So Idlemaster is officially dead

So Idlemaster is officially dead.

How are you getting your steam cards now, Sup Forums?

wai why is it dead?

api changes, can't read the badge page anymore.

I don't care about cancer shit.

>How are you getting your steam cards now
my what?
for what?

by playing them, retarded i konow.

you play steam cards?

pcucks LMFAO

>Steam Cards

Real wealth, 11 cents at a time.

by using any of the other card farming apps? its not like Idle Master is the only one.

You know what, that would be a cool idea. playing a Meta multiplayer game with the steam cards.

The point of the thread, children, is trying to figure out why you're wasting time on them.

it's the best one.

you stick it to steam by getting a back a fraction of a dime at a time.

bitch i dont give a remote fuck about steam cards or being the type of faggot that idles

you buy cheap stattrak skins on CSGO for less than 90 cents and then just sit on them till the next sale. go look at them and i guarantee you will profit nicely

i did that for the christmas sale and had 13 bucks on wallet

>apps

Takes a bit of effort but you could get free wallets from sales events cards

Yeah but what about indieshit keys I got on Sup Forums?

What do you actually do with Steam cards? Can you get free shit with them? I have a few from playing TF2 and buying stuff in the sales but have no idea what they're even for.

i just use SAM like all the other times

What's the point of farming these cards? Do you sell them or turn them into badges? Doesn't doing this make you gain hours on the game it's farming? If so, wouldn't this cause your hours to achievements ratio to be skewed (having a bunch of hours but no achievements earned)?

because it lets you get cards to sell? I probably got 20-25 dollars of card sales so far, for almost no effort.

it isn't.

>i did that for the christmas sale and had 13 bucks on wallet
do you know your lifetime is a scarce resource?
13 bucks lawl

Proof of concept that you don't even have to use a game to set up a functioning Microtransaction system.

why do hear about this tool only when it's already dead

You can make steam badges with them. Badges can be displayed on your profile and also gives you steam emotes and backgrounds.
Or you can sell them to other people for like 10 cent each and possibly buy games with the money you made.

just use an achievement unlocker lol

>your hours to achievements ratio to be skewed
Who cares?

It's more time efficient to suck cock in an alleyway and buy a steam card from a 7-11

so this..... is the power.... of pc gaming.....

>pcucks are literally this poor

I wanna make fun of people doing this but back in the day I idled for hats in TF2 as well so whatever.

>You can make steam badges!
>Decorate your profile and show it off to all your friends!
>Special emoticons and backgrounds so you can let your true colours shine through!

That's fucking pathetic, nobody looks at your steam profile so who gives a shit?

> I idled for hats in TF2

You are the worst type of person

yeah but considering that was with 4 skins i spent a little over two bucks on 6 months im not complaining. you just buy some skins during a new event when they're worth jack shit and then just wait for them to become less common

but it takes more effort.

to farm cards all I did was turn on the program and login and just let it run while I go do other stuff like go to classes, watch a movie or play video games.

no one honestly cares about it and steam hasnt really built on it in years.

the cards are really just to add more shit to sell on steam so valve makes a million pennies a minute

What's the strategy to get more cards? Just wait for shitty indie bundles?

I don't know man, 11 cents an hour is still pathetic. Honestly anything else would be a better use of your time than even selling the cards off, one by one.

>used tf2/cs:go idling servers and steam cards to build up shitty steam wallet wealth and buy games lower than 10€ on sales
>get a job
>toss everything steam inventory related and just enjoy paying for shit other than steam games

i was a literal NEET for years but managed to get a job, feels good man.

Tfw you made a few hundred dollars idling tf2 on 30+ accounts once a week.

github.com/jshackles/idle_master/pull/197

Meh. Just compile from that fork if you need a fix right now.

I used it just the other day. yeah it can't tell when cards drop anymore but it can still idle and get them for you, it just doesn't know when it's done

By just opening the Launcher...?

11 cents an hour for doing nothing. what exactly are you losing? all it takes is a few seconds of setup time and you're set.

even the selling part can be automated so theres zero effort involved. you're not gonna make any real money off it but you can maybe get a free game off those cards so why not?

Well your mom is paying more for the electricity you use up in that time.

>why not

Better things to do.

Beat me to it, damn you user!

>it is hard to leave a game open and idling for 2 hours

Objectively.

Because setting that up isn't worth the chance at "maybe a free game". I'm not willing to do ANYTHING for "maybe a free game". Let me know when one of these programs can get me $10,000/month on one account with me doing nothing.

poorfag gonna fag

ASF

there's a much easier way to get free games that doesn't involve installing a bunch of games you have no intention of playing.

Is this like cheevos?

>Well your mom is paying more for the electricity you use up in that time.
I work to support myself, and I live on my own. so I am the one paying that electrical bill. and I'll pay the electric bill eitherway since I did it while using the computer for other things.

