Why do people insist this is the best one again?

Because it's an actual ROG. Not a first person slasher w/ upgrade trees
>it's an actual RPG
Ftfm, fuckin phone
It has exponentially better lore and plot progression than any other game in the series, The world is unique, a complete joy to lose yourself in and learn about, and no other game in the series has as stark a difference between where you start and where you end up in terms of power. You really do feel like you start the game as some worthless schlub (tip, you're missing enemies because you built your character like shit and didn't listen to the NPCs when they told you straight out to avoid combat until you're better suited for it, you idiot) and the ultimate demigod who embodies every facet and more of the prophecy you assume your way into.
Basically, stop playing like a fucking idiot, get some quality of life mods, lose yourself in the world, FUCKING ASK QUESTIONS AND READ WHAT PEOPLE SAY and you won't go far wrong.
It had a few cool things going for it that they ditched in their later games.
Like how they didn't really have generic enemies. They didn't just make 10 bandits and randomly place them in dungeons. Characters had names and shit.
And loot in containers wasn't just the same leveled list bullshit everywhere. You ever notice how in FO4 every safe has the exact same stuff in it? That shit didn't happen in morrowind.
Stuff like that is why people like morrowind and they forget about how bad the gameplay was.

>combat is the fundamental part of all RPG's
Try Skyrim, it might suit your taste more.
I'm gonna interject here and say that I think it's little unfair to say that the gameplay as a whole was bad, it's the combat specifically I think that deserves to be criticised.
(though desu i had a lot of fun with it after getting a mod that let my cast spells/prepared items without having to switch to the ready magic position, juggling buffs and stuff for maximum efficacy)
FUCK YOU DWENMER PUZZLE BOX
What the fuck are you doing sitting there on the bottom shelf of some shelf full of garbage in some mundane room!
You're even at the back of the shelf.
You're an important item in the main quest!
Ain't no one can find your stupid ass!
You just look like some worthless dwenmer cup that weighs 5 kilotons and sells for 2 gold.
Fucking morrowind.
OH SORRY PARDON ME FOR THINKING MAYBE YOU SHOULD'VE LOOKED A LITTLE HARDER FOR SOMETHING AS SMALL AS A RUBIK'S CUBE IN A QUEST ABOUT RETRIEVING AN ARTIFACT FROM A DARK RUIN
DO YOU WANT SOME BIG QUEST MARKERS THAT SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHERE YOU SHOULD BE GOING TOO
WE CAN PUT ONE ON YOUR RADAR AND IN YOUR QUEST LOG IF YOU WANT, LET YOU SEE IT THROUGH WALLS SO YOU CAN LOOK AT YOUR RADAR AND FORGET THERE'S A GAME TO BE LOOKING AT
JUST BE IN A SENSIBLE PLACE WHERE YOU CAN BE FOUND
BE IN THE BOSS ROOM, OR THE MOST DIFFICULT ROOM TO REACH IN THE RUIN
BE SITTING ALONE SO YOU DON'T BLEND IN WITH JUNK
OR BE IN THE INVENTORY OF AN ENEMY
I'D RATHER HAVE A QUEST MARKER POINTING AT YOU THAN HAVE TO SEARCH FOR AN HOUR, GIVE UP, GOOGLE WHERE THE FUCK YOU ARE, AND FOLLOW SOME DIRECTIONS IN A GAMEFAQ
THIS ISN'T FUN GAMEPLAY
>Those Orc daedric worshippers in full Orchish that try to fist you to death
WHAT SENSE WOULD IT MAKE FOR A CHILD OR BORED PERSON LIVING IN AN ANCIENT CIVILIZATION TO OFFHANDEDLY PUT THEIR RUBIK'S CUBE IN THE MOST-THOROUGHLY GUARDED PLACE IN THE WHOLE TOWN
THEY'D TOSS THAT SHIT ON A NONDESCRIPT SHELF, MY DUDE
IT'S A CONFLICT OF WORLD DESIGN AND GAMEPLAY
though i will admit there probably was a better compromise that could've been struck somehow
SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE MOVED YOU SINCE THEN
THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE RUIN. ONE OF THEM COULD HAVE PICKED YOU UP. YOU COULD BE IN THEIR INVENTORY.
OR MAYBE THEY WERE SLOWLY SEARCHING THE RUIN AND PUTTING ALL THE GOOD STUFF IN THEIR MAIN ROOM. THE MAIN ROOM WHERE THE BOSS GUY IS. YOU COULD HAVE BEEN THERE BECAUSE THEY FOUND YOU AND MOVED YOU THERE.
I feel like this exchange sums up Morrowind very well.
Everything makes sense, but in the least fun way possible.
THESE ARE INTERESTING AND VALID COUNTERPOINTS, AND I FEEL YOU HAVE CONVINCED ME IN THIS BATTLE OF WITS
>loot in containers
Morrowind also has a ton of good loot OUTSIDE of containers. There's hidden and some not so hidden cool items all over the place, on shelves, behind other items, under pillows or tucked into corners. You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail even if a lot of the dungeons were very basic in design, it's also really cool when you find an NPC that holds a high position in something and they have shit laying around their house to reflect that, bunch of rich fucks on the island have rare bling they like to show off and if they're not wearing it it's probably in the same room as them somewhere.
OVER ENCUMBERED
guess you'll have to carry better weight per value items and not grab the trash, user
and also maybe consider scrolls of divine/almsivi intervention, or recall, or potions of strength or feather, you have options
At least if you level up agility it gets better, unlike dark souls where you swing a shield that goes through enemies, swing a sword that goes through enemies, and use a shield that can't stop enemy blows. Fucking rhythm game.
Yeha I'm just thinking back when I first played it and just picked up useless shit to sell
Yeah, understandable. It's a game that's a LOT more enjoyable when you get into it knowing what you're in for. I came back to it remembering the mechanics but having forgotten a lot of the lore, and that's probably why my most recent playthrough was so enjoyable. A few choice mods make all the difference between clunky RPG with great story under the surface and one of the finest roleplaying experiences in the genre.
You're a huge retard. Of course if your long blade is at 5, you'll never hit anything. Forget Skyrim. If you're bad with a weapon, you'll have to train A LOT to gain some proficiencies.
If you are playing RP, you'll make for example a stealth bosmer with the right skills, and your bow will start at 40-50 and you'll hit the enemy almost always. And a few hour into the game, you'll never miss. Actually, as soon as your skill is at least at 60.
AND FATIGUE. WITH LOW FATIGUE YOU'LL MISS A LOT. Even with high skills.
Idiot.
