Edmund is a goddamn hack.
Sit for a moment and think of the crazy and neat stuff that could've been done with that idea.
You could've had it be a normal "fleshy" floor at first and then the walls start peeling in places, showing parts of bone, then it could've started happening to enemies, with new ones replacing the old ones that have bits missing or have the bosses face/head instead of their own etc. At the same time all the enemies and rooms are falling to bits you could've then incorporated what it seems like they've tried to, you start coming into rooms that have a lot of artwork and similarities from other floors 'melted' in with the flesh and bone from before, getting steadily more bizzarre and twisted as you get closer to the actual final fight. Hell, if they're so bent on having it be a sorta boss rush esque then do that, you start randomly running into bosses from other floors in the 'fake' boss rooms, only instead of dying once you get their health low enough they fall to piles of bone or something, revealing that they (just like the enemies and floor itself) are all just the Delirium. Fixing the fight itself would require a longer post than this, but maybe once you kill it, oh look, big gold chest like usual, you bump it expecting the run to end only it doesn't. It just flips open, empty. Isaac's failing mind now unable to keep up with how his own dying dellusions are supposed to work. As your character stands watching the empty, open final chest, maybe the room just gradually gets darker and darker until it's finally over. I don't doubt other people could come up with MUCH better ways to capitalise on the "Isaac's dying mind" thing than my shitty attempt, but the way they did it just reeks of so much fucking wasted potential. I'm genuinely glad I didn't give them money for this shit.
I'm kinda giddy to see what sort of damage control these popular let's players will say about it.

He doesn't deserve that shit. Maybe someone, specifically the Antibirth devs, can salvage the entirety of the Void/Delirium battle for a real proper finale for our guy Isaac.
