Death Stranding is going to be the final nail in Kojima's coffin...

Death Stranding is going to be the final nail in Kojima's coffin. This time around the general public will realize just how much of a hack he is.

Just think about it, we already know about 3 actors that are going to "star" in the game before we have seen even a second of gameplay. Seriously think about what this means for allocation of resources, Kojima is already blowing money on the actors and motion capture sessions when the game probably hasn't even reached an alpha state yet. It's fucking retarded. And let's not even get into how silly it is to use real life actors in video games.

All Kojima is good at these days is drumming up hype and that's it. The game will look amazing in trailers but end up being disappointing piece of shit.

NEVER

Death Stranding is going to sell well on hype alone. You know this will happen. And you will cry knowing nothing you can do will change this.

I never argued that it wouldn't sell well, of course it will but it's going to be shit.

All these "actors" are probably going to die very early in the game or barely appear at all.

Typical Kojima subversion of expectations.

I agree, at least the PC version might have mods to fix it.

HERE'S YOUR (YOU) FAGGOTS

DEATH STRANDING WILL LITERALLY BE THE LORD SAVIOR OF VIDEO GAMES USHERING IN A NEW ERA OF VISUAL ENTERTAINMENT, SPEARHEADED BY THE ALLMIGHTY PAPA BLESS HIDEO KOJESUS, FINALLY BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN ART AND VIDEO GAMES

HAIL

HAIL

HAIL & KILL

Kojimer just wants to feel like a movie maker, nothing more.

Holy shit, we get it, Sup Forums developed a hate boner for Kojima because metal gear became normie. Well guess what, OP. Death stranding is going to be the best fucking game ever and none of you can stop me from making it! Not you, Not Konami, fucking NOBODY!

>tfw can't tell if this post is being facetious or im just getting old and need to move away from this place

it's definitely the latter.

Snatcher was great
Policenauts was fucking fantastic
Zone of the Enders was great
And the Metal Gear Series is GOAT

I have hope it will be a good game

definitely

now get the fuck out

He hasn't made anything good in the past decade.

>Death Stranding is going to be the final nail in Kojima's coffin. This time around the general public will realize just how much of a hack he is.

Would you prefer he writes a story about lesbians and emotions?

that actually would have a story, unlike what he shat out in the last years and will be shitting out in the coming years.

>Would you prefer he writes a story about lesbians and emotions?

Kojima's writing is actually fucking terrible.

You can cite Policenauts and Zone of the Enders and shit, but at the end of the day:

He's worked on Metal Gear for the past 10 years

MGS1's story was toned back. It had elements of ridiculousness but was relatively tame.

MGS2 stared to get ridiculous. MGS3 felt more toned back but still ridiculous.

4, Peacewalker and 5 went totally off the fucking rails. To the point of their stories being completely irredeemable.

If you think Kojima is actually capable of making a good story, you need to get your head examined.

He writes good setpieces and that's all i really want out of video games

Alright, Hideki, we get that you backed the wrong horse but you have no one to blame but yourself.

Kamiya just because you are close to suicide and they cancelled your dream game because you are a hack doesn't mean you have to hate on superior jap devs, its ok you will meet scalebound in the afterlife :^)

Didn't The Phantom Pain break even within the first week of release?

First day.

>And let's not even get into how silly it is to use real life actors in video games.
Worked great for Until Dawn, and I think it uses the same engine? Looks amazing, really, and Death Stranding trailers look amazing facial animation wise, too.

What about No Man's Sky? That sold really well, too. Does that mean it's good?

>Its another "Its a ps3 exclusive so it'll be shit" thread

15 hours of cutscenes. I'll just watch it on youtube.

The media loves games like heavy Rain / beyond because muh cinematic, adult experience.

The consumer will hate it. The media will praise it.

>This time around the general public will realize just how much of a hack he is.
it hasn't happened for like 10 metal gear solid games, why would it happen now

It seemed that the more control he got on a game, the less awesome it gets.

And now he got ABSOLUTE control on Death Stranding. I'll be surprised if the game succeeds.

>score: 8.5
>user score: 4.9

Kojima games are always fun to play with some neat gimmicks and gags so nothing is going to happen except maybe we get a game with a dumb story but ridiculously humorous game sequences.

>ITT: i can be contrarian on the internet!

you are literally of sub-par intellect if you think this game is going to flop, like only a genuine retarded person would see the hype surrounding it and think LOLOL INCOMING BLUNDER KOJIMBO ON LE SUICIDE WATCH XDDD

will it be the best game ever? who the fuck knows

will it print money? you better fuckin believe it senpai

Death Stranding is using the engine for Horizon. That's why he's been Horizon posting on twitter lately. They even did that panel at Playstation Experience talking about how KojiPro is co-developing the engine updates.

What the fuck is wrong with you? Why are so many people here arguing that it will sell well when OP said literally nothing about that?

The game will be complete garbage and Sup Forums will love it because it's kojimbo.

Kojima fanboys circuiting.

>will it print money?
No doubt about that. Sony managed to hyped the fuck out of NMS and make tons of money in the end.

But then again, Kojima production budget is vastly astronomically more than Hello Games so it remains to be seen if they could recoup the investment.

It's going to get cancelled.

