They got part of a proper remaster right but it didn't have enough bridges or fully modeled vagina with dripping physics.
Because my laptop can run the regular version on high whith higher draw distance while it can only run the HD version on low, therefore the regular version looks better
Yeah I killed the first Thalmor patrol I saw so now I'm level 7 with Thalmor assassins coming after me all the time.
It was worth it
As someone who played the original on console ill say that that pic severely undersells how nice the se looks but it doesnt make up for the quests being next level terrible and i have extreme buyers remorse
>purchased
No.
I got it for free from a gameshare
>not having the base game and all its DLC long before the remaster was even a thing
>not getting the remaster for absolutely free
what meme are you pulling here
It was free for me got the goty regular version and got the upgrade for free.
modding the original yourself makes it look better than the remaster and is free
I'm not rebuying something I already had the original version of that only came out 5 years ago and I don't see any reason to replay it now anyway, Skyrim was mediocre at best
t. todd
i came really close to buying this and then said fuck it
every now and then i get the urge and then just jerk off or eat cereal or something and then i'm over it

I GOT STUCK REGAINING THE PALE AGAIN FFS RIKKE
No, and if you don't like the weather there are PLENTY of great weather mods to choose from
SE has improved godrays
It's a Bethesda game. Those are always terrible.
>62-bit
>Better Engine
So it's not even true 64-bit then.
You really don't realize how much this game was missing ambient occlusion until you actually see it.
I bought it for 0$ from tpb.
no bugs fixed
eat shit
Yeah. The rest is missing because Bethesda is a 2-bit company.
Fuck off faggot
I'll see you after school tomorrow user
But you gave it to me, Todd.
I haven't been keeping up on this--is the SE still shittier than the normal version?
better
Depends on your specs and mods
it mostly runs better than the original
I LIED
GIVE ME $60 IMMEDIATELY
That's good. Do the old version mods work with it, or does everything have to be re-done?
Anything that requires SKSE, which is basically everything good, doesn't work.
Mods have to be ported but many already have been
There's only a few things I miss like hud mods and Hunterborn.
>get it on steam for $5
>play about 3 hours before I realize it's the same shit as oblivion, except a more dumbed down action game
>get the remaster for free
Bethesda hasn't game a good game since Morrowind. None of their games deserve the kind of praise they receive, but of course it all comes from redditors, casuals, and the gaming press (bloggers).
They literally didn't change the engine, what the fuck are you talking about?
I laughed, that one was pretty good.
Good job user.
anybody who actually payed money for the remastered version is hopefully now on a euthanization program's list
It's one of the most boring games i''ve played (played tons of Mrrowind and Oblivion and loved it), combine that with god awful audio design/quality and I can't get immersed for more than 5 seconds.
>he had to pay again
How does it feel to get milked for every drop?
>They literally didn't change the engine,
They're using the fallout 4 version.
> 62
I got it off Amazon for $30 because I never played Skyrim or any Elder Scrolls game before. The fact that Bethesda has the audacity to charge $60 for a game from 2011 shouldn't shock me as much as it does.
Related story: I was getting Titanfall 2 and some ginger dwarf behind me tried to start a conversation about it, then proceeded to buy like three PS4 games including Skyrim.
Got if for free but never downloaded it
merely pretending
its a pile of wrpg shit like the rest of the crap that comes out from the west
>omg u are the big hero save the world from the dragons
fuck shitrim and fuck bethesda they need to go under soon and take those fucks at microshit and ea with them.
Got it for $30 too because my laptop is shit at running games and I only ever played the vanilla game without expansions on ps3.
...
>You have ten seconds to explain why you didn't buy the game
I didn't enjoy it the first time around.
T-TODD
>62-Bit
Not even true 64-bit, just upscaled. It's the PS4 Pro's "4k" all over again.
Got it for free. Been playing the shit out of it.
Not pictured in the original Skyrim is 300 hours of pirated play before realizing the game was worth every penny and buying it.
But in those 1000 hours of play, I never completed the main storyline, or the expansion storylines. There are quests and npcs and shit that are still new to me. Like the archery trainer chick in the southern mountains. I had no clue she was there until recently.
I usually played something weird like a wandering alchemist who relied on poisons and potions to kill enemies with a steel dagger, or a jedi using bound blade, wandering Skyrim in robes and using Calm spells to avoid fights most of the time and then dueling boss enemies to the death.
Current character is basically a Dark Ranger from WC3. Necromancy + Archery, with a bit of Alchemy for Lingering Damage Health poisons and some Illusion for Mind Control type spells.
Start the fights by casting Fury or something on one or two enemies, then, when one dies, revive it to fight for you while you finish off survivors with arrows. Revive more undead bodyguards as previous ones die.
>buy the game
But Todd gave it to me for free.
