Does anyone actually believe this?

>>Zen offering 10x the power of an i7 at $150
If true I'll buy one immediately.

I don't expect it to be true.

the final days of amd

amdfags

DELET PLS MR ENVIDIO

i have R9 270. what should i upgrade it with? 270 is pretty good, though

RX 470

>270 is pretty good, though
it's worthless piece of shit boy, it only let me to play at 30-40fps in most games no matter which details.
Wait for Vega, so you could get true budget card - rx 470 after it will drop in price.
Gtx 1060 6gb is even better than that but only buy if you want much more power (especially if you want to oc) and don't care that much about money.

i don't know, i play most games at 60+fps, but i think a lot of games i play aren't very graphics intensive. recently, i bought insurgency during the sale and this was when i noticed it was a constant sub-60fps

We'll have to wait and see real benchmarks. The main reason people are saying this is because of the improved IPC from Zen and how close it stacked up to the 6800K at only 3.4.GHZ.

I wouldn't put it at $150. Closer to $250 for the binned Black Editions and you're looking more at a CPU that's probably equal to an i5 but behind the i7. If you have a 4-core Zen CPU that could potentially overclock past 4GHZ, it's going to be impressive with the IPC improvements and extra threads. i5 doesn't do hyperthreading, Zen's CPU's will so 4 cores, 8 threads and run cool at 65W.

The potential downside is, people talked the same bullshit about Polaris being so efficient and an overclock monster and it turned out to be a letdown in overclockability and have unstable, crappy power consumption.

The best approach is to wait for the benchmarks and not get too excited without numbers.

FUCKING KEK Sup Forums turned console-only, huh?

>two days until Intel and Nvidia are BTFO
That's what you cucks said about Hilary, too.

What?

>Zen offering 10x the power of an i7 at $150
It's $300, dumbfuck, which is still 1/3 of Intel's overpriced garbage.

If anything, this will cause other gpu's to get a price drop
And maybe get intel and nvidia to actually try now that they have an actual competitor

hillary will still win. we have firesign

is it really that time again

>If anything, this will cause other gpu's to get a price drop
Yeah, in a year or so. People expecting an immediate price drop are retarded, Intel needs to see how successful Ryzen CPUs are on the market to even consider a price drop.

AMD thing will be the licensing.
They will most likely adopt an ARM style core licensing scheme, and with the Zen basically being an AMD branded core CPU in terms of performance, apple will just jump on their cock to do a custom SoC that integrates EVERYTHING on the next macbook, as an example they do with their phones.

Current benchmark for Zen show it more like a 6800K, for the chip that is rumored to have a 350$ version and a highly binned 500$ version.

It's an engineering sample benchmark, so the chip is probably not performing as well as it could though.

No but if it offers i5 performance for half or 25% less price than them then that's a success in my book.

amd better do something, cpu market needs some fucking competition again. i want price wars and arms races like the tbird days again. same with gpus, nvidia hasn't made a leap since 8800gtx.

There aren't going to be any price drop retard.

Dude, the i7 6800K is a 3.5GHz processor.
At best it has IPC parity or a slight edge, but that's not going to be case in all workloads. The Zen architecture has shortcomings which may prove relevant in real life.

It's a colossal improvement on the current FX processors and I have no doubt it will put AMD back on the map in terms of competition, but it's not magical nor is AMD a charity.
The prices for those parts will be high, they are designed to compete with LGA 2011-3 chips.
The chips that will compete with Kaby Lake in price are coming later.

You'll be lucky if any of those chips go as low as 250.

>You'll be lucky if any of those chips go as low as 250.
That's already literally a steal. The fuck is wrong with you?

I'm still gonna get a Kaby Lake next week

What?

I might get it since I have an old 8 core amd cpu from 2011.

>You'll be lucky if any of those chips go as low as 250.
i'm fine with that as long as i could get 4c/8hyperthreaded cores with similar single core perf as intels

Pretty much. The $230 i5 price going down might make budget builds more affordable

Though amds Ryzen equivalent would still have 8 threads so it's better

If you pay more than $100 for a CPU. You're an idiot

Im hype. Hype as fuck

Yea consider Intels i7s are fucking 300+ for 4 cores with hyper threading to 8 threads

>buying old used CPUs
ok

Nothing is wrong with me, I'm saying that it's highly unlikely that any of them will go that low in price. And it won't be the one they are comparing to the i7 6800K.

