Are there any other games that this has happened to?
i'd rather have that than companies showcasing games as more than what they are for masturbatory pre-order bux
>based
kek all they did was not show off shit they couldn't achieve. you're comparing how games typically fall short of what they show off but not comparing what those first showed off looked like compared to what doom first showed off.
>tl;dr
apples and oranges. move along.
Hello ribbit
>The final game looks better than the E3
Is this a ruse?
reboot an old classic with mediocre to severely fucked up modern butchering? Yeah, dozens of times this decade alone.
>based id Software
>forgetting the blunder that was Rage
Yeah nah
I'm playing the game right now and I didn't expect it to be so fun.
>Didn't show the Quakecon 2014 presentation to the public which was allegedly actually fast
>The only campaign footage they showed pre-release (the E3 presentation) was horrendously slow
>Focused mostly on the horrible and pointless outsourced multiplayer
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
I thought it would be good since E3 reveal, though I'll admit that multiplayer-only shiftest of pre-release marketing got me really worried.
No beth seemed to really want the game to fail. The only thing they pushed prerelease was the multiplayer, to the point of making the season pass only multiplayer content, while also outsourcing it to a company infamous for fucking up multiplayer FPS games. Then they refused early review codes and a ton of other dumb shit.
People had good reason to suspect it was terrible.
they are still technologically inferior to Ubisoft and DICE
Witcher 3
Release ended up looking better than trailers
Too bad Ubisoft and DICE only make shitty games
LMAO
Marketing nothing but the outsourced afterthought MP mode was just a baffling decision.
Even if the MP mode was okay and/or developed in house, it wasn't even the focus of the whole package.
That got a major downgrade from the E3 teaser showcase. And it just looks like shit.
Not wrong about DICE, though. BF1 looks pretty much just like what was shown.
at least they develop games
this game is my 2016 GOTY DESU shit was so fucking fun
To be fair destructible terrain has been one of the hallmarks of TC games for ages.
Come on dude, it's my GOTY 2015 but it was the definition of downgrade.
It seems like D44M went through major development hell, Max Payne style. D44M documentary (which you should all watch, by the way, it's great) claims that id didn't even have a story while dangerously close to release, albeit the game itself was mostly done, at least. Also the arena design actually stems from scrapped multiplayer mode which was originally designed by id.
It's not a video game though.
>major downgrade
yes
>it just looks like shit
Either didnt play it or have an utter shit PC/consolefag
apart from that its probably the most impressive game technology-wise
devs made a godtier engine, too bad they cant make a good game
D44M was such an awful game. Literally everything wrong with modern game design rolled into one flashy package.
But muh nostaaaalgiaaaaaaaa
>MEGA
>TEXTURES
>too lazy to make an ending so the game just stops mid way through the final mission
>D44M documentary
link pls
thanks
This was entirely a result of asynchronous compute that exists console side. Being able to execute multiple shader operations of different types simultaneously, allowed them to not only significantly improve visual quality on consoles, but also reduce frametime latency to achieve their 60fps target. While it's true that on XB1 and PS4, there is some dynamic resolution scaling, overall it still is the BEST looking game on consoles and the best running game on consoles.
But user it was great and enjoyable in singleplayer
This is one of the biggest and most important parts of the game, and also the documentary.
I don't think it was awful, but it did have a lot of the things I don't like about modern FPS games, like:
-Upgrade system
-Unskippable scripted events
-Scripted animations for opening doors/pushing buttons
-Weak sounding guns (subjective, but I found half the guns unsatisfying)
It annoys me that they're trying really hard to push this idea that Doomguy is super hardcore brutal and doesn't give a shit, but you're so restrained that I don't really feel like a cool dude. Hell, Serious Sam is cooler than Doomguy imo.
Ehh, The Division has great lighting, but everything else is pretty hit or miss.
That's the point of the thread you dumb retard.
RAGE and Wolfenstein TNO were also actually impressive for the consoles at the time.
Both are 60 FPS, and RAGE thanks to Memetextures actually looks quite impressive from a distance (which makes it perfect for a console game where you play on your couch from a distance from TV).
I was actually really impressed with The New Order running so well on my PS3 while still looking decent back when I couldn't wait for PC version and played the pirate console leak like month ahead of time.
go back to breddit you little shit. this exact post was on it a day ago
perhaps you should go back with him retard
How fucking retarded can you be? Do you not see that this shows that you also go on reddit?
Jesus your parents must be shattered that they ended up with you instead of a functioning human being
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee okay
>redditors are self hating cucks
comedy gold
yesssss give me the (you)s
wow that's a minor graphical step above F.E.A.R. (2005)
how bagsed, as the kids say
>t. triggered redditfags
Keep replying to that post and cap it with something like "1/27/2016 the day user got btfo'd" you dickheads
Are you slow in the head, friend?
t. extremely stupid use of greentext.
>how bagsed, as the kids say
get your fucking life together you faggot
That might be nice if I notice it one time if its a decent game that I actually played. Who the fuck played The Division though? It's utter shit.
>Who the fuck played The Division though?
pretty much everyone
I haven't really played it since like May or June.
And for how long did they play it user?
Wolfenstein TNO E3 footage was pretty much identical to the final game which was rare as fuck
probably longer than you
Well yeah I only played the beta. Dodged a mediocre game almost as well as you dodged my question. Here let me help you: githyp.com
As a huge fan of the original Doom games, I thought DOOM pretty much did everything that made the originals so appealing and fun, and modernized it. The one major downside to it was that there weren't as many demons in a fight as in the originals.
Rage was so boring playing it literally gave me a headache. Took me three playthough attempts to get to the second hub town and the missions were still just "Go here, kill this, done." and I gave up
on part3 now
really enjoying it so far