>final nail in his coffin
>implying the game won't sell well enough to fund future development

technically speaking, his loss of financial backing or sudden inability to develop games as a result of one in his "resume" being so awful that nobody wants to touch his work anymore would be the only realistic "nail in the coffin", if you think publishers give two fucks about what the buyer thinks regarding a game's content, you are 100% mental

to them, if it sells well, it's a hit, if it's a hit, he continues to develop, end of story

i would direct your attention to the past decade(s) of recycled, rehashed games and series, some of which have incredibly vocal fanbases that have also seen releases which were complete abominations, but sold on merit (or recognition, if you like) and the developers behind them weren't shelved, to say nothing of the franchises themselves

it's just how shit works user, it can't be helped

also, OP knew full well his intent when he started this thread, don't be willfully ignorant on his behalf because you're unwilling to read between the lines, as he likely predicted

>circuiting
What? Circling around a place?

This.
It will sell well and lead to him making more games.
It may even get a sequel.

>if it sells well, it's a hit, if it's a hit, he continues to develop, end of story

Yeah because that's how it worked last time. Oh wait...

>It will sell well and lead to him making more games.

that's my main point, and it will probably be overlooked
what last time? are you implying that TPP not selling well was the cause of his parting ways with konami? because that would be wrong

elaborate senpai, we can be civil

? MGSV is objectively good. Story, not so much but the gameplay is solid. NMS on the other hand is just a pile of hot garbage.

You really cant compare the two tbqh

> The game will be a complete masterpiece and Sup Forums will hate it because it's exclusive

Fixed that for you.

agree, it's almost 10/10 in the gameplay department, especially as stealth titles are concerned

the story though, i've never felt so conned in my life, especially factoring in all the trailers and shit leading up to release

you feel it too, don't you

>OP says the game is going to be shit and criticizes the way it's handled in valid ways.
>"B-b-but it will sell well!"

What kind of shit argument is that? Like what the fuck, since when are sales an indicator of quality in this industry?

OP, your post stinks of someone who is desperate for video games to stay the exact same.

Hideo Kojima is obviously interested in trying new things with them, so he's going all-out crazy with something like Death Stranding.

Why does it matter if its even a traditional "video game"? You don't have to buy it, and plenty of those still exist out there.

Just wait for it to come out before shitposting your heart out.

they aren't to the person buying the game normies aside but to the publisher or backer, it's everything- they do not give a fuck about the game's quality for the most part, they aren't playing it user, they're selling it

i'm like a fucking broken record here but let me make it a little more simple for you: THEY ARE CONCERNED WITH THE NUMBERS, AND ONLY THE NUMBERS

kojima produces high numbers because he has incredible name recognition within the industry, as far as sony is concerned, it's already cash in hand, it would take an act of god or some shit for this game to flop

What is the standard of quality then? If people buy it, they probably wanted to give it a chance. The reaction post-sale matters most, but the initial sale matters as well.

People are not aware of the existence of the majority of games. Ads = sales.

who are you quoting? why aren't you addressing the person who made the argument?

do you really just want to shitpost back and forth? because i'd oblige you any other time, but i thought you were interested in a sincere discussion and i'm starting to think i was wrong

What the fuck?

NOBODY IS ARGUING THAT IT WON'T SELL!

OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO SELL A TON

BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE GAME WILL BE GOOD

>he underestimates Sony's marketing ability

Lmao this is the same company that got millions to buy No Content Sky and then threw the developer under the bus.

Kojima's game will be far more popular.

are you dense? OP was arguing that it would be the end of kojima's career in development because it would be garbage

the counter to that, is that it could be absolutely 100% trash and would have little to no effect on his ability to continue developing games, as long as it sells well: we all seem to be in agreement that it's going to get massive sales, thus it won't be the final nail in his coffin, as OP claims

this is not difficult to understand, you don't have to use caps and sperg out over it, stop being booty bothered and relax, jesus

Policenauts was fucking dreadful, every terrible Kojima habit in one game

The public in general realized he was a hack when MGS4 was released. I don't know why people forgot that lesson so painfully learned.

>OP was arguing that it would be the end of kojima's career in development

For some reason I can't find anything about that in the OP. All it says is that people will realize he's a hack, which means a shit writer, in case you don't know.

>totally off the fucking rails
Ain't that the point?

Suddenly I'd go for an MGR sequel where Raiden goes against Kojima's giant floating head.

He is missing a point I thought he'd figured a long time ago.
Why bother with movies when you can make a story so overly interactive in a video game?
If he really wants to make a movie, he could get those order 1886 hacks

>final nail in his coffin

..just what do you think that means? as long as i've known, it's been a phrase often used to describe the end of something, and with the subject, there aren't that many things it could be referring to aside from his career as a developer, but you're welcome to share your own interpretations if you'd like, i'm interested to hear them for sure

or you could opt to explain how being a shit writer would in any way be the final nail in his coffin, to continue using OP's phrasing, because i don't see what effect that would have aside from perhaps a small portion of his fanbase who are capable of critical thinking realizing he's not all he's hyped up to be, and possibly avoiding future kojipro titles, but other than that minor infraction, i wouldn't really go so far as to use a phrase with that kind of finality attached to it to describe such a thing

There's no point in being off the rails, trying to sell a mystery

When the punchline is nanomachines all the fucking time.

Snacher was a better game than Policenauts.

Dear OP, unless you have somehow discovered a method to time-travel, I don't think you can say that it's gonna suck 100%.

Also about the gameplay thing, Kojimbo has allway been pretty secretive about his games. I mean, before MGSV was announced he had already presented the project under a fake name and company. Also we had to wait quite some time before he started showing gameplay, and this was in a proyect he had much less control over than the other MGS games.