I am not sure you'll even get 4C yet. The APUs will come later and those will be up to 4 cores, for the Ryzen that is about to be released to end up at 4 cores an entire quad of cores has to be disabled. Unless they have the shittiest yields imaginable that is a questionable proposition.

They have 8 physical cores on the die.
One thing I expect is that you'll very likely to be able to unlock 6 cores to 8 cores, since AMD doesn't laser cut defective logic like nvidia and Intel do.

did anybody get their 30 bux from the nvidia 970 class action yet?

I want it to be good.
Intel needs competition so much, and nvidia can use it, too. Please let it be good.

Intel must have five years worth of research in their basement by now and no reason to release any of it because AMD just kept sucking dick.

Tell me it's going to be good so we can get another Sandy Bridge.

Lads, it's just AMD.

i meant 4c/4ht my bad

I don't but you are clearly retarded if you think CPU prices are fair
>he seriously thinks a shitty outdated FX-6300 is worth $90
>he seriously thinks any intel CPU is worth $1000

And now with Skylake you can't even take the easy route out with just going Xeon. Different chipset. Yet another sign of "we have no competition so we don't give a fuck" on Intel's side.

That would be fucking sick if we get another Phenom II situation like that where we can unlock cores.

Not only that, bringing Intel Quad Core power down to half of its current price could literally push us into the next stage of both graphics and normal computing power.

At some point around 05-08, Intel solely decided to stop pushing their power to the limit, we could have consumer cards in the 5g range right now if they had kept up their momentum for the last decade, they just decided the return wasn't worth the effort.

This will force Intel to push again. If Zen works we'll have double the power from Intel for the same price they are selling now in 4 years.

We aren't talking about $90 or $1000, we're talking about $200-$250 you fucking homo

Yea and I'm saying that I don't even think you'll be getting them yet. You might, but to me it appears AMD is targeting the price range of LGA 2011-3 first and releasing the consumer APUs later. These Ryzen CPUs don't have a GPU on the die, which makes them unable to compete with the low-mid range products of Intel.

So, realistically, how much money do I need to upgrade my shitty fx-6300 to the budget version of Zen CPU once it hits the market? I know I'll need a new mobo as well.

IF they release a 4c/8t at i5 prices - about $300-400

You'll need new RAM too, after all.

Immediately? Or in a month or in two years?

Immediately, it'll probably be no less than 225. In a month it'll depend on its receptions, it could stay the same, climb 10 bucks or so, or drop down to 170 or lower.

In two years, one way or another it will probably be around 155-60, if it really bombs maybe 100.

First of all, I doubt RYZEN will be less than $400 but that's beside the point. CPUs are not worth what they are being sold at currently. My point is that it's not just intel's high-end stuff but even the shitty AMD chips and intel's i3s are being sold at insane margins. You're a retard if you don't realize that.

No one has a clue. Amd is tight lipped because if they announce a price that allows Intel to play along and undercut them

Some rumors say the 4 core 8 thread is around 170 bucks

But that would mean an i7 at a cheap ass price if the ipc is similar

I expect it to be 200 bucks

The i5 6600k is already 230 bucks and that's 4 threads not 8

Around $200-$250 for the 4 core and 6 core Ryzen processors that will release around March. Those CPU's will most likely compete with the i5 6600K that you can get for around $200 today on sale. The Ryzen CPU's should future proof better than the i5 with the extra threads, but the single core performance or clock rates can suck again. The chips will be worth the buy for gaming if they can overclock past 4GHZ.

There won't be one Ryzen chip you doofus, that's the whole point. If you're talking about the 8 core/16 thread, I don't care. I want to see the competition space between the mainstream 4 core CPUs where they are at $175-$250 for Haswell-Skylake i5s. The Zen CPUs at 4 cores are what I want to see.

That's where AMD isn't saying anything about. They haven't said shit about the quad core. So far, they're only focused at the 8 core. Considering the 8 core chip runs at 3.4GHZ base and at 95W, the quad should run up to 4GHZ. And considering Intel threw AMD a bone and Kaby Lake is shit, AMD can catch up to their performance. They have a free year to catch up, the same way Nvidia is throwing AMD a bone and releasing a Pascal refresh, not Volta.

do retailers even listen to the mrsp?

