Astral Air was so f*cking boring. Favorite could not make a good game if their lives depended on it.

Is learning Japanese for visual novels worth it?

2 years for a fap seems like a lot

Replaying Grisaia to get ready for Meikyuu once the +18 patch is out. Doing Amane, Makina, Sachi and ending with Yumiko skipping Michiru since i don't like her.

Not if you edge right

Moot said Japanese VNs belong to /jp/ and western VNs belong to /vg/.

Reading Umineko. I'm near the end of the 6th chapter, I really hope my theories so far are right

Is Meikyuu supposed to be as good as the first one?

>Playing

Can be done in a few months if you start reading with the aid of hook2text.

I haven't heard anything bad about it. But none of that matters you get to bang and bully the cakes.

I just finished Aqua's route in Himawari
Some of these bad endings are really fucking depressing, particularly "The Grandest of Steps". What is even the point of them?

Really? In that case it's a definite buy for me, her lack of a route was the worst part of kajitsu

That's why they're called bad ends user.

>playing

I would be playing VA-11 HALL-A, but I fucked up and missed the sale sending gifts to friends.

Fata Morgana is unironically very good

Not for one fap. For the rest of the life's faps.
Let's say you'll live another 50 years from the point when you learn JP. That's 54750 - 73000 faps.
Worth it for sure.

If you read a shitload of VNs and/or there are many untranslated VNs you are interested in, yes. Otherwise, just wait for translations, though the amount of notable VNs translated each year is pretty low since VNs are quite expensive to translate and only appeal to a niche audience.

It's fine that my comp is crap but I don't want to play garbage just cause I can't run anything else. Still, thanks for the suggestion

It's out now, apparently.

denpasoft.com/shop/the-labyrinth-of-grisaia-unrated/

Reading Umineko and Muv-Luv extra right now.

Fuck me i thought they'd take longer. I better get through Grisaia fast then.

Sorry to hear it user, you sound like a nice guy

Steins;Gate 0.
Too many fucking SOL shit that I usually get bored after 30 mins.

do you need to play the first game for this, or is the anime enough? (still watcing it)

it's acceptable to watch the anime but the VN is far better

thanks user, I guess steam is okay for it

It's $10 right now on Humble Bundle, dude. and you get ither shit

Does a VN have to have sex to get you to read it?

I'm asking because I'm debating whether to include sex in my VN or not.

if you get the steam release of the steins;gate VN use this patch sonome.dareno.me/projects/sghd.html

dude the jvn audience always wants porn you should realize this

whether a good story needs sex or not? you should already know the answer to that

You should know.Forced sex scenes are horrible (fate/stay night).

Tsukihime

I always skip porn except in games where masturbating is the entire point.

>sonome.dareno.me/projects/sghd.html
thanks man, looks like an awesome patch

Yeah, that's what I thought.

My story is complete, I just have extra endings/side routes to write, and I was just wondering if that was something people expected because I wasn't planning to include it.

I know full well a good story doesn't need sex to be good and the script so far doesn't contain any.

Alright, that tells me what I need to know, then. Thanks.

Look for the game in a year or so.

Make it all-ages then put it on steam and watch the money flow in. Then make a +18 patch and sell that too and make even more money.

>Look for the game in a year or so.

well what's it gonna be called user?

>VN

>Playing

Nope.

You'll know by the bunnies, don't worry.

okay!

Don't bother, you'll just make it impossible to sell on Steam and decrease your potential audience, while your story probably won't improve by much.
Even in Japanese VNs, most h-content is pretty boring and generic. A well-written h-scene can greatly improve the experience, though.

What about a generic romance vn with naizuri?

do what that other guy suggested and sell a patch with extra content if the VN does well

your plot and characters should be able to carry sales - hscenes are just the cream on top

I LOVE YOU MIKAN!

WHO DOESN'T?!?!

Visual Novels are such a waste of time. I'm reading The Secret Garden and loving every page.

You also read Sup Forums. Let's just say your taste is eclectic at best.

I read regular novels too, since VNs aren't as convenient to read on a smartphone.