I think Todd is a pretty cool guy. Eh, gibs me free game and doesn’t afraid of anything.
what mod is that?
oh man i love me some dullahan action
Christ I hope this is pasta
>62-bit
Are you autistic? Or just retarded?
How do you do it? Oblivion and to a lesser extent morrowind drew me in and didnt let go like this but i just cant with skyrim
I have to give him credit for playing the game in wonky styles. I always end up with a stealth bow faggot because the melee and magic combat is trash.
Todd no. You've already fooled me twice
Tamriel reloaded
>>omg u are the big hero save the world from the dragons
Nothing wrong with that. I actually miss the straight forward "you're a hero now go slay the dragon" trope. Every modern fantasy game is now grimdark, game of thrones shit.
Also microsoft and EA have been cleaning up their act lately. If anything it's Ubisoft that needs a good whipping.
Nope. Ask me anything. Game's pretty fun even if it's simplified compared to previous games in the series.
I also played a Nord Death Knight. Same shit. Heavy Armor, 2-Handed Axe, Necromancy, and Frost Magick. Pull enemies with Ice Spike, throw up Frost Cloak, start carving them up. Raise an undead if you need another body on your side. I liked using The Ritual Stone for an Army of the Dead/Lich King kinda thing.
Also spent some time on Bosmer Predator.
Sneak, Invisibility, dual wielded Axes, ended up investing in some Alchemy for poisons. Only ever took quests that sent me to kill sentient beings. Did a lot of bounties. Savior's Hide was a centerpiece on that character's gear.
I spent even more hours in Morrowind and Oblivion when they were the latest TES game. But after each iteration, I couldn't go back to the clunky old potato graphics and always had trouble readjusting to the old mechanics. I'll put more time on Skyrim, but when TES VI comes out, I'll probably be unable to play it anymore, unless TES6 is just hideously bad somehow.
I've had a few of those characters too, but they get super boring. And that's coming from someone who, on the Alchemist playthrough, basically walked from Hold to Hold buying ingredients, mixing them, then selling the poisons and potions as often as I spent traipsing into the wilderness to search an old crypt for rare alchemy materials.
I don't usually use fast travel, so I was walking/riding most of the time, with some carriage use here and there.
>I don't usually use fast travel, so I was walking/riding most of the time, with some carriage use here and there.
I don't either. Nothing ruins those games more than fast travel. Gotta go somewhere? Oh I'll just teleport!
Nope. Time to walk. I'm glad I only found out that shit exists after getting used to walking again.
If you have more play styles worth mentioning id love to hear some for inspiration
I hate Skyrim so much but I can't stop playing it
somebody end my miserable life
i didn't buy it because I somehow ended up with it for free
kinda wish i got the console version for free instead because there is no reason to get it on the PC
I play on pc and the se would offer me nothing new.
I already played Skyrim. I don't need to pay again for a medium sized patch
Also this
Imagine if they werent rushed for 11 11 11 release date
>no SKSE
>no SexLab
Nope.
So are all the decent mods still fucked because the SkyUI faggot doesn't want to update his mod?
Yup
most of that stuff actually did make it into DLC though
No because we got it for free as an upgrade.
skyui faggot literally doesn't matter. the ui part was ported day 1. the only part we still need is the mod configuration menu, which can't start being developed until a new Script Extender is created. the script extender team is working on that project and periodically post updates on how they're doing but it'll be a few months before they finish.
but i dont know why everyone is:
1) so impatient. the SE came out like not even 2 full months ago, why would unpaid mod teams already have fully functioning ports of complex mod packages that took them 5 years to develop for oldrim?
2) so obsessed with the script extender. "all of the decent mods" yeah fucking right. all of the decent, actually important mods that change things are already ported. you only need your script extender for meme things like porn mods and cloth physics and other superfluous things. most of the best, actually integral mods from oldrim already have a special edition version out.
>62-Bit
I played a Breton Juggernaut once.
Heavy Armor, Smithing, Alteration Magick, 2-Handed Weapons, then leveled Enchanting eventually.
The basic idea was to get as much Magick Resist, Magick Absorb, and Armor as possible to become unstoppable.
Took the 30% Spell Damage reduction and 30% Spell Absorb in Alteration alongside the Atronach Stone for even more Absorb.
Atronach Stone is 50% Absorption, and Breton Dragonskin racial is 50% Absorb temporarily, so while it's up you have a 100% chance to absorb magick damage against you (and stupidly, any summon spell you cast, but that doesn't matter in this build)
Alteration levels quickly just casting a Skin spell before each fight, but if you level it too fast your damage will be shit and physical damage will still wreck you, so I got the Atronach Stone early on and focused on leveling Smithing and 2-Handed with a focus on Warhammers to get my armor and damage output up.
Makes the game slightly boring, though. And now you can become a Vampire, get Necromage from level 70% Restoration, and then the Atronach Stone gets boosted to like 67% absorb and the Perk gets boosted to like 37%, so you can have 100% spell absorb on ANY race.
