I'm trying to make a good gaming PC on somewhat of a budget.

How'd I do?
I'm trying to make a good gaming PC on somewhat of a budget
Don't get a K version of the i5 if you aren't going to being using a Zsomething motherboard, also maybe look into getting a cheaper wifi card or see if you could find a way to connect through ethernet
pcpartpicker.com
This any better?
Yeah, but I don't see why not to get the cheaper gigabyte wificard that is like $30
Not him but.
Why 2 Wifi Adapters?
Why $60 adapter in first place?
Get a MSI B150M Mortar.
Get a EVGA PSU, 500W should be good.
What is your budget?
pcpartpicker.com
This is a bit better if you don't mind adding a bit to the cost. Otherwise, your revised list is fine
Also this assuming you can't use ethernet
Your build, but cheaper.
pcpartpicker.com
Ethernet isn't an option right now-- I can't afford that.
My budget is as cheap as possible under $1000.
All the poor choices is because it's my first build, up until now I was a consolecuck.
You want to overclock or you dont want to have to deal with any of that?
>on a budget
>goes for an i5
Also i assume you dont have a screen too right?
I5 can be for budget builds too since is one of the last things you probably change together with the motherboard.
No, I don't care about overclocking, it's my first build
I'm using a small 1080p 60hz tv I have
If you are sure about not wanting to overclock now OR later, then maybe look at this
pcpartpicker.com
Done, what do you think about this?
pcpartpicker.com
$810.
SP550 got replaced with SU800, now it uses 3D NAND for almost the same price.
Why a $34 HSF when the stock one is good enough?
Oh yeah i forgot the wireless adapter.
pcpartpicker.com
looks great, thanks user
Oh, so is it just the k processors that don't come with a cooler? Then if so my bad
Alternatives are add another 8GB stick for 16GB and Dual-Channel RAM.(+$40)
Add a 212 EVO for a more silent built if fan noises bother you.(+$30-35).
And that is pretty much it.
You don't need better fans than stock for stock cpus. Need better fans for overclocking only.
I bought a locked cpu because I overclocked one once and fucking damaged it, reducing the speed.
So if you overclock, best ask for advice or tutos first than doing it blindly. Or rather just don't do it at all.
I don't mind the noise, I owned an Xbone for a while
Do I need the SSD, it seems a little expensive
Overclocking is easy, just do go full retard on the voltage.
If you go over 1.38 better pray got you won the silicon lottery.
Building it is really easy, literally building legos tier.
If you ever need help try
No, but its pretty much standard this days.
It wont give you more FPS in games but will make literally everything load right away.
Not only games, but windows in general.
Its just to rid of load times.
If you don't overclock, then no problem.
I recommend you that you learn to clean your system, watch tutorials on youtube.
Otherwise, as fans get cluttered they will cause noise.
You must add some oil if they start giving problems and consider replacing the fan if it happens. But so far, I haven't had problems just adding oil. Still I change system every 5 years max.
I didn't rise voltage at all. I just rised the frequency higher and higher, then the fucking system locked itself. When I restarted the cpu went from 2.8 ghz to fucking 2.2. I was never able to rise it back to 2.8, it locked every time I rised the frequency. I am a retard,
>Otherwise, as fans get cluttered they will cause noise.
Intel HSF doesnt have this problem because its a sun shape HSF.
Also its not that hard to clean a PC, literally a $4 can of compressed air is all you need.
You do it once every year or just ignore it.
At the point the fans need oil you are better replacing them of how old they will be.
CPU?
When the system starts crashing you start increasing the voltage.
Also this is a example why SSDs are popular:
youtube.com
It was a E6300, I think.
>that video
Fuck
More examples.

Yeah SSDs are awesome. The only problem they have supposedly is that they can fail without giving much info before they die or so they say.
I would keep my saves and shit in a standard hdd and the OS and game files in the SSD. Fast loads, but if it dies, your critical info is alright.
>The only problem they have supposedly is that they can fail without giving much info before they die or so they say.
There are health monitors.
And the ones that die from controller failure are the shitty ones (Kingston SV300 and UV400 for example).
Sandisk SSD Plus had this problem too.
That is why you buy a 850 EVO or a ADATA SU800.
Well thanks for clearing that out. No wonder 850s are so much on demand currently then. And the price difference shows.
Yeah the price is pretty much because they are a safe buy.
Other alternatives are coming thank god.
Prices wont drop because samsung is intel tier when it comes on old hardware.
