There's nothing wrong with 720p though.

It's half the resolution of 1080p, and looks like shit by comparison. Worse yet, the PS3 doesn't upscale, so the TV has to do it, which leads to an increase in input lag.

Diminishing returns, I jump back & forth between 8th & 7th gen consoles without a hitch. It's only the jump from 480p to 720p that's noticeable at glance.

That's because you haven't seen those games at a higher resolution. As a PCfag who has games default at 720p for some reason, a ton of detail is gained by running at a higher resolution. Even 900p to 1080p is a pretty big difference. If this thread is still up by the time I get to my PC, I'll post some pics I made in Witcher out of curiosity

ff13 1-3 was all in 1080. Dragon's crown was too.

It's not entirely 720p, it's mostly 720p with a number of games only being 1152x640, a few being 1024x600, and a few being weird resolutions like 1280x1080 and 1440x1080.

I have REmake on both my PS4 and my PS3 and i can say while i do prefer it on my PS4, you PS3 kids ain't missing that much.

That's nothing like the 8-bit era, when arcades were already exceeding consoles and the NES always got a reworked version of the game. And then the SMS version would be something completely different too.

One of my resolutions was to stop hoarding shit and this is the hardest thing for me to let go. I have a whole shelf full of games that I want to put into disc binders and then just put the cases in storage but I can't bring myself to do it.

It's a 62inch HD smart TV, I might just need a better HDMI.

I can run games like Witcher 3 at 1080p/45fps at mostly high settings. Only settings I have below high are shadows (huge performance drain for not much visual fidelity at higher settings) and grass density (same as shadows). If I wanted to run it at the same resolution as PS4, I'd get an almost rock solid 60fps.

600p on PS3, 360 was 720p

I'd been playing my 360 on my 4k tv. It's beautiful still for being so old. The ps3 is just noticeably 720p
