on her dying ass all day and have attendants play with her tax payer funded dogs?
>The SNES was the better gaming console, with superior games, but it was not superior hardware.
The super nintendo had more ram, audio channels, possible colors, simultanious colors, maximum simultanious sprites, larger sprites, a higher possible resolution, and more easily used graphical layers, along with the chip expansions.
The genesis had a better cpu, a different sound style, the sega CD and 32X.
I would personally say the snes was a better machine.
The Genesis version is better than snes. Animation is smoother. It runs much better
I loved them both equally.
>Sonic is better than Mario
no
>Streets of Rage is better than Final Fight
Better than SNES final fights, arcade shits on SoR
>Ristar is better than Kirby
no
>Gunstar Heroes is better than Contra
no
>Castlevania Bloodlines is better than Super Castlevania 4
yes
>Aladdin on Genesis is better than Aladdin on SNES
both are ok at best
>musha is better than super aleste
nah
>thunder force IV is better than phalanx
lol fucking phalanx, at least compare it to parodius, r-type 3 or axelay
>street fighter ce is better than snes SF2 turbo
they are pretty much the same shit
>monsterworld IV is better than mario
nah and retarded comparison
The Genesis had quite a few good RPGs, though most were either ARPGs, SRPGs, or dungeon crawls, not traditional turn-based JRPGs. And there's quite a few WRPGs on the Genesis as well.
>RPGs on Genesis
Phantasy Star series
Shining series
Langrisser/Warsong
Landstalker
Beyond Oasis
Sword of Vermilion
Light Crusader
D&D: Warriors of the Eternal Sun
Genesis version of Shadowrun
Rent-A-Hero
Crusader of Centy
Arcus Odyssey
Uncharted Waters
Fatal Labyrinth
Technoclash
Battlemaster
Madou Monogatari
Cadash
Immortal
Vixen 357
Super Hydlide
>Sega CD
Popful Mail
Vay
Lunar series
Shining Force CD
Dark Wizard
Dungeon Explorer
Shadowrun CD
At least being poorfags mean they can stick to actual good consoles.
>Sonic is better than Mario
Yeah, no. Not even Sonic at its best.
>Streets of Rage is better than Final Fight
Agreed. The music in the games alone puts the series at the top of the home console beat-em-ups.
>Phantasy Star is better than Final Fantasy
IV is the only one that could hope to compete, and it really doesn't. It comes across looking muddy and dated compared to all the fancy graphics on the SNES with FF6.
>Ristar is better than Kirby
Jesus, no.
>Gunstar Heroes is better than Contra
Agreed, but Treasure can do no wrong.
>Castlevania Bloodlines is better than Super Castlevania 4
Nah, bro. Though Bloodlines had some clever things in it, it can't compare to the graphical treat that is SC4.
>Aladdin on Genesis is better than Aladdin on SNES
This is unarguable truth.
>Genesis got blast processing
And it does what Nintendon't, which is lose market share and belong to a company that doesn't make hardware in 2017.
And yes, I owned a Genesis, not a SNES as a kid.
Vectorman is actual boring, repetitive trash and controls like garbage
What's so good about SMW?
Last time I played it, every surface was like slippery ice and I just gave up waiting for the shitty autoscroller level to finish.
>don't even mention Rocket Knight Adventures, the best 16-bit sidescroller
>slippery
smw is literally the least slippery 2d mario game
Have you even played Vectorman kid?
>every surface was like slippery ice
Probably played some mutated version of SMW, it's not slippery at all.
SMW is easily the worst 2d mario
and Sunshine is the worst 3d one you contrarian faggots
nobody even said anything about smw's position on rankings you stickman meme loving fuck
SNES had DKC2
Checkmate you stupid fucking nigger
>pre-rendered trash
and?
>Ristar is better than Kirby
Listen up, faggot. NOTHING es better than Kirby. Now go fuck your Sega MemeDrive.
The Genesis had FPS games a full year before SNES got Doom.
>comparing to ff
The snes DQ trilogy blows them both out of the water.
>NOTHING es better than Kirby.
It's literally the shittiest Nintendo IP
Absolutely mediocre
Even DONKEY KONG shits on it
Genesis (North America) - 20 million
Mega Drive (Japan) - 4.3 million
Mega Drive (Europe) - 6.9 million
Mega Drive (Brazil) - 2 million+
Genesis 3 (North America) - 2 million
Nomad (North America) - 1 million
Mega Drive (Other Regions) - 3.5 million
Oops, more Genesis' sold in the North America alone than the rest of the world bought Mega Drives combined.
I like Ristar but it is in no way better than kirby.
The SNES was only good for RPGs because it had a slug for a CPU
And since RPGs are trash, the SNES was trash
>nintendrones actually believe this
t. Someone who hasn't played a Kirby game. Ever.
sonic games are garbage but i always liked mega drive more than snes.
How dare Nintendo use properties that are still successful and fun. A true game company would create forgettable trash that drives them to financial ruin and forces them out of the hardware market.
Why are you so mad? It only took 20 more years but Nintendo is following Sega's blueprint for financial ruin to a T.
>>Ristar is better than Kirby
I've never punched a faggot before, but you're really egging me on here.
>snes color palette: 32,768
>genesis color palette: 512
>How dare Nintendo crank out soulless sequels and milk thier worst IPs while doing nothing with their best IPs
FTFY
Yeah. Now if SNES developers actually used those extra colors, then their games wouldn't have looked so desaturated.
WEEEEW
>a game developed for the Genesis looks worse when ported to the SNES
Now that causes one to ponder.
It looks better on the snes...
and the sky is green
That was my point, I uploaded the wrong image.
this
i mean, genesis has its good games, but fuck me does the SNES just wipe the floor with it when its quality games are brought up.
>Sonic is better than Mario
no
>Streets of Rage is better than Final Fight
Probably
>Phantasy Star is better than Final Fantasy
I can't pick a favorite here
>Ristar is better than Kirby
no
>Gunstar Heroes is better than Contra
I'll give you that
>Castlevania Bloodlines is better than Super Castlevania 4
and that
>Aladdin on Genesis is better than Aladdin on SNES
It's better looking but that's it.
>Genesis got blast processing
meme
tl;dr triggered
underrated post
outside of 1st party titles?
blame konami, treasure, etc etc
Genesis was a faster system than snes.

>average megadrive/genesis music
Nigger 1991 was 26 years ago who cares about those ancient dinosaurs anymore?
>Gunstar Heroes is better than Contra
Genesis had the best Contra game. you would know this if you actually owned a Genesis.
it also sold a LOT of copies
and, where were the arcade versions of Fight 2 and Fight 3? OH THATS RIGHT, CAPCOM KILLED IT!
i can't play ff2 or ff3 because they suck compared to ff.
