Psycho Wand had a 1/1497966 drop rate in the Dreamcast version of Phantasy Star Online.
>enemy doesn't normally appear
>has to be called by an enemy that also has a low chance to appear
>the call chance is low and the enemy has an even lower chance to appear when called
Fuck you Pokemon, the SOS mechanic is fucking stupid
>Need to weaken an enemy without killing it for whatever reason
>Get a crit
The drops in that game are fucked. Shit's harder than winning the fucking lottery.
>rare item drop
>stats are random
>the drop gets outclassed by almost everything
>drop only works for bragging
I always wonder what it would have been like if people couldn't cheat and hack/dupe items. It would have been crazy to see someone with a Psycho Wand or Lavis Cannon.
this shit happens alot
Metal Slimes?
Only if you were using the wrong section ID.
>Want the item bad
>Hang out grinding until you get it
>End up being like twenty levels higher than you should be at that point in the game
Sword of Kings.
According to PSO World at least, only Pinkal and Viridia could find it, both at that rate.
With very few exceptions, uber-rares in PSO were almost universally worse than much more common items. They were just there for novelty and bragging rights.
>item has a 1% drop rate from a specific chest
>said chest has a 1% spawn rate
>said chest has a 1% chance that if it spawns, said chest will contain the item and not a worthless amount of money

Guess the game.
Ah, in Dreamcast. My mistake, I instinctively default to GC/BB drop tables out of habit.
Literally Ragnarok Online and those fucking cards.

Fucking LET IT DIE
>rare chance at drop
>entire playerbase on console or PC can beat the enemy that drops it
>you're fucked if you don't play it
This is a fairly recent one. I stopped playing this game.
Guess the fucking garbage game.
Diablo 2
shouldn't have opened those other chests you non-zodiac-spear-having pissboy ;)
I came here to post this.
God bless Ragnarök Online.
But I already got the Zodiac Spear from the Hunt Club, I just wanted a second one.
>No PSO HD
Sad times
>Need to weaken an enemy without killing it for whatever reason
>Get a crit
>TFW have a high crit chance build
While that does suck, at least it happens fairly late in the game so it's not as much of an annoyance as it could be. That on top of the big level gains from completing the last Sanctuary really makes for being ridiculously high leveled at the end
>you need to perform a specific action in order to drop a rare item
>you also have to use a specific weapon with a specific attribute
>the said weapon is only available after you beat the enemy that drop rare item
>Item drops the first time and you assume it is common
>You later find out it is extremely rare.
The division?

Guess again. It's multiplayer.

Jeez I have no clue, I thought you were talking about that chest piece.
Yep
>item is a rare drop
>enemy you get it from doesn't respawn
>you git it on your first try and first playthrough
>Rare item drop chance is below 1%
>The enemy dropping it hides behind 8 bosses
>Take most people several weeks, if not months of tries to get past the 8 bosses
>That is assuming they finish it at all
What game does this?
>item is a rare drop
>it comes from an enemy that is removed from the game due to an update
>this went on for literally a month
>tfw you get symbol of avarice early in a playthrough
I know that feeling
I rocked the Jew mask for my entire run

