>Will it sell 50 million?
no
Maybe
Are you looking to buy Nintendo shares?
I don't know
Can you repeat the question?
Nobody knows.
You're not the boss of me now!
So get this, we say we'll do it different this time and people will buy it.
There's not much buzz about it, I expect it to be less popular than 3DS.
Id expect at least 30,000,000
But all those parents already bought their larvae a ps4. They aren't buying another game box.
>Because if not, what's the point?
Entertain people?
We all know that the video game industry has nothing to do with entertainment
yeah.. thanks Sony!
We are talking about the console that will replace the 3DS and get home console games
We are talking about the new pokemon machine
We are talking about the console with the first zelda open wolrd game
We are talking about the console that will have all of nintendo's prime developer teams and also secondaries
This console is gonna have games everymonth up the ass, no more major droughts of games.
The Switch is gonna be the shit regardless of sales numbers, I bet it gets easily, EASILY 55M lifetime sales.
Yes. How is that even a question. It can be complete shit with no games and it will sell 50 million.
If it is about as powerful as an Xbone, portable, and only 250 dollars, the question for me won't be whether I get one but how many I end up getting. You know it is going to be backed too, and it can play GameCube games. 250 for portable cube, sign me up.
Screenshotting for salt mining purposes
No, but even if it sold that much it would be a huge failure if we are talking LTD here.
13m WiiUs + 61m 3DSs = 75m consoles
50 million switch consoles sold would mean they lost a third of hardware sales gen over gen.
No.
I think it will good compared to the wii. For one the Nintendo switch is tapping into a market that no other game company is doing. Plus since it will be a "tablet" priced at 250 parents will look at it compare it to the iPad and buy it. Also if it's like the wii by tapping into another market it will possibly win the second round of the console war.
>This console is gonna have games everymonth up the ass, no more major droughts of games.
How? Even 3DS didn't
Also when you say " it has no games" that's like saying In whatever the hell year facebook was created I won't buy stock of facebook because I don't know anyone on it.
It will sell 100 million, no more, no less, screencap this
>competition is ramping up with exclusives
It's quite honestly 99% trash and re-treads of shit we've all seen last gen.
Lastly, the people who nintendo are going after with this thing don't give a single solitary fuck about either system or the multiplats the AAA guys will limp to the barn with.
No seriously, does anyone who'll pick up that console give three squirts of monkey piss about skyrim or skyrim on the go?
It's a fucking publicity stunt. Well, except for the japs but they've already ran a train on that game and are just bored of fucking it.
i know i'm not falling for it after wii u and new 3ds
If it's not full of f2p garbage like farmville and angry birds it's not going to sell to normalfags.
If you consider stealth giving up on home consoles a good thing I guess it selling 50m would be good. But 50+20m is larger than just 50m
I own both of those and am happy with em
No because facebook alternatives were just as unknown and they were shit in comparison while everyone has better alternatives for vidya right now
Probably more since everyone who has a vita/3ds/wii u will have no other choices.
The games they will put on it will last a while and they will still add on to it
The point is completely changing how this cancerous industry works.
Games used to make money on 100k sales. Now, they don't make money on 5m sales. When you look at it that way, the Gamecube was obviously a far more profitable console to develop on, percentage-wise, than the PS4 is. You have to sell 50x as many copies and you have 5x the playerbase. It's easy math. Not everyone is going to be able to make up that 10x multiplier with marketing. Someone is going to fail, and when they do, they'll have no money left to work with.
It doesn't matter if the Switch sells 30m units or 20m units or 10m units as long as the games made for it don't cost too much to make. Then, even 200k sales is a smash hit. Fundamentally, that's the sort of console the Switch is. There is no need to compete with the PS4. You don't need to convince gamers to buy a Switch "instead" of a PS4. You just have to convince anyone who might be interested in a Switch, in the Switch's games, to buy it. If you do that, and you manage to convince 3rd party developers to develop cheaper, smaller games on your console, then you've already won, regardless of what Son/v/gaf thinks.
>Yes. How is that even a question. It can be complete shit with no games and it will sell 50 million.
The Wii U didn't.
Most likely, assuming they actually release games for it unlike with the Wii U.
But the ps4 did and if that can succeed anything can succeed.
Nier Automata, Gravity Rush 2, and Nioh are rehashes, but ports of Smash Wii U, Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon are totally fine, right?
Color me surprised if it breaks 30 million.
Why did you male that image anyway?
But the PS4 had great marketing behind it and Nintendo's marketing sucks.
>but ports of Smash Wii U, Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon are totally fine, right?
>rumors vs confirmed games
This is something I think a lot of people don't get.
It might seem on paper, that pulling Gamecube numbers would be an improvement from the Wii U, but Nintendo's sacrificing their handheld line for this thing.
Even if you smooth out production costs of what it takes to keep two consoles afloat, 50 million genuinely is not an unreasonable number.
...user, why do you think the NS will do this? It's still more powerful than a gen 7 console and gen 7 was the gen that killed off most AA devs. Not to mention game cards costly a bit more to manufacture than BDs and having to compete with Nintendo first parties will still destroy most AA devs who try to develop for it.
Because I got tired of making the same tired arguments every time the topic came up, and digging to get the images each time I did, only to have fanboys straw man them, when my argument is that it's a combination of ALL those factors why the Switch won't do well.
Also, the image is outdated, it assumes Pascal, when rumors and all logic point to Maxwell, but I'll wait for the actual reveal before making a new one.
Then I can show the entire Switch launch line up to make it more accurate too.
Their switch commercial managed to outshine the reveal for RDR2 so they must be doing something right.
