What's your opinion on Mario? Not the franchise, the character itself.

A mascot from a forgotten era when video games were identifiable by a single character.

He doesn't slide like Luigi, he's faster than Peach and he's better at jumping than Toad. What's not to like?

One dimensional.
He does the job without any complaints.

He doesn't have much of a character beyond woo-hoo let's a go although I do like his personality in Mario RPG. In fact that game has my favorite depictions of Mario, Peach and Bowser.

I always preferred Wario and DK.

My favorite video game character. Lot of people give me shit since Luigi has tons more character and emotion but, I like Mario's simple design, especially Paper Mario.

He's just a happy mustache man who saves the world. No story about him being a slave when he was young or how the gods killed his family.

Impressed that such an tame/plain design became the most iconic.

Every mascot tried to be cool/badass back then, and a fat plumber was what stood the test of time.

He has this Mickey Mouse thing going on that pisses me off, since he is the mascot (and its nintendo) they would rather play safe and not give him any personality that could be unappealing to someone, instead going with the heroic protag thing, doesn't help that he is a mostly silent protag and is already used as a window for immersion