yo senpai what is up with dis niggas tiny ass face and his sixhead?? lmao
fucking terraria
i just want my goddam last prism
Warframe.
I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean by "you're fucked if you don't play it"
>Seasonal events has rare item drops
Fuck you FFXIV Yokai.
Only had time to get three weapons.
>enemy has a 20% drop chance for an item
>still had to get to it and kill it over 50 times for that item to drop
>Can collect items on the overworld
>respawn after an amount of time
>respawn times differ per item, per playthrough
>can have highlevel resources thrown at you the entire game
>but also need to wait 6 hours of NON-INTERUPTED being-on, to get shitty stuff you need lots of
Fuck you dq9, making me farm weeks for a bunch of fucking brighten rocks and evencloths ;_;
>game has promotional event items
>get into game late after everythings over
>no chance for ever getting items
>rare weapon drops from a rare enemy
>rare enemy also requires max level in a difficult skill to kill it
>the weapon is actually worse than a much more common item now due to combat rebalancing
>rare item drop chance is below 1%
>have to make it spawn during night time
>despawns immediately in the morning
Timed even on both console and PC.
If you literally don't get there early, the entire playerbase on console OR PC (whichever one you're playing in) beats the enemy, making it impossible to get the RNG drop that is a RARE DROP at that
Fucking garbage game. Never again.
Ohhhh you're talking about the fucking Acolytes.
Yeah, those guys were annoying, but you're making it sound a lot worse than it was. They took a few days each to kill from what I remember, and it's a recurring event, too. It's happened twice so far.
Yeah I thought about saying Warframe but it's like 4 years old at this point, not really recent. I played for a bit on Xbox but stopped when they put in the new relic system. It's not as fun to grind for parts anymore.
>Enemy has a common drop but is a rare spawn and you have to kill placeholders that spawn in his place and fight players over him
>This is just the first part, next you need to go to a completely unrelated zone and farm the entire zone until you get a weapon to drop. The zone is dangerous even if you're ridiculous higher level because of fake floor traps, and if you fall you'll start aggroing large numbers of enemies if you're not careful. And if you're a caster that's never fun. Also this weapon will disappear when you log off the game or lose connection so wait until the end to do it.Traveling to here and back to where you need to go will take a few hours.
>You need a lot of gold too. Gold is heavy too.
>While carrying that item that will disappear when you log off, the drop off the rare spawn, and 3000 gold that is slowing you down you must travel to a far away place and give it all to a gnome running at mach 10 in a circle. Except he is a rare spawn that only has a chance to spawn every 8 hours after a placeholder creature for him is killed. That creature is also max level and will fuck you up. So you have to spawn him, then get all those items, and catch up to him as he's moving too fast and not aggro other monsters in the area unless you can handle them while you do it. Probably by waiting for the gnome to run around the bend and spamming hails at him to make him stop. Then give the items to him.
Congratulations, you now have a pair of shoes.
>game requires upgrade materials
>need millions or even billions of material for one upgrade
>only way to get it is by picking them up by the 10,000s at a time
>all farming has been patched out
>once you get the materials you have to wait in-game for it to be processed
>doesn't process if you just leave it on, production will slow down to a crawl if inactive
>have to actually be playing the game to process
>it processes it at a couple thousand a time
Boy MGSV was fun. I liked the part where it takes hours of running around an empty world so my base can afford 5 more bunkbeds.
Yeah it's fucking boring as fuck now. All my friends stopped playing it. One was even a guild leader, too.
After you get everything, there's really nothing else to do.
They recently introduced a sort of Endless Fissure Mode.
Instead of needing to extract after 5 Waves of Defense on a Fissure mission, you can choose another Relic and go to Wave 10, but with a 25% Affinity booster. After Wave 10, you get a 25% Credit booster, after 15 you get a 25% Resource booster, and so on and so forth.
It's pretty great, especially since they jump to 50% boosters later.
game? that sounds hilarious to watch a stream of
>after you finish the game, there's nothing to do
They just recently added a new quest called The War Within that is actually pretty good for what its worth.
>finally grinded all the items to make the best sets and weapons
>feel empty
>never played the game ever again
EverQuest. The live servers have been ridiculously dumbed down. You'd have to watch people play Project 99 for something close to the original experience but still not spot on.
Originally it was on DIALUP internet for everyone too. SO if you lost connection because of dial up on the last step you had to waste hours going back for another rapier.
>Rare item
>best equipment for certain character
>less than 0.1% chance
>on an enemy that only spawns in one dungeon
>and disappears after you beat the boss
Thank god for savestates.
Bonus points if you guess the game.
Put more succinctly, why Dark Souls 2 was a bad game.
It's pointless bullshit unless there's some secret boss.
I'm still getting shit set up on FF 4 on the DS.
Demon's, DaS2 and DaS3 suffer from covenant required achievements. Dark Souls 1 didn't have any where you needed to grind do fucking rank 3 in almost all covenants to get a shit item so you could get the achievement.
FUCK
Castlevania DoS those fucking Iron Golems and the valmanway
I have two friends that still play so I've heard about this but it's more about getting the relics to begin with and then the traces to refine them than the missions to open them.
I liked the keys because you could get multiple drops just one if you had good stuff and you could share them without having to input. Sure you can increase the chances of a specific drop now, but in my experience the effort is wasted more often than not.
Theres a covenant that makes enemies spawn forever.
Agreed.
>0.1% chance to get a drop from an enemy that has a 0.1% chance to spawn
>Its the coolest weapon
Fucking borderlands
Yeah, I get what you mean.
It takes a little more work, but your chances of actually getting what you want are much easier.
Before, you had to go to 20 Waves of T4 Defense just to get one chance of getting whatever rare item you wanted.
Now, if there's an Axi Fissure on a Capture mission, you can get four boosted chances at the rare item you want in just a few minutes.
>got 3 titanite shards from all 3 of those balder knights in that room in undead parish below the channeler
>8% drop rate
this is what i have left to grind out in DaS3. Shit's not fun or challenging. Just annoying
>playing some shitty isometric mmo back in the day
>Thinking about farming for a rare ring
>1/150, oh that's not bad.
>The mob has four spawns that take five minuted to respawn each
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE.
>The ring actually only drop from the rare mob version of the normals
>The rare mob has a 1.500 chance to spawn
>It works on a day/night cycle and will only spawn at night
>The cycle is based on real life time meaning I would need to be up at fucking 2 am to farm it.
And to top it off the mobs have a fucking stat/level drain that can only be removed via gold at town. Fuck that bullshit.
>Final boss drops multiple different endgame weapons
>Have to kill him multiple times to get them
>Once you have them all, you have nothing to use them on, because you already have all of the final bosses drops, and there's nothing beyond that
>PVP is active at all times on enemy spawn locations
>wars over who gets to camp the enemy spawn.
The Pursuer - Dark Souls 2
>item from raid boss has a 0.01% drop rate
>devs announce rare drop boost for a limited time
>check drop rates again
>0.02%
god i hate MMOs
>farming dorkskulls for twink tit nites

oh ok
