So anyone can tell me which Tales games does Berseria battle resemble to? I really like Graces battle so I hope it is that. Zestiria seems similar to Graces in the surface but for some reason I don't really enjoy Zestiria.

I started this about a month ago as my first Tales game. Got it for 3 bucks in some weekly xbox deal... Anyway, it's pretty fun so far, except for the part where some wolf boss was a big difficulty spike for no reason... Seriously, I am now past part 1 of the game and that random boss was the most troubling, although it did end up only taking 3 or 4 tries. So I hear the rest of the series isn't as good as this one. How does Berseria compare to it?

But seriously I had fun with the demo. Already much better than Zestiria. I can actually see what's going on in battle. Glad they went back to the old transitions. I can control any character I want in the field and have any combination. Button thing is weird getting used to because now they have new controls for block. I liked Graces so I don't mind this type of battle system. Glad they got rid of shitty equipment system from Zestiria but the demo doesn't give a chance to see it much.

Demo didn't impress me. Probably going to wait until it drops to $20 like I usually do.

Have you been getting boss achievements user? There are (maybe secret) achievements for each boss for working out ways to make them easier. For the wolf, I think you can get it to poison or immobilize itself with the nearby flowers.

It's flawed and has one or two major ones that stick out, but a lot of the game is pretty decent.

I was actually a bit worried about the equipment system, because the names and skills looked EXACTLY like the ToZ system - but like you saod, we weren't able to see much of it.

The default setup seem to have X being attacks that go left, Y straight on, B to the right. I'm just wondering is there a quick artes button so I can cast spells without fucking around in menus for 8 seconds every time I wanna cast a complete shit damage spell.

There seems to be a lot of nuances to it under the surface but at the same time it feels like you can just mash shit and still come out fine. Velvet's claw shit just seems straight OP and it feels like it will be more broken in the full game. Rokurou's counter shit looks like it can be bonkers too.

Personally I remember that when the game initially came out Jap anons and importers said it was really good and possibly the best Tales of since Vesperia.

I've only played Vesperia, Phantasia and Zestiria but I think that might be a thing with this series.

I didn't really have to strategize in Zestiria until the later half or third of the game, up until then I was kinda just button mashing a bit.

I don't understand how spells are supposed to work with this Artes system. If you queue them up in a row, you have to throw spells you don't want first if it's not on the first slot. If you put one into physical chains, enemies will just interrupt your casting most of the time since you were just close to them for melee. If you put one per button, then you're a pure caster and wasting 12 other slots. And a lot of characters with magic are hybrids except the shota I think.

Can someone who has played the full game explain if there's a good solution? To be fair, I felt the tutorial was really brief and there's a lot more to learn about the combat system.

It's both. Unless there is a difficulty option in the actual game, you can just button mash enemies to death.

However, as said in a previous thread, each move comes with its own set of advantages, and timing your combos better will prove more effectively on a resilient boss. Spells for example, I think guard-breaks.

The specials are OP yeah, as you only use one soul for it. I pretty much never died when I aggro'd the witch boss using Velvet.

I mean the skill system. I didn't even bother with it when i played cause it was too terrible. The new one is like ff9/ Vesperia I hear though I never got to play Vesperia.
