Is it better to not kill any single zombie?

Is it better to not kill any single zombie?

Morally? I suppose

Not really. Zombies can turn into Crimson heads even if you don't kill them. Imo, It's better to kill and burn zombies in the highest traffic hallways that you constant run through.

>Zombies can turn into Crimson heads even if you don't kill them

Is this real

Then what is the point wtf

fucking your shit up

Purposely done so you can't just abuse the zombies slow speed for the entire game.

the zombies get replaced with stronger enemies in a lot of areas in the late game anyway. Unless it's a burning head or you have shit ton of ammo it's not really ever worth killing imo (or if you have struggle with one avoiing one particular spawn)

>Zombies can turn into Crimson heads even if you don't kill them
Bullshit. Only scripted ones turn into crimson heads.

No, zombies which bodies you dont burn but just kill turns on crimson heads. Plus the scripted ones.

Yes, avoid as possibile. You dont have so much munitions unless you play on the easy difficult.

Or just use the incendiary glitch

just hallways and around save rooms

whats the dead with all the REmake threads lately? first one was "uhh if you like this game you are a loner fagot without taste" bla shit.

I never killed the zombie that attacks you when you first get the dagger in that little art room. The one where you push the chest in front of the doorway?

I just left him back there and pushed the chest back into place. I never killed him.

He was a crimson head about halfway through the run.

Steam sale probably.

All zombies are scripted so your point is moot. They can turn into CH without you killing them.

Are you sure? I've played this game a bunch, and the only mandatory crimson head seems to be the one before you get the armor key.

I've never seen this happen except for the scripted one and i've played REmake to death. But then again if what you way is true then by the time they have a chance to turn i've already despawned them and hunters are roaming the halls.

Do you have any proof?

>umbrella employed THAT MANY people to dress up like upper class tweed jacket wearing posers
>just a few bedrooms
>just ONE bathroom
>in a mansion that big

I understand that most live in employees were living in the recidencey area, but that whole Mansion was fucked for actually living in. Did local residents just think a bunch of posh homosexuals had regular 30 man parties there all in tweed jackets and chord trousers?

Play it again. Another anons in this thread had it happen to them too. If you're speeding though at a quick pace you might not see it happen, but if you take your time slowly, you'll see it.

>not even questionning the mansion full of puzzle and deathtraps

rethink your post for a moment

As someone who has finished the game multiple times since 2002 and has plat the PS4 version, i can tell you that the game does NOT take standard zombies and make them crimson heads without you (or something else) killing them first.

All the crimsons that you meet are either scripted (think the first one you should see, outside the library entrance that was already dead) or you made them that way.

If you want to test this theory, in the gallery to the right hand side of the main hall, you can trap a zombie behind a cabinet forever. If you do not kill him, he will NEVER become a crimson head, even in the latter stages of the game.

Be aware of this fun fact for all you "once again..." Anons, whilst YOU may not hurt forrest or risk his grenade vest exploding, it turns out other crimson heads can hurt him. I once somehow got in one room with forrest and TWO crimson heads, they meant to swipe for me, but forrest got in the way and... He went down. Just like a regular zombie can when they get in the way of a crimson head.

I don't even speed through it and it never happened. Even on my very very slow first ever playthrough so i'm calling bullshit till I see proof.

Don't forget George.

He's right, there is a certain point in the game where certain Zombies can become Crimson Heads, but its a fine point between the Mausoleum with the masks (where you see your first CH) and by the time you have Hunters spawn throughout the mansion.

Its a tiny window but it happens, usually you're just progressing so you don't see it as often as you would like. It happens in some places like the armor hallway, one or two zombies there whether you kill them or not will become CH. As an example.

Id like to think that for day to day movment with security and the right access, that the staff did not have to use all those counter measures.

But the zombie you can trap in the map room CAN become a CH. I've had it happen to me and another user specifically said in this thread it had happened to him.

Hmm... This requires more investigation... Maybe i blast too fast.

Look at the zombie laying on the floor in the hallway with the armor and mirror. He'll become a CH too.

That one is a lot easier since he always becomes a CH after you activate them.

I borrowed this from my friend in middle school and the crimson heads were too much for me. First time i saw one i got killed by it and I was too much of a pussy to keep playing. Glad I bought it and am playing through ot now though, it's a terrific game. Probably the best game in the entire series honestly.

He will ALWAYS become one. He is supposed to be an introduction.

The weirdest fucking one is the one found slumped in a fetal position at the bottom of the stairway before that room. He is actually part of the game because it can go invisible in invisible enemy mode, can be burnt, but he never becomes a CH and about half way, he is gone, apparently got up and wondered off.

ITT: try to type the sound a crimson head makes

>HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUhhhhhhghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Here is how Crimson Heads work.

