About to buy a ps3 with uncharted and last of us.
What are some other interesting/fun single player games to pick up?

It's cheap, games are selling for cheap, and I'm too heavily into video games, just looking for something cheap and fun for when I get home from work.

Np friendo. The Uncharted series is really fun but Uncharyed 2 is definitely the best one. If I was to rank them personally it would be 2 > 4 > 3 > 1.
There are tons of good games for the PS3 but you gotta do some digging yourself. I don't know what type of games you like so I just threw some of there. Could prob give you more if I get more info.
Currently playing bf4 on my pc every odd evening, I don't see myself playing any fps games with a controller any time soon though. Games like last of us and uncharted really interested me when I played them at a mates house. I didn't mind tekkan but not the biggest fan.
Would have been so happy if Dissidia was ported to ps3.
Also, any reason to avoid the ps3 super slim? Have a friend who gave me a weird reaction when I brought it up and I can't tell if he's fucking with me
No reason that I know of really, the super slim should be fine.
Now that you mention PC though, I would recommend grabbing Valkyrua Chronicles on that instead, it's the better version IMO.
Resistance is a real nice FPS series if you can stomach console FPS. If you only played one however, 3 was really nice.
Heavy Rain was kind of retarded but it's honestly the best game David Cage has put out.
If you haven't played it yet Telltale's The Walking Dead is really fucking good, if you like the whole story driven barely any gameplay thing.

Why the fuck is Nier so expensive? It seems like I could get a burger copy for pretty cheap (around $30) but it's always $20 for shipping and $10 import fees.

I played all the original Uncharted games on the PS3, but I've been replaying them right now on the PS4 remaster and I've gotta say that the remaster is the way to go. If you have a PS4, then make sure you get the remaster pack.
then you move to uc4 and you're back to 30fps again