I ended up leveling 2-handed, smithing, and heavy armor in that order, then going back and powering up alteration and skipping all the perks I could except for Atronach. Then I was rich by that point so I bought all the filled soul gems merchants had on them, usually by trading my 70 fucking dwarven/ebony/elven bows I leveled smithing with, and then enchanting shoes and boots with Muffle since it's the same strength regardless of the gem level. Every damn enemy wears boots, and many wear 0-weight shoes, so it's easy to stock up and then sell em for a big profit.
You mean SKSE.
I bought it but apparently there are less people playing Remaster than the original Skyrim now. I dunno how the mod scene is for Special Edition but I'm hoping SKSE can start working for it.
Shield Wizard user, Shield Wizard.
i got it for free right after getting a 1060, so it runs perfectly, but i only played it for like 30 minutes
i never even finished the game, and i dont plan to
Also played an Orc Samurai.
Heavy Armor, Archery, 2-Handed Swords. Smithing leveled later on.
Just as straightforward as it sounds. Engage enemies from a distance with arrows, then draw sword for up-close dueling.
Used Orcish Armor for the aesthetic the whole time, and the various katana-like swords in the game for a weapon.
Most of the fun there was in the roleplaying. I played that character like an uptight, rigid samurai asshole. Every quest or npc interaction was decided based on how "honorable" it would be to pursue.
Inversely, I played a Daedric Cultist asshole to get the Oblivion Walker achievement. A sneaky, scummy, thieving, murderous asshole. Illusion spells to hide and make enemies fight each other, lots of poisons from alchemy, Speech to preach the words of the Princes, etc.
Combat was mostly instigating violence with illusion spells then sneaking in under muffle and invisibility to backstab the lone survivor, if not using Calm to make them stand there as I walked up and stabbed them with a poisoned knife.
Wore no armor. That character got 1-shot more than once when he got caught by a tough enemy like a dragon priest, but I liked when that happened because he was an evil character getting what he deserved.
regular skyrim was $10 cheaper
what are the diferences?
is the tremendously boring gameplay better?
did they add quests?
or is it just "look we remembered to put a sun in the game this time pls buy"
Is there a reason to play Skyrim other than the porn mods?
Already had Skyrim, and all the sex mods work on it specifically
I got it for phr33
but i did
bought legendary for 10 bucks and then you gave me special edition, remember?
>Buy
I got it for free.
Not even gonna bother until SKSE is released for it.
None of the important stuff, and imagine how much other stuff there was
>there are less people playing Remaster
That's to be expected on steam. Many people already had Skyrim modded to their liking so there wasn't too big of a need to immediately upgrade. The only people who got large gains out of the SE immediately were console players (1080p as opposed to sub 600p, solid 30fps as opposed to lingering around ~20fps, mod support, etc)
> I'm hoping SKSE can start working for it.
The mod team makes blogposts every few weeks documenting their progress. They say there's been enough changes to the game engine that it's not as easy as a simple update or port, but rather they need to rebuild the Script Extender from the ground up. Recently they announced a tentative beta release date for March.
If you already have a modded Skyrim with 150 mods and everything is just the way you like it, there's not much reason to upgrade. But within 6 months to a year, it will objectively be the superior platform which to play Skyrim on. It's more stable, runs better with more mods (I get like 30 fps with JK's Skyrim in a city on oldrim, but with the Special Edition I don't dip below 55fps in the same city with the same mod), the volumetric exterior lighting is more advanced than anything we had before, etc.
Which reminds me of my Vampire character.
I made a character focused on Illusion, Conjuration, and Sneak, mostly. With some Frost perks from Destruction thrown in.
He was played like an arrogant ass who never wanted to get his hands dirty, so he stood back and used illusions and necromancy to make enemies kill each other then walked through and rifled the bodied for loot before continuing. When he DID have to fight he used Frost Magick and Vampire Lord Form.
Speaking of which, my Companion/Werewolf character was a knight in shining armor. Heavy Armor, Restoration, Block, 1-Handed weapons. Later on I got him some Courage/Rally type Illusion spells so he could buff allies even more.
He was played like a noble knight out to make the world a safer, kinder place, but his dark secret was the Lycanthropy he sometimes failed to keep contained. Sometimes he'd lose his temper and go wolf form and shred people, even sometimes innocents nearby, but usually just enemies who did despicable things, like raise the dead or summon daedra.
This also ended up being kind of a boring run, because Heavy Armor + Shield + Restoration = low damage but tons of survivability. You end up soaking and healing tons of damage. I ended up using a heal/turn spell in the off-hand and a melee weapon in the main hand.
The biggest pain was trying to find -% restoration costs on heavy armor without leveling enchanting, which I eventually did anyhow. For a long time that character was like a Vigilant of Stendarr. Restoration Robes and heavy armor in the other slots.