>visual novel
>playing

Student Transfer 2.0 baybee!

they're games so you play them

holy shit fucking finally

Teaching Feeling. The fuck is this? Why, when googled, do I get little to nothing in terms of news, conversations, or anything besides archived Sup Forums posts?

Is the VN better than the anime? Because I vividly remember the anime being utter shit.

Does this game really have the same artist as its prequel?
The differences between the two are pretty jarring that it trigger the fuck out of me.

>Is the VN better than the anime?
The answer to that is always yes user so what are you really asking?

>That mosngergirl kindergarden game full of minigames.png

Any ones in english with some proper banter and the protagonist isn't a wishy-washy faggot like Grisaia?

The Rance games i guess?

yeah the art difference for the sprites is horrifying, especially when they put the old and new side by side

Tsukihime. I'm almost done Hisui's route.

I just finished Sharin no Kuni the other day.

Was gonna read the fan disc epilogues, but holy christ, either I am crazy or the translation quality took a nosedive and it was bugging me way too much.

Just finished Steins Gate 0

All those japan posters who claimed it was better than the first were on drugs or something

they honestly were

it had some nice parts but it was a big letdown in several areas

wouldn't surprise me. fandiscs are probably not a priority generally

It does. It's just been so long that their style changed a bit.

TRA-BLU

Xblaze Code Embryo. I finally beat the story in BlazBlue CT so I'm working on CS on the PS3 and Xblaze on the Vita. Before that, I read S;G0.

>playing
I'm going through F/SN, about halfway through UBW right now.

There's not a translation for that, is there?
I'm looking for a good nukige right now.

>There's not a translation for that, is there?

No translation. Either learn Japanese or use a machine translator. Preferably both at the same time.

>I'm looking for a good nukige right now.

It's not a nukige. The sex scenes are plenty, but it's not a fuckfest. You have to wait for a while before the first H scene kicks in after hours of character establishment and drama.

Kakyuusei 2.

lewd

>Does a VN have to have sex to get you to read it?
Nope. There are vn's just for porn, i can read them if i want.

nothing, waiting for the new translated stuff.

>Oldest VN ever recorded in VNDB has loli theme

Interesting

Not playing but finished last year:

Ever17
Remember11
Steins;Gate
Steins;Gate 0

VN/other game genre hybrids
Zero Time Dilemma
Danganronpa 1&2
Ace Attorney Spirit of Justice

Started but cbf getting back to:
Fate/Stay Night

Any recommendations on what to play next? I may play Root Double.

if you enjoyed 999 and remember11 root double is a good choice, though it's longer and has more backstory (make sure to play in the order A --> B)

if you like the VN/other game hybrid sort of thing, try ghost trick and hotel dusk plus its sequel last window

seriously that game was a fucking let down. waiting for months for a pile of dog shit

Nah, it was.

Rance VI. Reading through it slowly.

no, it dropped plot points all over the place instead of finishing them and did nonsensical things

also the music wasn't as good

...

curious about this game myself

...

Trivia: Visual Novels are not video games.

Kinda ironic how Sup Forums bashes walking sims and cinematic games yet praises book/text/playboy sims.

You didn't need to post it twice.

People laugh at "cinematic" games because ultimately, the gameplay is utterly superfluous, and all they're doing is telling a 20 hour story at best. With a VN, they already worked out the gameplay was superfluous 30 years ago, so they cut it out, didn't waste any money on 3D models they'd never use, and then just distilled the game down to the story.

That's why cinematic games are a joke, because they don't even have the thought put into them that a 30 year old VN does.

...

>nono-chan, while thinking that the title sensei had said was a compliment, was resistant to being looked (after?) a bit
I don't get this sentence. I thought it was fine up until 抵抗, why is she resisting?

VN started because of lolis and will always have a place in the genre.

...

Life is Strange.

What are some vns I can play to get into genre?

>inb4 Katawa Shoujo

Play Muv-Luv or Kara no Shoujo. I don't think anything else in English is really worth the time.

...

The best Visual Novel

Depends, do you like relaxing VN or deep plot action VN?

What's the point of getting into eroge when you're an EOP?

Also I'm playing Dies Irae, Marie route.