The 470 was suppose to be 179 and its 200+ so you might as well grab a 480

This. I want i5 performance.

I see 470s regularly go down to ~$160, and sometimes even lower on good sales (there was one at $145 last week).

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137050

Not even $200.

I think AMD wants to go for the high-end market this time. They focused on the middle segment during this gen's GPU launch and nvidia stole the show, this time kaby lake is shit, so they at least want to steal the show from Intel. That's not what you do with a "we can do as good" quadcore, no matter how cheap it is.

AMD and their promises...

Retailers take as much as they can get away with.

I'm surprised nobody linked that weird commercial AMD made:

Okay... so basically everyone abandoned the "radeon rebellion", flyers/signs discarded everywhere, only one fucker still believes, and more drums are supposed to help?

>AMD
>red
>goes full-blown commie revolution
>100 years after October 1917
AMD for every comrade!

RX470 or RX480

it's meta

>"poor Volta"
>a million drums = no supply constraints this time

So you're saying this s some kind of
Infinite Amd works?

More like
>million drums - we're going to shill our garbage so hard you'll have no choice but to buy it

>buy a amd 480 rx
>get black screen of death after 1 day
just fuck my shit up.

>a million drums = no supply constraints this time

You sure? There's always constraints

You just know the first ryzen cpus will fly off the shelves and not be in stock for a couple of months

>Zen
>10x power of i7
Literally impossible

this needs an edit ending in a nazi rally

>AMD CPUs

>intel is jewish
>amd becomes nazi

...

how much do you guys think my my 480 will sell for when the 490 comes out.

190-200

two poos

>selling your GPU or CPU
>not OCing it to the max once you have enough money for new shit

>tfw spent $500 on a freesync monitor so now I'm stuck with AMD indefinitely

pls don't let me down AMD

i bought the blower style one, its noisy as fuck when i OC it

190-210 on the 8gb

Thing is vega won't have a rx 480 tier card since its gonna be 1070 tier or up

At least not initially if even

>i bought the blower style one
Why would you ever do that

how are amdfags this delusional. they bullshit so much about their cpus every time and they almost always suck. theyre peter molyneux tier

not bad considering i payed $229 for it

HHAHAHHAHAHAHA

I hope AMD will be back on its feet. I'd switch as soon as it's worth upgrading a 4790k.

Intel is a fucking disgrace. My current 4790k is just 17% faster than my old i5-2500k from 2011. The new i7-7700K is just 8% faster than my 2 year old 4790k.

good luck with that...

Because most of them are third world trash that HAVE to buy AMD because Nvidia GPUs cost as much as a home

Intel knows better than to release all their shit, only to get into crossfire because AMD's sinking and monopoly prevention kicks in.

S-Shut up...

>no fx-8350
>no fx-6350

Mostly because they're both just as shit as the listed counterparts.

They're the superior choice for gaming, if you want an AMD CPU. There's no point in not including them, unless you have an agenda.

Literally the only difference is price, and prices aren't even listed.

>Intel is a fucking disgrace. My current 4790k is just 17% faster than my old i5-2500k from 2011. The new i7-7700K is just 8% faster than my 2 year old 4790k.
whats the matter goyim, :^) don't like minimal upgrades for maximum pricing?

:^) :^) :^) :^) :^) :^) :^)

>Intel must have five years worth of research in their basement by now

You mean five years of their engineers telling them "we reached the limits in 2010, boss, what do we do now?" and be told "MAKE IT SMALLER" and "CRAM MORE OF THEM IN" in return by panicked managers.

For CPUs I have no hopes for a jump in performance over what Intel offers but at least price/performance ratio could be better.
The GPU on the other hand might be more interesting in the long run if more Vulkan and DX12 titles come out, though I also do not see immediate performance benefits that bring anything nVidia doesn't do.

That's what most people who don't fall for the hype think. Competition, not improvement.

This. The only thing helping amd is the limits of silicone

>bought an 17 5 years ago
>bought a 7970 5 years ago

>they still kick ass now

thank you value gods