>Better things to do.
it takes longer to find good porn that to turn on the card farmer, but ok. if those few seconds are really that valuable.

not a chance, its directly tied to how many untapped cards you have. if you dont have many cards, you dont have a chance at a free game, if you do have many cards you will get a free game - its as simple as that.

its not meant to give you a passive income, if you want that go into the real estate business.

you dont even need to install those games to farm them.

>I used it just the other day
it stopped working today.

Still working on my machine

oh. well then. guess I made it just in time

i literally don't understand how to navigate that fucking site.

>You can make steam badges!
>Decorate your profile and show it off to all your friends!
>Special emoticons and backgrounds so you can let your true colours shine through!
>That's fucking pathetic, nobody looks at your steam profile so who gives a shit?
Gamer facebook never was about video games.
Like every social network it's about attentionwhoring, paying for DLCs you never play and amassing faked virtual shit by wasting electricity.
ITT someone is proud, he "made" 25 dollars by wasting electricity worth 25 dollars.
Steam is full of literal retards.

if you cant even navigate github, then how do you expect to compile from that fork?

>I work to support myself, and I live on my own. so I am the one paying that electrical bill.

Nah user, you'll never ever convince us that you are a working adult with dispensable income in abundance that farms steam cards for an allowance.

I don't.

>he didn't switch to archi steam farm

you do it and upload it ;^)

I've never used steam trading cards system, but it seems like there's a real easy fix.
>Open game
>Shift-tab
>Windows key, brings you back to desktop without closing game
>Go to Volume Mixer and mute game sound
>Leave until all cards dropped
>repeat
Or you could just get good at trading cards ? Choose a couple expensive cards to mark, buy them low and sell them high. A couple of pence a day, sure, but at least you don't have to waste money on games you're not gonna play just for the cards.

>dispensable income in abundance
I dont have dispensable income in abundance. I do have a job but its part-time student job and most of my paycheck going to my tuition and bills.
>that farms steam cards for an allowance.
every little helps. especially when its takes no effort.

pirating takes even less effort and gets you free games exactly when you want them instead of having to save up pennies for a month to maybe buy some indie trash on sale.

You can get a few pennies and craft badges. Badges do some useless shit like rhat other user said, but they also give you exp and leveling your steam account gives you coupons.

just browsed the steam group and a fix is already up

By playing the games I actually paid for you turboautist

>needs minimal investment since you need games
>constantly burns money, especially if now you actually have to run the games properly
>this thread is the very proof that it takes more than nothing

The only situation where this makes sense is if you are a teen at home, feel free to tell me how that is not your situation - but it just makes it sadder.

by playing the game itself? what, i'm so confused

They'd rather peddle pennies into Valve's pockets than be amoral like that though.

>This market listing will appear in two weeks
>Speed it up by getting our mobile spyware :)

SAM is for achievements not cards

SAM still "launches" the game, so you can idle that way too

>pirating takes even less effort
why do you assume I dont pirate? I always pirate first to try the game. if I like it I'd like to support the developer when possible.
> instead of having to save up pennies
again, doesn't cost me anything so I dont mind. zero effort.
>a month to maybe buy some indie trash on sale.
I never buy games for cards. only if theres a bundle I want I use it to clear out the cards from the games I dont care about.

But who didn't back in the day?
>not getting free games every few weeks for having TF2 running in text mode in the background

>I never buy games for cards
learn to read, retard. I never said you did.

>there's a third party software that helps your farm cards
>there's a third party software that helps you get cheevos
>there's still not a third party software that locally changes the names of your steam games such as getting rid of trademarks and other shit because I have major fucking autism holy shit

pathetic

>buy Japanese game
>all caps

tf2-shit actually could be used in the game.
cards have no point other than being traded.

;)

Fucking EDF4.1 holy shit

So can I literally just launch a game and leave it at the main menu and get all the cards that way? Is that what Idle Master does? I thought it did something extra, since just letting the game run without input didn't get you cards (or something like that).

Download ArchiSteamFarm faggots. It was made to be a replacement for Idlemaster quite a while ago, and works fine.

>mfw weeb games have the most expensive cards
I wonder why.
Also, if you don't own at least one foil badge, you shouldn't be allowed to talk about trading cards. Go be a casual elsewhere.

How? Every card I've gotten is worth like 9 cents

that shit should be a fucking felony

yeah like I'm gonna type my password into that sketchy shit

You can see the code on GitHub, but I guess you don't even know what that means.

wow I bet you're an uber hacker bro I'm jealous

>Idlemaster is officially dead
What? I'm literally using it right now and it's running fine.

look if you're not yelling EARTH DEFENSE FORCE you're not saying it right

...

this was the first time I ever made a steam tag and I've never un-collapsed it, holy shit

I actually like the emotes thing. Got enough smug anime emotes that I'll never use the same one twice.

>have level 50 steam profile
>never get boosters
