Was it really that bad? Should I get it from the Humble bundle monthly if I liked XCOM EU?

Yes, small groups with half dozen skills is bad design.
you shouldn't get anything from humble monthly, why do you morons keep falling for it
Because is the cheapest you can get Xcom 2 atm? I honestly don't give a fuck about the rest of the games
It really depends.
Xcom 2 is a much more solid and enjoyable game compared to the previous one.
The devs isolated and upset a chunk of the more laidback, casual fans though. Things are more difficult, the stakes are higher, and the pressure is kicked up throughout the game. As you could expect, casual gamers aren't happy with Xcom 2.
If you liked taking your time and being able to brute force your way through the game, I wouldn't recommend it. If you were a fan of strategic gameplay and the higher difficulties, I would totally recommend it.
there is a mod that removes the timers
i liked it, my only gripe is the stealth system could of been much better, you can use a Phantom ranger to scout ahead and on their turn you see all the hexes that would cause them to become revealed but then you have absolutely no fucking idea on the range of their actual LOS with regards to your revealed party members and they can get spotted from miles away causing the pod to activate.
For that price it is definitely worth the money, however you either need to be patient for some very long load times or install it to an SSD. It's not as good as EU/EW but it's still worth a play and for that price it's fair
Avoid all DLC except the robot one but even that isn't a must play.
Did they keep the augments/implants from Enemy Within? That was probably the most interesting part of the whole past game for me.
I've been pretty happy with what I get from the monthly so far.
Only really been one month that it didn't give me something from my wishlist
nope
Well that fucking sucks
>Was it really that bad?
Yeah, but Long War 2 has been announced so might as well get it while it's cheap.
Best XCOM yet. Only disliked by salty elitists who want every game to remain exactly the same, and shitters who can't handle timed missions.
I prefer keeping them, but I have a mod that only activates timers when concealment is broken. Personally I think that's how it should have been and I can enjoy the game a lot more.
Yes and no. There are implants, but only one per soldier and they can't be swapped out. Some mods add new ones to mix it up, though I did prefer the gene lab from EW
I thought it was retarded in the base game that the timer would begin even though you were being stealthily placed into a hotzone without the enemy knowing you were there in the first place. Thankfully there's a mod that has the countdown start only once you revealed
Realism is the least of my concerns when playing XCOM.
Last month was actually pretty decent, but you should always cancel if you don't like the main game because that's about 60-70% of the value of the bundle.
>Avoid all DLC except the robot one
Nigga what? Sparks are fucking useless and the alien rulers aren't that difficult once you up the ante in terms of weapon and armor tier. They'll fuck you up early-game, but eventually you can knock off a good chunk of their health.
I have the corrupted avatar ruler mod installed that spawns late game, that fucker can spawn mobs of enemies and mind control your entire squad if you go on the defensive.
Alien Hunters is still bad content, doesn't add anything worthwhile to the game. In fact it makes it worse.
Good game design must not be one of them either if you like this heap of shit.
Good for you.
Who said it was bad?
>I thought it was retarded in the base game that the timer would begin even though you were being stealthily placed into a hotzone without the enemy knowing you were there in the first place.
Fucking this, also why the heck doesn't my team just shoot the aliens when it's their turn??
Game is fucked for some people by a patch a year ago. Legit. Waited that long for a fix and it never came, everyone stopped caring.
Only a few hundred people reported it and he devs say 'works for me lul'
Good game otherwise. Can't play it anymore and it isn't for lack of troubleshoots and reinstalls. Private virtual function, tried too many new save games over the last year only to have them fuck out that I am scared of trying a new one.
Good game. Would recommend 100%. Get the DLC if you can afford it. Not the first one but the latter too.
It's enjoyable, but I just didn't feel much desire to replay it like I did with XCOM:EW.
It's kinda forgettable, I think the first one was better
You not playing with mods bruh?
XCOM 2 is literally the perfect sequel besides performance but still perfect
Anything you don't like, there's a mod for it
Buy it user you won't regret it
Same here.
Ive finished the first one multiple times already but for some reason i never felt like replaying Xcom 2
It was legitimately bad on release. Multiple actually game breaking bugs and horribly performance even on absurd systems, and those issues didn't get fixed for a good few months. Then there's the DLC, which is complete garbage, all of it.
The base game is in a very good state by now however and there's plenty of mods to spice it up.
There's realism and then there's just common sense. The entire reason there's a timer put on the missions is because it's stated they're calling in reinforcements your guerrilla force can't hope to fight head on, so you have to get in, complete your objective and get out. Why would the reinforcements come to combat a force they have no idea is even there?