Quit deluding yourself into believing they won't be ports. I also fail to see how Nier Automata, Gravity Rush 2, Nioh, and Horizon are in any way "rehashes."
Okay so since some of the forum is hating on the wii u for a second let me point out something. The wii was marketed to family's and that was something no game companies did and that's why it "won" the 360 ps3 console war. But what was the Wii U marketed towards? Nobody in general and that's why it wasn't much of a success with the switch they are marketing it towards people who will use like a phone and not have to have too much of a time commitment. Also look at all of the games in the switch trailer that they took away from the tv. THEY CAN ALL BE PAUSED!!! That's why the switch will win the second round is because they are marketing to another untapped market.
The development of games was divided between the wiiu and 3ds. One unified platform.already garantees a healthier 1st party line up trough the years. Also pokemon seller, splatoon and mk with decent graphics and mobile will giarant a lot of 3rd party in japan once they are out.
Well if they keep that up they'll have a chance, in modern video game industry marketing is all that matters when it comes to sales.
Having a shitton of autistic fanboys especially when they are scaring legit consumers away is not "doing something right".
>Quit deluding yourself into believing they won't be ports
Quit believing trannies like the gullible faggot you are
The switch itself is closer to a tablet so wouldn't it make more sense to lump it in the tablet market? I also noticed that the mixed responses had very few views.
The reveal was highly positive what arr you talking about?
Wii U was marketed toward gamers. Reggie outright said this at E3.
I did not know the PSP outsold the 3DS. Jesus.
Wii U was marketed toward the hardcore crowd who hated the Wii. But they didn't care because it was shit.
Wii U and 3DS output added together is still pretty shitty.
Even the fucking PS4 had more exclusives come out this year and they also have 3rd party games.
Thanks for saying where it was marketed too. Thanks!
nintendo had to distribute their developers between the 3DS and Wii U,which meant months with games for 3DS but not for Wii U and viceversa.
With the Switch nintendo will be able to concetrate all their resources on a single platform, we may see the 3DS fading by summer 2018.
Sony had a good share of.mobile market but dropped the ball hard with the vita and agaisnt phones too
I don't have to believe trannies when the announcement trailer showed off the ports.
He said it but take a look at the actual commercials, they were most, if not all, screaming "this is a game for kids", Nintendo's marketing was quite terrible for that gen.
Most ps4 exclusives have a habit of getting delayed.
Where was the marketing you're talking about?
youtube.com
Not exactly seeing the hardcore here.
WTF is with the Youtube section? I've seen those videos, and only one was negative, the rest weren't, and one of them is a fucking parody
Uh? 2012 to 2014 had alot more first paty releases than the ps4 in exclusives have now
Absolutely everything shown for Splatoon in that trailer was new.
>But the ps4 did and if that can succeed anything can succeed.
Like the Wii U?
I've mentioned this in the past as the only out for the Switch, as a gaming tablet. But without the proper OS, features, and apps, it's dead in the water. Tablets of similar cost already outdo it.
>highly positive
Highly positive because they didnt show anything of substance and had to use faked gameplay footage.
Just wait till no third part shows up, the OS and online is still messed etc.
Also the Nintendo switch is having better third support we might get dark souls on it which scares me because you do not want to play dark souls in a mall. You would of killed everyone around you
Prove that they're ports
Or not being exclusives at all
Same engine m8.
Sjowed zelda, spaltoon and a new mario togheter with the portable capabilities. Thats hardly nothing
And... ?
>had to use faked gameplay footage.
Source?
>same engine/=/same game
Admittedly, it's too strong to really bring about a renaissance, but it's a step in the right direction.
Plus, it's clearly aiming for the handheld devs, and in general their games are much more varied in terms of budgets and "budget acceptability" among their audiences.
Prove that they're not.
You have no idea what a video game engine is or does.
Every app on a tablet can be done on someone's phone so there's never really been a reason to upgrade before.
No o e is a dumb as square enix to make a new engine on each new game
Burden of proof is on you m8
Nintendo sure is.
>proving a negative
3D World used the same engine, it seems the WiiU had less games than we thought
Eh? They constantly use the same engine with just some updates.
user, even if you combine 3DS and Wii U releases, there were still hardly any games. Without a lot of third parties, you don't have enough games for a console.
Ok, wait 9 days.
Your move.
You still didn't answer my question about Nier and the rest. This level of strawmanning is pathetic.
>Unreal Tournament and Dragon Quest XI are the same game
>Couldn't wait 9 days himself and already made a TL;DR image about it
>Doesn't know what strawmanning is
>Three games
>Two of which are in fact rehashes a third is basically Onimusha
Bruh.
>non sequitur
The Switch is gonna be like a modern day DS. It will surprise people how many games it gets. It will sell like 30 million minimum, 80 million tops. If it does poorly Nintendo will just act like it wasnt a new thing and was more of an enhancement to Wii U and 3DS.
There was a image posted here where the "footage" was over the thump of a guy playing. You can watch the trailer again its somewhere in there.
>Sjowed zelda, spaltoon and a new mario
Multiplat, Port, and yeah a new mario like literrally nobody expected the switch to get.
>portable capabilities
And how portable is it? What is the battery time? How do the games actually look like? What kind of display is it using? How comfortable are the controlls? How is storage handled for AAA games? Are even all games possible to run in portable mode?
Like I said nothing of substance.
Not him but most of the games in your image are incredibly niche.
What did you hope to accomplish by using them?
>sequels are rehashes
Then why are you excited for the Switch? It's got nothing BUT ports and rehashes.
it has the potential to
but it wont
>Use the same engine
>LOL THAT'S A NON-SEQUITUR