Chris takes the most damage from them on average.
Rebecca takes the least damage from them by a little bit.
Jill is right in the middle, closer to Rebecca.

Not counting the Survival Knives or Barry's 44 Magnum, the shortest and fasted ways to kill them respectively are Handgun/Samurai Edge (Shortest) and Magnum Revolver/Self Defense Gun (Fastest).

Each zombie is assigned a rank at random for their revival time.

Rank 1 Easy: 60, 90, 100, 150 Minutes
Rank 2 Easy: 20, 45, 80, 100 Minutes
Rank 3 Normal: 15, 35, 70, 80 Minutes
Rank 4 Hard: 10, 20, 30, 60 Minutes
Rank 5 Hard: 5, 10, 20, 30 Minutes
Rank 6 Hard: 5, 10, 15 Minutes

Rank 6 Hard will always get up no later than 15 minutes.

Exploding the head or knees will always prevent a Crimson Head without needing to burn the body.

Whether they were killed or not prior, they will follow the above chart dependent on their randomly assigned rank. Barring one two preset Zombies which will always be CH.

The Crimson Head in the Crypt and the Crimson Head that lays on the ground in the Armor/Mirror Hallway.

i never take him out and just leave the display case where it be

never noticed him become a CH in my 8 hour run. then again i never went back in that little room ever in all my remake runs. just an ink ribbon yeah?

Correction, I meant Longest not Shortest when referring to the ways to kill them.

Not sure why I was using the term shortest.

oh yeah?

more info on that zombie thats interesting as fuck

anyone ever notice an extra zombie roaming around that wasnt there before?

>using a self defense gun or a magnum on anything but bosses

the fuck are you doing

>Chris takes the most damage from them on average.
>The main reason to use Chris goes out the window once a CH shows up

What's the point of using Chris, honestly?

He's part of the scenery actually, its a bug that he disappears. He's similar to the body in the kitchen by the elevator or the one next to the bee hive outside.

The Residence/Lab Zombie seems to be pure RNG from what I can tell, usually he doesn't come back or do anything, but there is the rare case where he will.
Testing purposes damage wise.

Slightly different story and interactions and basically the 'hard' mode.

Flash Grenades will also kill Crimson Heads outright if Chris is grabbed. Jill's Daggers will only reduce them to half health.

Its really only if they get bit.

Initial Bite Damage

Chris: 280, 350, 420, 490, 560
Jill: 240, 288, 336, 384
Rebecca: 212, 255, 297, 340

Its purely random which of those damages you'll get. However just getting hit by a CH will always be a flat damage value of 200.

>Whether they were killed or not prior, they will follow the above chart dependent on their randomly assigned rank.

Wait, so if I play on the highest difficulty, all zombies will be crimson heads after 15 minutes? Or am I reading this wrong?

Yes.

after you kill them as zombies

Would be difficult to suggest it is the same one, he was probably put there ro fuck with us, checking him does bring up the text "There's a corpse, collapsed on the floor like it was an instant death. What the hell happened in this mansion?"

But he is more than just decoration, as i say the game registers him as an actual zombie and invisibles him in invisible enemy mode.

He could be the same one that enters the kitchen or something, but exactly what triggers him to dissapear is unknown to me at this time.

Not entirely. The Ranks 4, 5, and 6 will be assigned randomly to all Zombies on the map, and from there its rolled again to determine how long said Zombie will take. Rank 6 being the rarest rank.

So for instance, lets say there are three zombies left in the Mansion.

One is Rank 4, one is Rank 5, and one is Rank 6.

The Rank 4 Zombie will then be rolled anywhere from 10, 20, 30, or 60 Minutes, a 25% obviously for all 4 of those. So he could turn anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.

The same is true for the rest, barring Rank 6 which has a 33.33% chance of his rolls. Rank 6 Zombies will always turn within 15 minutes, but its the rarest of the ranks. You'll typically see Rank 4 during Hard Mode, with a few scattered Rank 5s. Rank 6s seem to be anywhere from 1-5 Zombies total. Its not a high number from what I've gathered.

Their HP is rolled at random too, anywhere from 300-2600. Though the lower numbers are very rare, Usually they sit around 1200 on average. Which to give you a comparison for some things.

Chris' HP: 1400
Jill's HP: 960
Rebecca: Doesn't technically have an HP value as far as I'm aware. Her stuff is just pure random for whatever reason.

Shotgun Damage Values: Close Range: 1000, Mid Range: 666, Long Range: 500.

So a shotgun will typically take 2 shots to kill a Crimson head depending on distance, but could just take one shot depending on its health.

The flash grenades also work on the elder crimson head, Jill needs to do it properly.
