casual
Even worse.
>Items don't stack
casual
it gives the player a real sense of danger and keep you on your toes, also they're easy to telegraph.
Vanquish was pretty dope with it's instant kill moves because I felt threatened, and that is awesome.
>games that have flashlights that require batteries otherwise you're standing in pitch blackness and can't do shit
>select hard mode
>game removes the ability to lock-on
Casual
Hotline Miami is fantastic
casuals
>RPG
>Need containers to carry items
>Realistic limit on what they can hold
>game automatically turns down the difficulty if you die several times at one segment
>games with storages where a gas canister fits a single slot
>a lighter also only fits one slot
>escort missions
>consumable items have deteriorating condition/health
>there is no way to fix it
>Manage to dodge most of them
>Get to that part where you fight the robot that's a swarm of parts
>Get hit by it the first time
>I just explode into meat chunks
Caught me off guard.
Now for a real game play mechanic sin.
Any RPG that suddenly requires you to use a weapon type or skill that you never needed to use or improve through the entire game.
Like in Dragon Age suddenly needing a ranged weapon on the final boss even if you've been 100% melee the entire game.
you haven't played God Hard
>mechanic is tied to framerate
>having the framerate go above 30 breaks the game
it's part of the difficulty bro
>Any RPG that suddenly requires you to use a weapon type or skill that you never needed to use or improve through the entire game.
You don't need to use one, but the people who said you should just use a bow to get through Shrine of Amana in DaS2 are retarded.
call of duty has one hit deaths.
therefore it's bad mechanics.
*say
You shitting on shmups?
Come on man, the Souls series is all about different areas rewarding different playstyles. It's not like it's impossible to do with a melee build (although on launch it was super fucking annoying).
Dark Souls is also more like an action game honestly.
>JRPG characters get tired regardless of taking damage
That area was hell pre-patch though
>the Souls series is all about different areas rewarding different playstyles
That's true but you shouldn't be forced to use a certain weapon in a certain area.
What is a megaman
Yeah and you aren't in that example.
>Game has tons of stats
>The only important one is level
>Enemies 2 levels above you are effectively invincible and impossible to fight
>Enemies 2 levels below you pose no threat at all
This pisses me off. It's just bad game design and done by people who cannot into math or game balance.
That's why they hit the area with a huge nerf bomb user
>Weapon durability
Exactly but people act as if every player just happens to have a bow for that one place alone.
Thank fucking god for that.
casual
>platforming in a non-platform game
But in Hotline Miami you also kill most enemies with one hit, so it's pretty fair.
>Hurr durr my sword never dulls and never needs sharpening
That's more an issue with scrubs who can't git gud thinking that's the only way but nothing to do with the area, what's your point?
You basically described 90% of all CRPGs.
OH SHIT ITS OUT?
you're never forced to do anything user
kh is so fucking guilty it's not even funny
Yesss
90% of modern day western RPGs. It's lazy design and needs to stop.
most weapon durability mechanics are stoopid though.
i liked how it worked in morrowind
>cheat str to 1000
>break weapon in one hit due to sheer strenght
and the weapons themselves were pretty durable, i think it's the best way to do it
indeed it does.
it's the reason why i stopped playing witcher 3.
>go to bandit camp
>some bandits fucker are somehow harder to kill than a fucking bear because they are skull level
>some fucking no-name bandits give a fucking 100 year old monster slayer veteran a hard time because of shitty game mechanics
>cheat
instant right to complain revoked
the minute you break the game the devs no longer have to cater to you
???
i'm not complaining, i'm proving my point about how morrowind had a great durability system because it was strength related, using an extreme example is just the best way to showcase it.
That ain't shit. The real sin is games that give you shitballs of HP, but if you get hit once you don't get the A rank that gives you the final tier of weapon. Fuck you, Hyrule Warriors. I did it, but I was never happy. THREE FUCKING BARS OF HEALTH and if you lose 1/8 of 1 bar you lose.
