What video games make you feel like you're going on an adventure?
What video games make you feel like you're going on an adventure?
final fantasy 9
farcry 2
morrowind
Unironically Souls games.
More light-hearted adventures - what said. Also Okami.
Breath of the Wild
Any Elder Scrolls
They're all good in different ways
Morrowind
Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
Terranigma
Warband
Dragon Quest 8
I think the two Lunar games (Lunar: Silver Star Story; Lunar: Eternal Blue) are pretty good for this. JRPGs on Sega CD with remakes on the PS1.
ocarina of time
breath of fire 2
terranigma
soul hackers
okami
Grandia 1
starting a new character on a vanilla wow server
Kingdoms of amalur, I don't understand why this game has such a hold on me.
Grandia 1 is the best Adventure.
>game that you know so well you could navigate it blindfolded
>adventure
SotC
Starting my character when WoW originally came out probably came closest to an adventure. I don't think many games achieve that feeling you get the first time you enter Ironforge or see Thunder Bluff in the distance.
Final Fantasy XV
Dragon's Dogma
Witcher 3
Kingdoms of Amalur
The STALKER series hit that note for me all the time. Probably has something to do with the vagueness of the objective directions and the inherent randomness of the Zone.
SKIES OF ARCADIA
The Baldur's Gate series.
TW3
skies of arcadia
tales of symphonia
Only two games have ever given me that feeling and thats The Witcher 3 and Dragon Quest VIII.
Dungeon siege
That feels more like a torture
Kingdoms of Amalur is the epitome of mediocore game.
Use your imagination
Is going for a quest is the same as going for adventure?
dragon age origins did that
Recently Ys 8 I guess
fuck yeah, i remember when i was a little shit and played dungeon siege for the first time. the fucking music at the beginning makes it so epic.
being 12 playing runescape for the first time
or any mmo online for the first time
you will never experience it again
This
Mother 3
Okami
This image always captivated my imagination as a child.
Mini Ninja
Dragon Quest VIII made me feel like I was going on an adventure and the only people capable of joining me were the people I hated most in the world.
...
Tales of Symphonia
>the journey of world regeneration
Final Fantasy XV
Oblivion, Morrowind
Most FF games probably
The Long Dark
thinking about what kind of stuff you need to pack, how many days you'll be travelling and then setting out for a new unknown area really feels like an adventure
No fucking Grandia yet?
you need a pair of glasses m8
People will think I'm trolling for saying this but Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.
Also Wind Waker for a less controversial opinion
>The Witcher 3
that's because you're an easily impressed child
We get it, you're a hipster, go back to your thirty threads a day bitching about the game.
Morrowind,
Ocarina of Time,
Majora's Mask,
Oblivion,
Chrono Trigger,
Skyrim,
Fallout 3,
and more Zelda games.
retard
faggot :)
Dragon Quest series.
>any mmo for the first time
I wish. I downloaded ArcheAge a few days ago, tried it out and so many things hit me in the face that I dislike that I already stopped playing, and it didn't feel like an adventure at all.
Uncharted but they're shit
Witcher 3 is a good game with a nice sense of adventure at times, though.
I've never played more than an hour of normal WoW so the very notion of returning to this rose-tinted "golden age" really is like an adventure for me. I can explore this decade-long mythology that a bunch of insane nerds have cultivated and see for myself what's bullshit and what was true all this time.
Feels like an adventure to me.
Oblivion
Syberia 1+2
I agree with Symphonia, for the first half of the game it's just a fun colourful adventure walking from town to dungeon to town with your anime friends but then once you get the interdimensional hoverbikes with full access to both worlds at your whim but you've still got like 30 hours to go of just flying back and forth the same old areas, it doesn't feel as fun.
The first two Paper Mario games have always been the epitome of that "adventure" feeling. Just something about the chapter structure and the very different but memorable settings of each one works for me.
>getting on the train to Dry Dry Outpost in 64 for the first time
Every time.
youtube.com
Really want to get some friends over and emulate it.
Sorcery!
NO THEYRE NOOOOTTTTTT
The age of mythology campaign.
Fun for most of it though. And you at least explore most of Sylvarant on foot.
Tethe'alla would be a nightmare to travel on foot though so that's why you get vehicles there. It's your fast travel without being fast travel.
First half is a wonderful journey though and I love the stakes and scale just getting bigger and bigger.
This.
The only game that's made me feel this way. Too bad the sequels are wank.
yeah when you're not sucking dick as Geralt the monster sniffer.
the prologue and first half of the first chapter are amazing, but the rest of the game is hot garbaggio
Respek.
>the only people capable of joining me were the people I hated most in the world.
Fuck you Yungus, Angelo and Jessica are great. I just wish Red could have come too.
KH1
FF Chrystal Chronicles
Bioshock 1 and Infinite
Obv LoZ games
play FFXI
Only correct answer.
I always liked multi-disc long games like most ps1 rpgs. It makes it feel like the adventure is just so big that it cant fit on a single disc. I know it's because the disc space is actually pretty small, but it's a nice illusion to me. Even some 360 games were up to 4 discs long
I really liked this game's world, even if the game wasn't so good in itself.
Skies of Arcadia.
Always.
The Last Guardian
What's the best way to emulate Okami? Dolphin emulator or a PS2 emulator?
The correct answer.
Sonic adventure
Best stage of Warband is when you have 2-3 companions and around 20 decent soldiers. Playing as a small mercenary raiding band is comfy as fuck.
Gothic series
Half-Life 2 is an adventure
KH1
Fuck 2
Fallout 4.
Benjamin Fischbein
You are truly my nigger
Breath of Fire II
Secret of Mana
Seiken Densetsu 3
Fallout 3
Far Cry 3
Fuck you don't you dare talk shit about Yangus you giraffe.
gothics
tomb raiders, yea all of them depending on your old game tolerance go down the years
elder scrolls
fable
witchers, maybe tw1 is not that adventureous but 2-3 have that far beyond kind of feel to them
DAO
KOTORs
and deus exs, yes when you get to that point in 1 and when you get to hengsha in HR it is very adventure like feeling
kind of black flag
top of my head, i'll think of something better
dolphin, but you need w10 for dx12 for best performance as far as I know
>Crystal Chronicles
my nigger
Emulate PS2 or play PS3
The Wii version is shit
Little Big Adventure 2, no contest. The adventure never ends with this one.
>dolphin, but you need w10 for dx12 for best performance as far as I know
Can you avoid the motion controls on the dolphin emulator?
I know its not traditional but Parasite eve feels like your a cop whos just following the thread of a case that goes way way way over her head.
This and Breath of Fire 3, both are amazing adventures.
...
it is the literal adventure genre
long journey, deponia, moneky island etc. etc. etc. etc.
