Anyone here not into rape stuff? I kind of enjoy the secret world, I feel like the combat is bland and the only reason I still stick to the game is because of it's setting and lore

main story is about secret society stuff, side quests are mostly about uncovering mysteries and local legends

Cthulu type horrors in the background are fucking with the fabric of reality and causing a huge rise in supernatural activity, similar to the rising darkness in Constantine, and bees give you immortality and powers to combat it. You get recruited by a secret society, but that's just a sort of backdrop for you to go around solving mysteries and shit.

If you like occult type settings like World of Darkness (VtM:B) and/or puzzles then you'll most likely enjoy TSW

It would be 100x better as a singleplayer game, and for the most part it basically is since no one will willingly team up with you unless it's required.

I love it, but it would be so much better as anything other than an MMO.

That's kind of cool in the sense that it's about secret societies and shit. Like there ARE players out there, but like they're not around... idk.

No, but post game content has to be paid for separately. So long as you go in knowing you'll probably never see another player go for it. The story is still quite excellent.

Different user, I've been wanting to get the game forever but I don't have the patience for the solo mmo grind. I wanted to finish at least the agent storyline in tor but just couldn't muster the giveafuck.

Is it annoying to get through the Secret World? Will I be fighting the combat to get to the story?

Standard boring MMO combat. It's not difficult unless you mismanage your points. So read up on what you want to do.

I was in the same spot. Ultimately, same as OP... I'm only in it for the lore and I end up playing every two or three days just because I feel that I have to make it earn the cost I paid for it. Playing this game for its "potential" will only make you feel like you wasted your time on the long run.

Yeah, the gameplay is awful, just like in any other Everquest/ WoW clone, an pretty hard to solo unlike most of these games.

I'd recommend anyone interested in the game to wait it to fail and someone make a private server so easy to win you can focus in exploring the world and the story, by FAR the best parts of the game.

Sadly I doubt the game is even popular enough to get private servers when it dies, so I guess people should play now.

You're gonna tell me about that rape stuff there's in the game right fucking now.

Wait for the game + ALL the DLC to be on sale, last halloween you could get all the content for just 20 bucks, and even if you only do missions and ignore end game, that's like 300 hour easy for 20 dollars.
Also, try to play with a friend so you can breeze through the shit combat.

You shouldn't, is a HARD game to solo because it tries to have a semi survival horror experience, and it want players to group unlike most theme parks, but sadly nobody does (except for endgame, there is pretty easy to get groups and raid, fortunately), so unless you have friends to play, ignore it.

The complete pack was on sale for like $20 and comes with most of the extra mini-expansions, as well as a month of membership time so you can get your skills up faster when you start out.

Solving tsw's type of puzzles with your bros is a really unique experience that no other game offers. It might have been better off were it not an MMO, but it wouldn't be better off if it were singleplayer
