This is literally grinding: the game.

>Boss is always at least 5 levels higher than the general mob
>You grind till the level of the mob, it becomes very slow and painful
>Every new location feels terrible because you know you have to grind at least 5 more levels before you're actually prepared for the boss
>Some say that there is no need to grind, but the game has shitty difficulty adjustments, some bosses, e.g. Egil is easy, others, e.g. Lorithia is hard even on over level, go watch chuggaaconroy's rant in Lorithia, he's 2 levels higher.
>Why did I play for so long?
>The story was amusingly dragged to the point where it became interesting, I just wanted to play on to see what happened in the end.
But in all honesty, after everything, it was hell of a grind time, I'm just glad I'm done with it, next time I'll consider if I like the game for a RPG, when it comes to playing an RPG.

I recall exactly 2 parts of the game where I grinded and the second one was because I didn't play the game properly

Lorithia is a shit fight because of how you lack control of your party members' movement, grinding just helps to overcome that.

I don't see how this game would require much grinding unless you flat out refuse to do any side quests or explore places whatsoever

Your opinions are shit. I hope I never enter to one of your threads again.

If you ever had to grind in Xenoblade, you're really doing it wrong.

>Do all the quests I can find because autism
>game is a pathetic cakewalk

I did the comparison. Some side quests are just down right down to luck. For example, monsters in thunder storms, and some items are just down right impossible to find. Grinding with Riki's exp skills would have been much faster I found.

Most of the "grinding" comes from killing everything in your path as you explore and do side quests.

That said I enjoyed actual grinding in this game while watching Steven Universe and Teen Titans Go.

Yes, the sidequesting/bitchworking was really obvious padding otherwise you'd just go from point A to B to trigger cutscenes and never bother to explore the levels.
Still it was bearable since some quests at least bothered to offer subplots with insights on the setting, I've dealt with worse.

>Steven universe
>Teen Titans Go
You need to be at least 18 to post here

Playing it right now. I actually had to stop doing side quests because I felt I was overleveled.

I don't know if it's just me but side quests mostly are really boring. There isn't very much insightful story with most quests. It's mostly just, "monster is blocking my path, kill 10 bunnies, monster quest 1 part 1"

The reason the bosses are 5 levels higher is because the fight is supposed to be hard. Grinding until you are one level below, or equal, makes the fight too easy.

Not with Lorithia. That shit was cancer.

I don't mean doing side quests for leveling up, just doing sidequests in general and getting experience as a side effect, most of them aren't hard or luck based.

>people always complain about getting too much xp and being too high level
>grinding: the game
Someone here is full of shit and I've got a hunch that it's you.

But they're boring and mundane. Felt like the data entry job I had when I was like 14

I stopped playing the 3ds version after like 5min. Dogshit voice acting, dogshit battle system. I want a real fucking RPG, does 3DS not have any?

Git gud: The Game.

It's not even difficult.

It's not just that. It's that the game runs like a snail when there's more than 5 enemies on the screen.

Protip: The lion's share of experience in this game comes from doing side-quests and exploring the map.

Sure. I'll go download a movie to watch while I finish all my side quests.

Voice acting was fucking great, go back to your cookie cutter American animu dubshit.

Stage actors are best actors.

Dragon Quest VII, soon VIII.

Bravely Default and its sequel.

Legend of Legacy

SMT IV and its sequel.

Shit load of Etrian Odyssey games.

Tales of the Abyss has a 3ds port.

Technically Pokemon is an RPG.

Choose your poison.

>Dogshit voice acting

OP is literally gamer: the noob.

I literally never grinded the entire game. I never went out of my way to complete side-quests either.

I'd get to a new place, buy everything I can for my chars, sell everything I don't need, pick up every quest and go on my way. The only ones I completed were accidental.

...

Same problem with dot hack, balancing stats based on level difference is a terrible idea.

Do you even know how to play rpgs? I was under lvlved for every boss but i was able to beat them you lazy cuck

Xenoblade X is the one where you have to mindlessly grind.

If you need to grind in Xenoblade it means you are deliberately running through all the areas.
The only time you might get fucked over and need to grind is against a certain L75 boss near the end of the game

If you need to grind for anything other than minmaxing your gem setup, you're bad at this game. As long as something is at least yellow tagged, it's beatable as long as you play decently and have up to date equipment. As long as you're actually fighting things instead of just running past, you shouldn't need to grind at all for the story except for maybe 2 - 4 levels at the very end for the final boss.

Lorithia is kinda tough, but not overly so. I found the fight before Zanza to be harder thanks to his paralysis spike and AOE blowback attack. For Lorithia just Pick Melia with Reyn and Riki as your partners. Just put up two Summon Ices to reduce the damage at the start and you should be fine even if you're underleveled. As long as you have Reyn set up to maximize aggro generation he should be able to tank just fine despite physical damage being nearly useless in this fight.
