Apart from that first aeon you have getting an extra ability was there even any reward for beating the other dark aeons? The only other ones I killed were Ifrit and Shiva and I don't recall getting anything from it and didn't bother with the rest.
You can get Vaelfor's extra overdrive long before the Dark Aeons show up

You have to do a lot of fucking around but you can, more or less
if you never played the international version, they weren't.
if I recall the same shit applis to going back to besaid for Auron's overdrives and getting buttfucked by dark valefor. Same applies if you actually didn't bother to get the chest in the temple the first time, so you can't get Anima until you beat dark valefor

I never even managed to hit any of the dark aeons.
I assume that to actually beat them you need to be able to do more than 9999 damage per attack, like they do, but I never figured that out either.
need to get the ultimate weapons for your people and do a shit ton of grinding/farming to get auto haste/life etc so you dont wipe instantly beyond dark valefor, who is super pansy ass compared to the rest of them especially the magus
How much luck minimum do I need to take on the Dark Aeons?
Farming for luck spheres are a chore.
I've read before that it had to be 215+ or something along those lines.

You get to fight Penance, who's broken as shit and will kill you unless you've maxed out pretty much all your stats with at least 3 characters. Also farm Yojimbo for Dark Matter.
At least a 150+ for the Sisters and fucking Bahamut, over 200 if you want to kill Penance.
