Current consoles don't seem to have games that worth bothering with. They sure are pretty to an extent, but everything seems to have been watered down.

This was never a sound theory in any way whatsoever unless you unironically believe TBBT has had any amount of influence on the gaming industry. There have been plenty of good games released since then and there will be more good games released in the future, lots of these games are easily better than the overrated shit (Halo 2, WoW, Melee) modern Sup Forums upholds as "the best games ever". This year looks great in particular, this month alone has Future Tone, Yakuza 0 and Gravity Rush 2, as well as the slim chance that Tales of Berseria and/or RE7 might be good.

His early work was a little too “neo-tokyo” for my taste, but when Metal Gear Solid came out in ‘97, I think he really came into his own - both commercially and artistically. The whole game has clear, crisp cinematography, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the gameplay a big boost. He’s been compared to Shigeru Miyamoto, but I think Hideo has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

In 2004, Hideo released this, Snake Eater, his most accomplished game. I think the best part is right before fighting The Boss, a cutscene so long most people probably just skip it - but they shouldn’t skip it! Because it’s not just about the brutality of modern geopolitics, and the reckless ways that governments spend soldier’s lives, it’s also a personal statement about the Metal Gear series itself!