No, it's actually really fucking good. It changed things up from the previous formula and upset a bunch of people, is all. That, and we'd all been spoiled by the depth of Long War.
>loved EW
>Buy xcom2
>Install 3 more turns mod
>It's fucking fun
Totally worth it for 12$
Pretty sure the big flying Marvel capekino fortress isn't difficult to spot.
>game gives you all of this insanely overpowered shit like mimic beacons and grenadiers
>scrubs still feel the need to install mods that fuck with the time limits
Wow...lol
It's still tiny when compared to the scale of the Earth and that it can go anywhere. It probably doesn't appear on advent's radar since its alien technology, if they detected the avenger from range they'd think it was just a UFO until they actually see it, hence why UFOs will then pursue it
I removed the timers when I added two more pods of aliens to every mission, and two more aliens in every pod. However, I then ended up bringing the timers back (albeit extended by 70%) because not having timers also means removing mechanics like soldiers getting captured and rescued.
UFOs aren't on Earth anymore, they fucked off elsewhere to fight some other species.
You're thinking way too hard, it's a goddamn video game where you shoot big snakes with tits.
Its Xcom 1 but with a different skin and a gimmick
I honestly believe a B team did make this and the main team is working on a real Xcom game or a new engine or something. Everything about this game screams cheaply made cash grab.
>it's the perfect sequel beside the fact that it tear out your eyes and your pc's internals
>Xcom 1
:D
>buy Dragon Dogma in the monthly
>get a lot of other stuff i don't care about
>trade it away
>get Wasteland 2 Directors Cut and Rebel Galaxy
Not a bad deal for 10 bucks.
falling for what exactly? so far i only subscribed when i wanted the main game and i never ended up regretting it
>alien isolation
cheapest at the time, plus i got titan souls out of it
>mad max
cheapest at the time, plus infinifactory and oddworld and jumpjet rex which was decent too
>soma
cheapest at the time, then wwe2k16 which i actually almost bought a week earlier and the banner saga
>dragon's dogma
cheapest at the time, then mordheim
>warhammer vermintide
this one was kinda of a gamble, wans't very interested in the main game but i wanted to try it, and then it turned out to be a very good bundle (project cars, jotun, mother russia bleeds and the weeb game that i'm enjoying quite a lot)
definitely staying subscribed for xcom2
Sparks are pretty god early game and still okay late.
You're basically there for the 2 armour and rocket. They're one of the only teammates you can risk taking a hit. Being able to shred armour is also nice
>it's the perfect sequel beside the fact that it gave the English British Gamer arse cancer
>tfw poorfag still running an AMD 6850
>hear about severe performance issues
I don't wanna risk buying it and not being able to play at more than 10fps on min. settings, although EU/EW worked perfectly fine
The performance issues were VERY severe in the beginning but they have improved significantly. Still, you can refund on Steam so what are you risking?
>Everything about this game screams cheaply made cash grab
Like what?
I meant EW but you get the drift
You can't refund a game activated from a key, user.
So buy it on Steam before you buy it from a shady cheap Russian keysite.
Cant you read? Everything
>Humble is a shady cheap Russian keysite
Now I'm convinced, brb refunding
How about the fact it cant be called a sequel. Its the exact same as EW with the gimmick of being able to 'sneak' at the start.
Thats not to mention the even worse performance, fucking horrendous balance thats somehow even worse than Africa/satellite spam of the first and every single DLC has screamed cheap cash grab made in 5 minutes except the one DLC that adds in MECs again, woops I meant 'Sparks'
I dont blame them for it, Xcom is niche enough as is and im sure they are desperate for cash to make the next real game, its just a shame people praise 2 for being good when its obviously a scam.
A sterling argument.
Save your money for the superior Xcom game
hahahahah
Great samefag, Shame newmoot is banning mobile devices soon.
This
Is he really? That would make Sup Forums great again, but no way would he lose out on that advertising money
Don't bother posting about real strategy games here, unless it has a 'cinematic' camera view and can be played with a joypad neo Sup Forums hasnt got the attention span
I love this gif and all but you'd probably die if that happened.
Of course it can be called a sequel, it IS literally a sequel. Sequels are SUPPOSED to retain the core of earlier games while adding fresh stuff to the formula. The performance, sure, but it's been vastly improved since launch.
The balance is a bit on the hardcore side compared to EU, but it's not really any worse. And the DLC are all little tidbits where you get exactly what you pay for.
The fact that you don't like the direction they went doesn't make the game a "cheap cash-grab". It was developed by the same team as EU/EW, with a larger budget.
>Sup Forums is full of casual scum
Leddit invasion is real.
withought reading your thread at all...... the first one was a lot better
